The Switch is pretty cool, you can dock it to play on a larger screen or undock it when traveling. Our son loves it and it's pretty diversified in regards to games. Don't expect high end graphics or anything like that but Nintendo prides themselves with being different and designing consoles and games for the entire family.
You don't understand. I haven't had a draw to a system since the PS3. And the only two games I have my eyes on are 16-bit side-scrollers.
(They also have a SEGA arcade with numerous Genesis titles that I WANT)
The PS3 was my first Current Console, meaning I got it while it was still the console of the day. Growing up I got the consoles when the new ones came out and the old one went down in price. In order I played on the Intelevison, NES, Super NES, PlayStation, Xbox, PS3 and that was my last console ( I still have it and it still works)
Growing up, I wanted an NES. On my 11th Christmas I got a Genesis. It came with Altered Beast. Then dad got Super Monaco GP. Then I saw. I don't remember how or where, but I saw a poster with various titles advertised on the back, and Sonic on the front. I saved all my birthday money the following April and immediately ran out and dropped $49.99 on a brand spankin' new cartridge. It was glorious. I'd never seen a side-scroller progress that fast. I eventually owned the 4 main titles plus Spinball. I rented 3D-Blast, and was able to beat it, but I didn't like the way it handled. It just wasn't 'Sonic'.
Did you ever play Sonic Adventure on the Dreamcast?
Same thing as 3D-Blast. It was too complex. Very Japanese (in my book are renowned for liking ridiculously difficult games). Too much level grading, which I swore I would never get into.
They're available for the PS3:
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sonic's_Ultimate_Genesis_CollectionIn fact, most of the Sonic games have been ported to pretty much every platform. Once the Dreamcast went belly up and they stopped making consoles, they started porting Sonic and their other properties to lots of different devices. I even watched a video the other day where they've released a collection of their games for smart TVs and Fire Stick, etc. No console needed.
Ok, screw the Switch. I need THIS.
