Yeah. With my ADD, having bi-annual schedule changes was the best. That way I wasn't stuck doing the same thing ALL the time.....like now.
I hate both. I hated school and hate going to work. Really is no difference to me. Getting up before the sun and going to a place I don't want to be and doing things I don't want to do. |

Plus there was the added bonus of learning things. As a compulsive collector, knowledge is my favorite thing to collect. It's usually free, can be found anywhere, has an unlimited supply, and can be taken from anyone without them losing a thing. This was especially for me true in college (university to my European brethren). |

I love learning things.... Yet nothing I learned in school has aided me in real life. In fact, turns out a lot of what was taught was incorrect when it came to Social Studies and History. I actually got in trouble for correcting my history teacher...even after I brought in proof I was indeed correct. Reading Comprehension, basic mathematics and an understanding of how society works....the things I do utilize everyday...I learned at home. Now I know that is not true for everyone, depending on what career you may pursue or even your hobbies. Personally, School was a big waste of time just to get a piece of paper saying "I know things". |

I don't care for Uni *sigh* College, I am really only doing it because I have scholarships and I was almost done with my associates by the time I finished HS, so I didn't have to spend as much time in College before I could be done with school. I was homeschooled, so I actually did learn things. I also learned how to learn (basically self-taught and motivated), and how to work. I definitely learned far more from being homeschooled than I have from College. I've found with college that unless you really really apply yourself and want/try to learn the subject, you can basically fake it all the way to an 'A'. Most students just work to pass the class. They don't try to learn. I don't know how it is in the public school system, but that just seems wrong to me. The only thing I didn't get from being homeschooled was a knowledge of how to be social. I'm extremely introverted, and up until about 3 years ago, I did not know how to be social/make friends, and I'm still not great at it, but I feel like it was an acceptable trade-off for the quality of education I had.

Achery for the kids? YES! Signed my kid up for lessons after he went to Cub Scout camp and shot a bow for the first time. He is enjoying it so much he is getting a second round of basic in November, his own bow for Christmas and advance lessons for his birthday. |

Disagree. And besides, even if that was the case I'd have rather not spent $80k for someone to vouch for my learning ability. My degree is such that I did indeed learn a lot from my major but everytime I had to deal with the Uni "core" classes "waste of time and money" doesnt even come close to the experience. Frankly I have only the faintest dregs of faith in our education system. But thats all ill say on that so as not to drift close to rule-breaking. |
