I'm having some AV switch issues, and was pondering replacing it myself. ( pretty sure the 90day is up ) but I was wondering how involved is it ?

1) Are the wires soldered in or are they clip type connectors and silicon-ed in for stability ?

2) Would I have to disassemble the whole saber, or is there a easier way to get to just the switch ?

3) What tools might I need to do this ?

Any guidance would be appreciated, and my apologies for the semi noob question.

I have studied this but I have not tried it.  I am pretty sure the wires are soldered in place.  I believe the switch is press fitted.  I would suggest trying a long screwdriver to push from the inside or use a pair of pliers to pull from the outside.  Once the switch is dislodged, you should be able to install another one.

Some problems I see with my method are:

1.  The screw driver could damage the Obsidian or break the battery pack.
2.  The pliers could scratch the hilt.
3.  I do not know how to get more silicon behind the switch.

It is all up to you.  If I were going to attempt to do it myself, I would email them and see what recommendations they have.  It might be easier for you to send it back to them for repair.

generally, for US to replace the switches it is best to remove everything. it can take a lot of prying and pulling to get them out depending how much silicon they use on it.

Just be sure that you're new switch Is resistored correctly, otherwise the switch LED will blow and then you're right back where you started Tongue
