Title: May 4th - Whatchu wearin'?
Post by: CZ3RO on May 01, 2013, 08:16:55 PM
Anyone dressing up to celebrate May the Fourth (be with you)?

Wearing your costume to work?  A party?  Just out shopping?

Post pics here of your planned outfit (and maybe on Revenge of the Fifth continue to post actual pictures from the 4th).   :D

That's my sister's birthday, so probably won't wear anything too Star Wars-y.  :(

Smuggle your lightsaber on your belt, sans blade.  ;)

Okay, I'm replying to my own thread - a little desperate, I know...

I'll be wearing my Inquisitioner costume with an updated belt and if I finish it in time, a brand new wrist cybernetic with more LEDs!  :D

Also, there's an event at a nightclub here in Toronto put on by a local geek community website with prizes and other cool Star Wars stuff; very excited.

Many pics to follow - there should be a lot of great costumes there.

Well it's free comic book day, so we are cruising over to the shop. Then it's back to the house to watch the saga.

Don't have a covertec.  I may try to work something out anyway.  /evilgrin

Although, I'm pretty sure they'd notice if I hooked my DWG to my belt with a carabiner.

Not dressing up, but throwing a party here. Watching the movies, ordered a star wars cake *excited*, and saber fights after :P

I was hoping to wear my Sith Costume that I've been working on, but because of a bunch of financial issues, such as the recent need to repair my Ultrasaber and save money for that, I've been sort of unable to focus on that at all.

So...

I'll probably just end up wearing a geeky t-shirt or something and make references to the series all day long. Even though I tend to do that anyway.

IDK, I work that day. Might figure out something, Surprisingly I don't have much star wars clothing, beyond my costume. I might buy something though. At the mall where I work we have a Geek Clothing store.

I'm going to a wedding. I don't think the bride and groom will appreciate me dragging along my light saber or costume
so it'll just be a red party dress for me
... But I think I might get photos with my saber beforehand :D

My Shock LE will be involved either way.

I'll be sitting at home wearing a bathrobe and finishing my university thesis, you know. Star Wars is cool, but I'm graduating.

Point for priorities.  Well played.  Plus, the bathrobe is kinda like a Jedi Robe.  Sorta.

I'm assuming the bathrobe is a jedi bathrobe?

If you can imagine a Jedi clad in sky blue with stripes and yellow autumn leaves, yes, it's a Jedi robe. But one of a very strange Jedi indeed.

IDK, I have seen some pretty flamboyant attire in some Coruscanti nightclubs. I wouldn't worry.

It's a genuine Alderaanian Jedi Consular robe!  Or something like that.

I will be wearing a hardhat and coveralls. I have to work tomarrow. The factory where I work is a nasty, dirty, place...it seriously needs a few Ugnaughts walking around. :)

I'll be wearing my ultrasabers shirt that says "If you think I'm sexy, you should see my lightsaber." on the back.

I'm wearing my Jedi duds, and driving up to Rancho Cucamonga for an event they're having there, the 501st is supposed to be there, and it should be a fun day. Then it's a SW Marathon for us.

I have a meeting for a Steampunk group I'm a part of but I fully plan on at least wearing my robe and bringing a crappy toy lightsaber along.  I don't yet have a US, but in a couple of weeks when I have a bit of spending money I'll be finally ordering one!

I don't know that you can anymore, they used to sell them on the main site.

Well, I was going to put a Rebel Bird on an orange tank top, but it will definitely not be tank top weather here tomorrow.  So...  maybe an Indiana Jones t-shirt?  That at least has Harrison Ford on it.  :-\

sigh, sadly we were running late, and I didn't have time :( as it was I didn't have time to strap my ankle before going, had to do that there! (bad ankle, have to have it strapped to dance) but at least we arrived before the bride walked down the aisle! (or across the bridge in her case)
so you don't get to see me wearing a red party dress and holding a lightsaber :( I think I will however get pics in my wedding dress holding a lightsaber when the time comes! heh!

Ingenious use for an old voltmeter! The new one looks cool too! Point 8)

What does this voltmeter measure? Force Lightning?

Haha, maybe.  Glad I upgraded, that thing was too anachronistic (for Star Wars, anyway).  I originally made that wrist for a space-pirate costume, so I just used any old junk that was 'techie-looking'.

Looks good everyone.  I ended up not really wearing anything since I was going to meet my sister and all her friends for a birthday dinner.  None of them are remotely nerdy enough to appreciate May the Fourth, sadly.

I did watch Episode IV and I got a good carabiner to use for putting my DWG on my belt though.

I wore a "vintage" star wars T-shirt, played some SWTOR when I could, and also watched a few of the movies.

Okay, so here's a little recap of my May 4th, in pictures.  :)

My daytime attire:

My Starbucks run while finishing last minute costume pieces:

Suited up!

The wife as Imperial Era MJ (she made this side-by-side to show her friends who she was, since some of them are not too savvy on the Expanded Universe).
It's a work in progress - we're building some armour pieces next:

My friend as an Ewok (if you look closely, you can see the ears):

They gave out cheap blue "light-up-swords" again this year, it's a nice touch.  Also, there were a few other Jedi, Sith, ewoks, droids and misc SW types there, which I failed to snag any pictures of - I'll post'em here later if they show up on Facebook or where ever.

...and some aftermath when we finally stumbled home:

All in all it was a good time!  :D
