I have this one friend who literally tags EVERY SINGLE PICTURE she takes as #lifeinJapan because she is teaching abroad. Picture of bread? #lifeinJapan. Picture of shoes? #lifeinJapan. Picture of a pile of dirt? #lifeinJapan
Also, hash tags #getonmynerves.

I don't undsrstand the whole 'hashtag' thing.
Maybe it's because I'm too old and curmudgeonly, but the whole thing strikes me as utterly ridiculous.
I see a hashtag and think "Oh great, an itemized list starting with number- waitagoddamnedminute... That's not a number... Oh, it's that stupid hashtag bullshell."

FYI...It's called "Hash" because that is what it was called in the UK...since they already had a "pound" symbol

Hashtags are nice for social media. Most conferences I go to have a hashtag, so I can slick on that, and it sorts out just what's going on at that conference. It's very convenient when used correctly.
