Scorpion (https://www.ultrasabers.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=Stunt-Scorpion)

Ultrasabers is proud to present the new Scorpion.  This saber features a flanged emitter with windows in the emitter AND directly below the emitter.  The windows really make this saber look amazing when the blade is illuminated.  Check out the video or see the picture below for yourself and prepare to be awestruck!  Another stand out feature on this saber is the claw on the emitter.  With the pattern on the back of the claw and the unique curvature of the claw it adds a flare unique to the Scorpion that will make this a stand out saber in your arsenal.  In addition to all that, the Scorpion features a shroud that provides an accented look with the pattern around the switch and on the rear of the saber body.   This give the saber a very unique look and a very unique feel in your hands.  However, one of the best features of the Scorpion is the pommel.  This is a highly coveted pommel design and Ultrasaber has added a unique twist on this pommel design and made the ridges on the pommel pointed.  We wanted to make sure our Scorpion had both STINGERS and CLAWS!

This saber is built with the highest quality T6 Aircraft grade aluminum. It will stand up to rigorous use time and again. The materials used to forge this weapon are second to none. Aircraft grade aluminum and CNC machined precision goes into the creation of every saber in the Ultrasaber.

This saber comes standard with a covertec wheel installed.

The saber comes completely assembled and ready to go. The pommel on this saber is MHS compatible.  This saber is 14.5" long from emitter to pommel and 1.5" wide at the body.  This saber is 19.5" long from the pommel to the top of the claw.

I love the pommel on this saber!

OMG. I love this...

Deep you have out done yourselves!

That Shroud is ingenious!
Emitter is amazing with a built in Crystal Chamber! With a Claw!
Covertec is in my Fav place!
Pommel is a Awesome Dark Version on the Guardian!

Only one feature missing...a MHS Emitter, and thus quick disconnect.
But I am sure that is due to the emitter complexity.

Now I have to decide what color to get this in, since I cant get change the color easy.

PS: Do I see a saber stand that is kick ass???

Also PS: Can we get the ability to buy that pommel separately?

By Vader's codpiece that is freaking AWESOME.

I do hope that claw is removable like on the Raven, 'Glaive, and Reaper; its potential on other hilts knows no bounds.

I'm going to try and get me one sometime in July if I can if I still have any money left over from our Colorado trip. =] The design reminds me of Dooku's hilt how the claw was made.

Wow. That's a heck of an intimidating 'sabre. Excellent work - I love the detailing around the button. It's a small thing, but it nicely breaks up the heavy black of the hilt.

+1 on the button details...and the side etching.  It took me a while to warm up to the Reapers, but the second I saw the Scorpion I knew my VISA was doomed...yet again.   :-[  ;D  Had a few reward $'s plus the Father's Day sale...Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!

Overlord

We're on the same page man.  I think this one looks like an evil nasty Overlord.  And I mean that in the best way possible!  I love the AV switch detail and the double windows.  Still up in the air about the choke point, but I'm sure it'll grow on me.

@Aurick. You will have one awesome saber then. I gotta wait awhile to get mine. Lol. Mine will be in Violet Amethyst with an Ultra Edge Mid Grade blade and no sound though. Wanting this as a stunt so. Unless something else cool comes out when we get back from Colorado.

wow this saber is soooo awsome! is it all 1 piece? i want that emitter!

I checked it out on the site, only the pommel is MHS. I saw it didn't have the Quick Disconnect and read further on. It said emitter is fixed. Too bad though, I would love this emitter too! Oh well, I'll settle for the whole thing! Now if only I had the cash...

Title: Re: New Saber: Ultrasabers Scorpion
Post by: Darth Antricus on June 15, 2013, 02:58:42 AM
At some point, US should totally do an emitter with horizontal windows & have it cover a little more of the blade.  I keep waiting for a high quality saber like Starkiller used in TFU2 where you could see more of the energy of the blade within the hilt.

Post by: legion91 on June 15, 2013, 05:51:27 AM
That looks sick! I really like the look of the detail work around the switch and on the body.

So, I'm alone in thinking - lose the claw?

I love it, I really do, but I didn't like the claws on the Reapers, and I don't care for the claw on this one.

I'm with you. I like the claws on the Reapers but I like the idea of this one without it. I imagine that without the claw it would look more like a Jedi saber and it would show off the windows better.

OK, I'm gonna throw an idea out there and please don't shoot me but, does this saber (WHICH I LOVE!!!!) remind anyone else of what might have happened/been constructed if Obi-wan HAD joined Count Dooku after the death of Qui-gon Jinn? It strikes me a little as a "what if Obi-wan turned" kind of saber, and I LOVE IT for that!

Did anyone else notice that this saber isn't offered with a kill key, but it does have a recharge port option? It might make sense to have no recharge port at all with the whole thing being a shroud and all, but if you can get a recharge port, then why no kill key?

Title: Re: New Saber: Ultrasabers Scorpion
Post by: turiansniper on June 16, 2013, 05:11:15 AM
I vaguely remember reading somewhere there might be a problem with the kill key set up so maybe it's been pulled until the problem is resolved.

First, kill keys are stupid and a complete waste of money.  Just want to clear the air on that.  But some users are willing to pay extra for it and so we are willing to offer it and install it still.

Any who, recharge ports with kill keys are different from recharge ports without kill keys.  The Recharge Port that we use on this saber and the Guardian only have 2 terminals, positive and negative, there is no 3rd terminal for a kill key.  Thus kill keys are not available on these sabers because the ports required for a kill key do not fit onto these sabers.

Title: Re: New Saber: Ultrasabers Scorpion
Post by: Sky Dragon c5 on June 16, 2013, 06:02:21 AM
^Agreed Deep, like you said, how can you then mount them and use them as accent lighting?

Also you can then connect the saber to your computer and have it plugged in.

Also what in the world uses a kill key? Your phone, laptop, tablet, game system? No they don't because it is stupid...you cant use it while charging...

This thing is freaking amazing, I love it!

Seriously, your hilt designs just keep getting better and better, there's some seriously nice detailing on this thing. I guess the only drawback is the lack of quick disconnects, which means I might have quite a time deciding what color to get. Purple might look good, but so might yellow.

Yeah, I have been swamped at work and not on my computer much (except doing work - ughhh).  But, the Scorpion here looks AMAZING!  WOW! I am thinking PO or BR as well for a blade color.  It just looks like a Sith, full, all out, fighting hilt!

Okay, I'm hooked, even the Raven (1 of my fav's that I must have) is on Deal of the Day right now.  US is making it hard for me to save up money!

I really like this Scorpion though, it will be in my arsenal 1 day!

I really really like this one, the design is almost flawless........my only gripe is the claw.  I don't like the claw (I've never liked clawed emitters. no offense to those that do though ;) ) I love the rest of the saber, even the rest of the emitter with the cool window.  The paint scheme has a wonderful mix of silver and black.  The hilt looks really sharp and has a lot of detail and I'll bet it's very comfortable to hold.  I like the spikes on the pommel too.  Except for the claw this would probably be the next saber on my list.  If I could get one without the claw and with the claw side of the emitter altered to mirror the side with the window, thus making the emitter symmetrical with two window sides, I'd probably get this saber next.  Not sure which color would go best with it, hmmmmmmm....

Truly amazing saber, lover the emitter and the pommel is one of my favourites!

I was wondering from the video, is the Scorpion in CG shorter that the other, could just be me but they didn't look to be the same length, assuming its not just my eyes, what is the differences between them?

I think it is just perspective.  I could be wrong but I'm not aware of different size hilts.

Hey guys

I'm sure this has been covered elsewhere by probably Plagueis himself but I feel this is important to add to here as well:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Te30scUSXmA# (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Te30scUSXmA#)

there's alot more MHS compatibility to this thing than meets the eye!!  :o

needless to say, I think I'm toast.  It looks very cool bone stock, Ultra, you guys have really knocked it out of the park with this one, but man oh man I can't wait to customize it further for my own intentions.  This thing truly is a special kind of beast!

I gotta ask, am I the only one who sees this not only as a great Sith Saber but also for Jedi too?  I can't help but see this thing as very "Tales of the Jedi" in style and look.  Adding that to my already preconceived notions of Nautolans being a sort of art-deco/dieselpunk culture... yeah, this thing is awesome.

...now to convince the Lady this is the saber for me, and to see if I can get this baby in time for the raffle  8) :o She is a DotD right now  ;D

Trying to make my mind up about this saber, it looks absolutely awesome, but I was wondering if it was comfortable to wield at 14.5 inches, as I plan on getting the Guardian at some point as its one of my favourite saber designs and I have heard comments about that being rather long and heavy and that's shorter than the Scorpion  :-\

I think it all depends on a person's background to be honest, so the question really is what you are used to.

for me, for example.  I love the Shock LE and many other sleek designs that Ultrasabers has, and it's my plan to have an arsenal regardless.  However, I'm used to a 9 pound 60" sword that had a 14" hilt.  It's a Scottish Claymore.  So for me, heavy grade long blades on a larger hilt are almost a must and I've been debating on the Bellicose, Bane, Overlord, and Scorpion for my first lightsaber.

it all really depends on your background.  For me, with a nice heavy blade, I'm sure I'll enjoy any of those four and have little getting used to, because they are lighter than what I'm used to all around, and their balance is spot on.  I do something cute and tiny, Aeon V3 LE comes to mind, where it's still a nice long hilt, but weighs nothing by comparison from what I've found, and yeah, it'd take me some getting used to for the opposite reasons of most others.

either way though, practice, practice, practice, and you'd be fine with any of them.  Their balances from what I've seen of other's reviews looks amazing regardless of the hilt, and that's the most important part.

That's an interesting point, tbh I still need a lot more practice duelling lightsabers (need to get more friends into it ;)) but I guess the closest thing I have that practice techniques with would be a 40" katana which has a 12 1/2" hilt and that feels very comfortable to wield. so basically when you put it like that length and weight is never really going to be and issue, as you say practice will fix anything :)

I am curious to know what you use your claymore for though ? ;)

My Grandmother's maiden name is Kearney, her mother's was Wallace.  Needless to say, for me "to gruw upp pro-pur Eye needs sum time wit da twoo main blades of Scotland in may hands."  Yeah, I've been working with Claymore and Scottish Backsword since I was 5.

Now I have a question for you, what do you use your lightsabers for? ;)

It doesn't list quick disconnect as an option.  I guess you could e-mail them and see if they could add it.

Want to get my in either SRD or Emerald green, though I really want the forum colours to be finalised so they can be default options, I get rather confused given the notes etc and how the colour change actually works. But yeah< i think EG would work with this blade quite nicely, especially with a silver or orange AV switch.

Just need the right price now :/

I bet EG would look really cool on the Scorpion.  I would probably go with silver on the AV switch.  Seems like it would complement the green better.

I have the guardian and I used to think it was too big and heavy to do cool moves with but now that ive gotten better ( ive had my sabers for over a year now) the guardian is absolutely awsome! the weight and size actually make the saber EASIER to spin hella fast, it just took a lot of getting used to.

I so want to give you a million points however I can only give 1...I'll have to come back for another round of points.

Can't really see the Scorpion as a Jedi saber. For colors for me it would have to be in either BR, VA, DVA, or PO. I still think its too long of a saber for me. Can't imagine one with a 40 inch blade. Those that have a Scorpion already, is it easy to get used to a 19 inch long hilt? Still think it would be awesome to have one especially in VA.

I just got my Scorpion last night and my first impression is that I love this saber. I talked my buddy into getting a heavy grade saber of his own, when it arrives next week ill give the scorpion a good combat testing.
The scorpion is definently a big and powerful saber which suits me fine because im a pretty big guy standing over 6 ft 5" i could definenlty see this being to much saber for people of a smaller physique. A long blade is also a must in this saber, the emitter holds about 4 inches of the blade firmly in the hilt which i think will make the blade very sturdy in combat but like i said I havent given it a combat test yet, because of this though I would definently recommend a 36" blade minimum, 40" would be preferable.
The saber handles exceedingly well, the emitter is easily the most comfortable of any saber ive held it really allows you to grip safely close to the blade for great speed and control, also the hilt is so long and easily manipulated in your hands I cant see this being a saber that gets dropped easily.
Overall its a beatiful saber I got mine in classic guardian blue which looks amazing, the windows are awesome, the claw is pretty kool if your into them (im not a claw person and I had mine removed looks great either way) the black and silver accent each other so well in this saber, I really cant say anything negative im very happy with it.

OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!! I just got this saber not even an hour ago and it is AWESOME!!!!!!! I got it in AS color(which looks soooo good) also got the color disks so I can switch it up. So I would definitely say it is more of a dark side saber but put a light side color on it and I don't think anyone will try and argue its elegance!

After my first order from Ultrasabers last August with the Initiate V3 in Guardian Blue, I just couldn't wait anymore and had to order a second one with the Emerald Driver.
It took me quite a while though to decide which one, because they all look fantastic.

Hats off at this point to the guys at Ultrasabers for their fantastic work. 8) :)

After bouncing forth and back between the Manticore and Scorpion, the reviews for the latter ultimately got my attention.
So, I placed an order for the Scorpion with the Emerald Driver on monday morning (GMT+1)  *_*

Although it's said to be more of a Sith saber given the sleek design and sinister look with aspects such as the spiked pommel, I defined the preconfigured color to be in Arctic Blue.

I'm curious though.
A couple of posts around here state that it's best for two handed combat.
I understand that because the hilt seems to be pretty big (not just by the numbers) compared to other sabers, but...has anyone tried to handle it with one hand and do a couple of spinning techniques?
Suppose it becomes tiring to spin around 2,5pounds, right?
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
PS: Call me crazy, but waiting for the mail delivery now feels a little like waiting for christmas. :D

You thought it was smaller than advertised? I nearly crapped myself when I finally saw mine. When I ordered, I thought it was going to be about the size of the Shock is. But then I also thought the Shock was smaller until I got one. Any more I just hope for a glimpse of Emory's hand in the videos to help me gauge the size of a saber. They need hand models.

Given with the black shrouding over the main body and the claw making this more of a Sith-oriented weapon, has anyone inquired about this saber without the shrouding for more of a light-side feel? Or do people basically just shrug and point to the Guardian as the equivalent light-side saber?

I think doing the Arbiter/Dark Arbiter type contrasts would be awesome for the Scorpion.

Lord Canterbury was working on a Scorp SE. It looked pretty sharp. Without the claw, and perhaps a substituted Guardian pommel, it could look less sinister in appearance. I took off the claw on mine and subbed the emitter and pommel for a Flamberge emitter and Menace pommel, to help a friend decide if a Scorpion could be shrunk to 12" in length. The spikes and claw definitely lend to the Sith persona of this hilt.

So this beauty is definitely gonna be my eventual saber that I go all-out on: Emerald Driver, Obsidian sound board, the works.  People say that this thing screams Sith, and while that's certainly the case, one could argue that it'd make a very appealing Grey Jedi saber as well.  It's got a nice blend of both Dark and Light aesthetics.  Saw a review of this baby in Sunrider's Destiny, and it looks amazing.  Might go with that color myself.

Oh I'm well aware.  The specs say its 14.5 inches without the claw, and since I have a terrible sense of eyeballing, I pulled out a length of tape to get a sense of it.  It'll be big, for sure, but then again I have oven mitts for hands, so I shouldn't have too much trouble.  This baby's too pretty to pass up.

EDIT: I imagine you could save an inch or two, and several ounces by forgoing the standard-issue pommel for something shorter.  Might look into that when I get it.

He might have meant that it's not just long, but thicker than most, since it has an outer sleeve over the main hilt.

Yeah, I saw a review video that had someone take the outer sleeve off.  But like I said, I actually prefer wider, as my hands are quite large.  This little beauty isn't the kind you one-hand, anyway, from the review video I saw.  If I want a spinning saber, I'll grab a Catalyst.

I did. The shroud adds about an extra .125" to the body diameter. The emitter and the shroud section with the horizontal vents are also sizable chunks of metal. I would say it weighs roughly 30% more than the average MHS saber. Like the Archon or Shock models.

Despite the weight however, it is incredibly well balanced for both single and double handed grips.

All in due time. The movie release coupled with Christmas has resulted in a buying spree like I've never seen hit Ultrasabers. If memory serves, it usually takes US anywhere from 4-6 weeks to regain stock of a saber. (BTW I like your tastes.) The website says 3-4 weeks for fabricating, which makes me wonder if they have had to resort to making each saber from scratch to meet order demands. Hope this helps.

Your comments about color mixing in windows has me concerned about the Scorpion I intended to be my next high-end saber.  How deep, past the windows in the shroud, is the LED for your Scorpion?  I'd intended to get it with an Emerald driver, now I'm worrying about mixed colors not looking good at the shroud window.

It has been my experience that Emerald mixes better. Not sure why. If memory serves, the MLS on the Scorp is very deep (around 4" from emitter face). Possibly deep enough that the windows won't be an issue.

Nope, no claw.  I'm not a claw type person.  Will it further outrage you to learn that the first thing I'm going to do is change out the pommel and cannibalize the original Scorpion pommel for parts?   ;)

If I add a pulse, it'll probably be for a blade flicker effect...not to mention that the saber will also spend a fair amount of time being NOT red.

Oh, and I got shipping notification when I woke up this morning.

If I add a pulse, it'll probably be for a blade flicker effect...not to mention that the saber will also spend a fair amount of time being NOT red.

Oh, and I got shipping notification when I woke up this morning.

Meh. My Mantis arrived in BH, and has spent most of its life in AB.

Do you have any ideas about what you're going to do for a pommel? I'm pushing round Malice pommels lately. I don't see them enough, and they look cool. I'm thinking that that pommel will line up nicely with the neck of the Scorp pommel. Then you'd have a very unique look.

I know exactly what I'm planning on using as a pommel.  Pics in a few days, if it all works out.   ;)

I can tell you that the "dome" and spikes align perfectly with the body shroud, which looks pretty cool as well.

It's due to arrive on Saturday, so I look forward to posting it in the Gallery at that time.

:o THAT IS SO BAD ASS!!  You guys at Ultrasabers never seize to amaze me. The new Scorpion with dual sets of windows in the emitter and below the emitter is genius. Looks amazing! I am a Ultrasabers fan for life!!

I just got my new Scorpion Wednesday.  It is amazing.

I ordered it on Friday the 22nd and asked if it was possible to get ASAP.  And did they ever.  It was shipped out on Monday.  By no fault of US it didn't get here until Wednesday.  The "Fastest ship in the shipping business" FedEx for some reason derped.  It made it to Atlanta at 4am.  There is a direct FedEx flight to Buffalo NY.  Nope.  They sent it to Cleveland!  So called them up and had some very unkind things to say.

Short story they finally got it to me.

And let me tell you it is awesome!  I am a big guy so its weight is not a problem.  I got it with the claw.  I got a bit of light dueling with it on Thursday.  The power you generate for a parry due to its weight if formidable.

So tell me your take on its balance. Personally, I think it's superb.

Huge thanks to Ultrasabers and their generosity with the raffles for the Crimson Scorpion.  The black one is GRBA Emerald, and the red is RGBW Emerald.

Just noticed your signature list. Are you ripping my style by naming a secret project?

Nope.  I had Project:  Undercover (which is a development of "pint-sized powerhouse", and is in the thread by that name) in mind for quite some time before you first mentioned Project:  BOOYA, and have had Projects: Havoc and Chimera in mind for even longer.  Call it great minds thinking alike.

Oh, I did notice someone else putting a "Project: somethingorother" in their sig line the other day, though.  I think it's catching on.

+1 great minds and trend setting. ;)

I, for one, can't wait to see what BOOYA is.  I similarly can't wait for my backorder delayed components to get here for Havoc and Chimera.  At least I can get everything bar installing the emitters done on Havoc without the missing components.  Chimera is totally on hold until I get that order in.

Still need to buy a breadboard, soon, and I almost forgot that I'm going to need to order blades.

Unfortunately, I don't trust people with knowledge. Power is dangerous.

But you have brought a fun thread idea to mind...

Personally, I was thinking that it might be fun to have a once-a-year contest for the build-it-yourself/customization crowd.  Not sure what the structure of such a thing would be, but it seems a fun notion.

Kind of like a World's Fair of saber customizations?

So, after having two Scorpions to play with for a bit (one for a couple weeks, the other for a day now), I am amazed at just how nimble and handy this saber is, especially considering its size.

And it works extraordinarily well in delivering agile thrusts.

It's big, and intimidating, but still very quick and precise to work with.

After finals, I'll have time to do a dual-Scorpion video review, and I'm looking forward to it.
