Title: Converted Standard Edition Battle Saber v3 to golden yellow Post by: Lev on March 03, 2016, 09:25:58 AM Hi all,
Recently been working on my friends Standard Edition Battle Saber v3. This saber was originally in Artic Blue, but my friend got bored and wanted a change up. We installed a yellow LED, with a matching 12v LED switch. The switch is latching, as his saber is a stunt without sound. Also added a brown leather grip, and o-rings for some extra detail. The colour of this yellow i can only describe as a very rich golden yellow... it's very striking and the pictures don't quite do it justice. In order to power the switch and main LED properly, we also upgraded his setup from standard AAA's to Li-ion ;D This thing turned out very bright too, it's currently in a heavy grade blade and seems to be evenly lit. Somewhere in between my normal sabers and tri-cree saber in terms of brightness. Although i have heard yellow is a bright colour any way? :) The best bit being that we purchased all the parts needed to do this from Amazon for under £20! (he was extremely happy) (http://i.imgur.com/pAXjnkW.jpg) (http://i.imgur.com/pTzg4Q7.jpg) Anyways, thought i'd share some pics of our latest tinkering. Here is a link to this particular yellow LED - http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B013EGLKKK?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s00 And switch, if anyone is interested - http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00TXND1SI?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00 Just keep in mind these switches are 16mm, and cannot be directly swapped instead of a black guarded switch. We had to drill the hole bigger to fit this in :) Title: Re: Converted Standard Edition Battle Saber v3 to golden yellow Post by: Kouri on March 03, 2016, 01:27:26 PM Nifty. A Cree Amber (US Fire Orange) LED would've been a bit brighter at the same 590nm wavelength, but those Amazon LEDs aren't terrible for building on a budget.

It was definitely fun, we have replaced 90% of the original electrical's with our own and it was fun to learn how it all works. Yellow has definitely grown on me too, may be a colour to invest in myself in the future... ;D Title: Re: Converted Standard Edition Battle Saber v3 to golden yellow Post by: sedstiskyfaller on March 03, 2016, 05:02:13 PM Nice saber! I really like the grip on the center. This one is like the lighter version of my DSI I converted in a similar way :) +1 for sharing
