Title: The Light-foil a traditonal take on curved sabers
Post by: DarthCooper88 on February 27, 2013, 06:07:48 PM
Here is a little project that I have been twiddling on for a little while now. I just got it back from my powder coater, the finish is called "Jolly-pop copper-orange" This is a hilt I designed strictly for Makashi one handed styles and also Tai-chi Yang saber style. I have the electronics in hand, it will run off of one 14650 li-ion w/recharge port, I'm thinking the font Korriban , which mimics Count-Dooku's saber . I chose a Lux 3 bin 4 Amber which will be set for 1400ma with resistor (not much space in this hilt, it's little ;D) , 20 mm high performance speaker and possibly a pommel accent led. nothing in this hilt is standard, I carved it all from billet except for the foil. Enjoy :D

The hilt looks spectacular - definitely unique - and the amber LED was/will be a superb choice. Looking forward to seeing it completed, here's a point.

Thanks guys! ;D I'm working on a more streamlined version of this, I have a source for the Epee's and didnt realized theyre are a dozen different sizes with choices in both left and right hand...might make a couple few of these hard to say, my pipeline is getting filled quick with custom work.

Ok here it is finished! with the dinky 20mm 3 watt base speaker it seems plenty loud for as small as it is. during final install, I just had enough space for the wiring to fit with out breaking out the skills of Cram-Fu!

Cooper...you make some of the most wonderful toys, here is your well earned point and my admiration.

Is the blade yellow or orange?

Holy smokes that is gorgeous! Your light katanas and now light foils are crazy.  8) Point

@ Kham Also I  believe the blade color is amber. He stated so in the first post, but it could have been switch out for something else.

Its a weird orangy yellow color(the led is discontinued I would think to it not quite being yellow enough), which seems toxically Sith ( I have a Palpatine quote for the boot sound and Korriban for the font which mimics Dooku's saber) it also has a nice blade shimmer as well, I'll post a vid soon, here is a pic with me holding it for scale

You are definitely the most inventive person I know of when it comes to building sabers

First the Katanas, then the protosaber, now THIS!

Hats off to my fellow Michigander!

Awesome thing, really. It's a shame this LED is no longer in production. However, I hope to simulate this color with potentiometers. I don't see it as "toxically Sith" and totally can see a not nice Jedi Sentinel (like a Shadow, for example) use it.

The foil design is awesome, too. In fact, from now on this will be the lightsaber of Shadowmaster Belg Kiybo, a major character in my fanfic.
