Being new here and reading some of the members have a very large collection of sabers ... my wife is going to hate me but i have a counter to her complaining " stop buying shoes and i will stop buying martial arts weapons "

Welcome. And I hear you, everytime I pick up a new saber, my girlfriend yells then spends money on something she wanted. And then it starts all over again. Also, yes, welcome to your new addiction. |

Welcome to the party.
Despite what others may say, it's not an addiction. I can stop buying them as soon as I have them all. No problem. Plus some extras for dual wield and double bladed sabers. And some more extras and yari extensions for spears/saber staves.
Another good counter is to buy her ones of her own. Then when she wants a new one....
Also US has good sales/giveaways/raffles that make it easier to expand your collection without completely breaking the bank.
Unrelated, but I'm pretty sure that wasn't your forum avatar when I started typing this post.... I like it though.

It helps to have a significant other who is more into SW than you. My wife is way more into SW than I am (every day is "Star Wars Day" to her). We have a loose pact: when one of use gets a saber, the other one does, too. My list below isn't even the whole list of sabers in the house. I think I have six to add (and a Princess on pre-order).
EDIT: The list below is just the US sabers. We also have four non-US sabers (I have 1; she has 3). We need more wall space for displays.

my wife loves star wars as much as i do, though shes not into the physical fighting aspect of a star wars fan so she doesnt want one but has no problem with me having my 16 saber collection (8 ultrasabers, 2 Black Series sabers, 3 Hasbro sabers, and 3 blade builder sabers) |

HAHAHA my wife just gave me the go ahead to start my new hobby for light sabers, as long as I don't buy anymore car parts for racing. LOL. Looks like my son and I will invest in sabers!

I try to reassure my wife that I don't want a huge saber collection, which is true.
I prefer to have a limited number of sabers that all service a specific purpose.
I have a stunt staff with QR coupler, a Lite sound saber, and RGB stunt and eventually I'll have an Emerald sound saber Premium hilt as the centerpiece to it all.
My wife and 2 sons each have at least 1 saber.
That's more than enough IMO. I only buy new sabers to replace the ones I have. For example, I'm selling my Phantasm v2 soon as my Apprentice V4 staff will be taking its place as my stunt staff.
The way I see it, I want all my sabers to be more than display pieces, so the more I have, the less likely each saber gets used either for dueling or cosplay. Thus the less "value" each has for me.

Totally agree with that sentiment and why I like the MHS parts... allows me to give a saber a 'slightly' new look at a fraction of the cost (well, when compared to a diamond saber) I just recently put a dark war glaive emitter (without claws) as a pommel for my Dark Apprentice and it turned a short hilt into a nice longer hilt that's comparable to my stunt Aeon. Now, when the kids want to take the DALEv5 for a spin, I can swap into a 24" with the original pommel that's just the right length for them... but while my Dom's making it's way back to me, I can still swap in the longer pommel and a 36" blade that's more 'my sized'... It was frustrating waiting (and waiting and waiting) for the first order, and then for a resolution to the dead dom, and now I'm impatiently waiting for the next order (.sig has details) but when's all said and done and working properly, those pains quickly fade in the glow of the magnificent sabers |
