Hey guys,

So I got The Old Republic: Revan the other day and I have almost finished it. I can happily say that I love it, in my opinion it is written well and never boring.

Can you guys suggest any other Star Wars books that are similar or you think are worth the read?

I enjoy story arcs, so if there is 2 or 3 books that make a story that would be awesome too.

Finally, are the EU books based after ROTJ any good? Are they worth reading if there is a risk of them being retconned by the movie in 2015?

I'll second the recommendation for the Bane trilogy. The first two books in particular are tremendous.

I'll also suggest anything written by Timothy Zahn and Aaron Allston, two very different writers, but excellent storytellers. Allston's books also tend to have a high %age of hilarious moments.

In general, the X-Wing books are a great read (haven't read Mercy Kill yet, but that's a much more recent book). I, Jedi is the only first-person SW book, and is a tremendous look into the early days of the post-film Jedi as the Order is rebuilt.

I enjoy the Coruscant Nights books, too. I think there's a new one (technically I believe it's not part of the series, but has the same characters) out later this year.

Finally, the Han Solo trilogy by... AC Crispin, I think, is very well written and even though it's almost twenty years old I still think of being a real high point for the books. It covers his life from mid-teens up to the point where he meets Obi-Wan and Luke for the first time.

I would read all of the Old Republic books that are currently released.  After that, I would move to the Bane Triology and follow that with Darth Plagueis.  The EU after ROTJ are really great.  I have enjoyed all that I have read thus far.  If you are into Corran Horn, I Jedi is great as well.  Be warned though, there is an abridged version of I, Jedi that goes into ZERO detail about the construction of Corran's lightsaber and therefore sux majorly.

If you started with Revan, then you should really enjoy all of the other books.  Revan started dry for me and then became interesting but ended leaving me kind of empty.  It was the least favorite of all the books I have read but I always liked the stories I had heard of Revan prior to the release of the book.

Yes, the post-Endor books are mostly worth reading. Especially the near post-Endor, which is not likely to be invalidated by Episode 7, since Episode 7 will be set in ~30 ABY.

The good ones, in my opinion, include:
* Thrawn Trilogy. Thrawn Trilogy! THRAWN TRILOGY!!!
* Luke Skywalker and the Shadows of Mindor.
* The Jedi Academy series and I, Jedi.

* Thrawn Trilogy. Thrawn Trilogy! THRAWN TRILOGY!!!

What he said, plus I'll say it again:

THRAWN TRILOGY/HAND OF THRAWN DUOLOGY!!!!

Ok, so now that that's out of the way here's a few more I think are worth the read:

The New Jedi Order series (Yuuzhan Vong series)
The Courtship of Princess Leia
I, Jedi (actually never read it, but I've heard enough about it that I'm confident recommending it)
Darksaber
The Black Fleet Crisis trilogy
The Corellian Trilogy (I especially like this one. Third behind Thrawn and NJO for me)

That's pretty much all I've read so far.  Don't have a library close to read the others.  Sad
