Title: Question about the swiches. Post by: Venedlor on January 20, 2013, 06:38:29 AM Looking and I see that the switches that are offered here are momentary switches. I know the basic operation on how this kind of switch works. My question is, when you take pressure off the switch, will the blade turn off (meaning that the switch needs constant pressure to keep the blade on)?
I found another switch that I think meets my needs, however the size is just a little bit off, +0.005" with rounding. The switches sold here are 5/8" (0.625") and the ones I found are 16mm (0.629921), will this 0.00491" (0.005") difference mean that the other ones will be to big to fit? Or would it just be a little tight? Title: Re: Question about the swiches. Post by: swords4two on January 20, 2013, 02:43:33 PM Nope you press the switch it turns on. you press it again it turns off.. If you have sound when it is on you press the switch down you will get the flash on clash locking fx. I.E blaster fire ,saber locks etc.
So the answer is no you don't have to keep a finger on the button after it is on. Title: Re: Question about the swiches. Post by: Sandtracker on January 20, 2013, 02:50:15 PM If your doing a stunt saber, you'll need a latching switch, not a momentary.
Title: Re: Question about the swiches. Post by: kagemusha shin on January 20, 2013, 06:55:00 PM The av switch with sound is you push once its on push again its on FOC hold for a second it's off. The standard switch if with sound works the same way without sound push once its on push again its off. If you are getting sound get an av switch much sleeker and will not abrupt your saber dueling.

Latching is your basic on/off switch. Press once, here a click and it is on. Press again, here the click and it is off. Momentary is used to control the multifunctions of the sound board. Press once for activation. Press a second time for lock up effects and press a third time for back to basic operation. To turn off, you hold the switch and it turns the saber off. You can get both styles in the momentary configuration. Latching switches are only available in the guarded style. Hopefully this clears any confusion. On a side note, Ultrasabers uses a press fit for it's switches. The holes are slightly smaller than the switch so that they can press into the hole and not come out without a pair of pliers and determination. Prevents the use of an internal nut that would be very hard to tighten in some models. Blue |
