"Apparantly he was sporting an Ultra Heavy blade, Dangerous stuff! " LOL Title: Re: Has anyone ever had problems with airport security? Post by: Ultra on January 04, 2011, 12:42:39 PM Put them in a locked rifle case (using TSA approved locks, of course) and then check them. You can get a cheap rifle case at Walmart. Let the person behind the counter know that they are "lightsaber replicas". I've done this, and everything was fine.

Title: Re: Has anyone ever had problems with airport security? Post by: Kaiser Xander on January 04, 2011, 09:05:33 PM Yeah, that would really suck. Wouldn't it be funny though to see airport security beating offenders with lightsabers instead of police batons?

Title: Re: Has anyone ever had problems with airport security? Post by: Aelde Renn on January 05, 2011, 01:16:20 AM I talked to airport security before I flew back to the States from the Middle East. I had three sabers to bring home. After discussing it with them, I opted to put them in checked bags, and left the blades there. I had replacements shipped to my destination. Their point is that anything that COULD be used as a weapon is not allowed, and they felt that the hilts could be used as a blunt instrument to cause injury! ::)
Title: Re: Has anyone ever had problems with airport security? Post by: Kaiser Xander on January 05, 2011, 01:27:34 AM Well darn! THAT plan won't work...lol.
Title: Re: Has anyone ever had problems with airport security? Post by: Ultra on January 05, 2011, 11:50:00 AM That's International travel for you. Thankfully for domestic travelers, things are a little more lenient. I was able to transport my firearms on an airplane recently, just had to follow the same protocols. Locked TSA case, inform TSA of weapons. Had to fill out a form for the guns, but I was able to take em.
Now, if you want some scared looks in an airport, walk away from the baggage claim with a rifle case. 8) Title: Re: Has anyone ever had problems with airport security? Post by: Jammo on January 06, 2011, 07:09:39 AM Let them have a look to avoid any misunderstandings and you should be fine.

Title: Re: Has anyone ever had problems with airport security? Post by: thejedimasternick on January 12, 2011, 12:51:19 AM Yes! Hah! A couple of times actually. Traveling to Comic-Con from Texas. Basically I had the saber out to actually see what it is, and I had some taken apart so they could look at them. Tried going through airport security and the guy was freaking out about them. He didn't know what they were. So, I think the big problem was he never saw a lightsaber before. His co-workers were laughing about it and so were the people behind me. So, not much of a problem, just something to laugh about on the way to California.
