I feel doubly lucky: - firstly, was going to order a saber anyway, so winning a second one is a bonus; - secondly, I won a third prize, so it's possible I only won a prize because the number of prizes was increased from 50 to 104. Problem is, with the sound + Emerald boards in place, it was really tight to get the battery pack out, and the emitter isn't MHS compatible so it's not easy going in that way either. Basically, a perfect storm of factors adding up to a 'sabre that spent almost of its time looking great, feeling great and not lit up too often :-\ Next time I'll go for it with sound only... and probably a non-illuminated AV switch to remind me to do my research more thoroughly, too :D Title: Re: Ultrasabers Spring Raffle 2016 Winners Post by: sylinmino on March 19, 2016, 10:32:07 PM So a few weeks ago I had bought a couple Initiates V4, blue saber, just to check out the build quality of these sabers and also because I wanted to duel with them. And they were awesome! Then I bought a grab bag stunt saber and I ended up getting an Aeon V4, red blade, and it was even more awesome!
Finally I decided I'll buy one more saber, and a really good buffed out one, so I could use that one and friends who want to try them out can use the others, and this raffle came along so it was a good opportunity. Bought an emerald Consular with Obsidian sound, and will be expecting it soon... ...and now I won first prize and will now be getting TWO ridiculously buffed out sabers for what I paid?! I'd have to agree with both statements. The fault doesn't lie with US at all, but the shipping rates on their main site do need to reflect new prices. It would of been nice to of been notified of this shipping change in advance to give me longer to prepare for it. I ordered a Crimson Scorpion (no claw), obsidian premium sound, Artic Blue (white flash on clash), with various other options. This hilt was on backorder and when I sent in an email asking for a guesstimate eta I was told it wouldn't be available for fabrication until the end of April. I was fine with that, thats not a very long delay for a backordered item so no worries. But it showed up more than a full month BEFORE that earliest time. Awesome job and thank you guys so much :D it was a wonderful surprise.
That hilt is shown in my pictures with a Overlord Pommel, instead of the normal Crimson Scorpion Pommel because I thought the spiky bits looked a bit too ostentatious. I wanted something a bit sleeker and more elegant, and I am very happy with this slight alteration. Side note: The Overlord Pommel makes the sabers sound a bit louder than the original Scorpion Pommel. My 4th place Raffle prize was a Aeon v3 stunt saber in consular green. Which is just great because when deciding on my first saber this hilt made it into my top 5. It has the sleek clean look and feel that I am drawn to. Never have I wanted a long weekend to go by so quickly before! lol I have been happy to see everyone else posting their prizes, because it gave me something to do with my time waiting. lol My Raffle enter was a Raven (to be used with my Starkiller Dark Lord's Armor (hoth) Costume). BR, FoC Silver, No Recharge Port, Standard 36" with rounded tip, Normal Claws and Pommel (I actually measured the claws because I thought they were too long, but they are the right ones lol, SS claws would have been way too long for my needs lol.), Sound V4, Red illuminated AV switch, Silver Covertec wheel on the pommel end. I think I was actually more excited to see which 4th place prize I was going to get, than getting the saber I had ordered. lol I was going to be happy with whatever I got as a prize, but ofc some sabers and LED colors would be more desirable for my Costuming needs. At the top of my Private wish list was the Shock LE with a Red LED, 2nd on my Private wish list was Bane with a Red or Violet LED, and then in 3rd place I was just hoping it was a straight saber (not curved, not red or blue, nothing with cross guards or side blades), but let me say again, I would have been happy with whatever I got, no matter what it was. Then the doorbell rang, after 4 days of waiting with my Box 1 hour away, it was finally here. I got my box and opened it, Out came the Raven, and then out came, DRUM ROLL please.................................................................................BAMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMN!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!BANE!!!!!!!!!!! BR, Silver AV switch, Black covertec wheel (which is really cool, because now I can swap the Covertec wheels if I ever want a Black wheel on my Revan instead of silver) So 2nd Place of my own private wish list, with my 4th place prize, not too shabby lol. From memory, a forum member did a review on an Emerald Flamberge last year and went thru all these details . . . . He got flickering working on his side blades by dropping the brightness on channel 4 (dedicated to the side LED's) on the pulse settings to give the impression of a flicker to a different colour but it was really just a lower brightness on the side LED's . . . This is the same as how you can get a flicker on the switch LED with the switch dedicated to CH.4 . . . I think when I looked at Lev's video the side blades pulse / flickered / FoC to almost "off" while the main blades FoC was white (I think) . . . it would be great if they've got extra channel's to work with, but I think this is how Lev's Flamberge will be set up . . . :) EDIT . . . the other thing to remember is a 2.Ch Emerald cross guard saber where at least 2 colours are available to the main blade HAS to have at least a third channel for the side LED's (power / brightness) . . . So my guess would be that all the Emerald cross guard sabers would be available in 4.Ch only, technically . . . . . I'm curious because you aren't familiar with Emerald and didn't comment specifically on that which makes me wonder if . . . Figured i'd clear this up now that i have a better understanding of the emerald driver and flamberge setup :p Unfortunately no i can't change the side blade colour ;( hopefully they'll add that feature someday! The flicker/pulse on the side blades i can change with ch4, just switching between 50% and 100% setting. Finally got my head around that! The FOC does seem to cause my side blades to flash too, although i'm wondering if this is due to the main blade reflecting on it and perhaps a combination of the settings going through the board. On lockup for example, the side blades appear to flicker quicker in time with the sound. So... me just being a newbie with emerald really i think! :D hopefully the crossguard sabers get updated features eventually though! ;D On another note, i whipped out my soldering iron and had a go at making the blade look unstable, this was the result! Flew off on Friday and was busy on Thursday trying to get on top of work and packing before going to the airport.
Here's my quick report and photos while I'm waiting for friends to wake up :) I ordered a Dark Liberator v3 with fire orange 36" blade and sound. My 3rd prize raffle prize was (i think) a Dark Sentinel LE v4 with a red 32" blade without sound. Both are great. Thanks again to Ultra Sabers for the raffle prize. I really like the Dark Sentinel hilt. In my opinion it looks even better in reality than it does in the photo on the website. A good length to wield with one or two hands, and with a clean simple design to hold comfortably, yet enough elements of design to be interesting. It's interesting too how much lighter the Dark Sentinel is compared to the Dark Liberator and the Prophecy v3 that I bought previously. I presume this is due to the sound board included on the latter 2 rather than because the Dark Sentinel itself is much lighter than the other two. I took a few photos of the Dark Liberator and Dark Sentinel, but don't know how to present them here. Is it possible to upload the pictures to this forum? Or do I have to upload them elsewhere and then link the images? BTW, a friend recently took all 3 sabers to a pop culture convention in Australia last weekend. The reason I ask is cause my friend who may be getting one for the next raffle has been looking at the emerald option and isn't very impressed cause it takes more work to change the color than to leave it the same. So being able to just stick it in the wall to charge is awesome to him cause he wants a Star Wars universe so win-win there. He got flickering working on his side blades by dropping the brightness on channel 4 (dedicated to the side LED's) on the pulse settings to give the impression of a flicker to a different colour but it was really just a lower brightness on the side LED's . . . This is the same as how you can get a flicker on the switch LED with the switch dedicated to CH.4 . . . I think when I looked at Lev's video the side blades pulse / flickered / FoC to almost "off" while the main blades FoC was white (I think) . . . it would be great if they've got extra channel's to work with, but I think this is how Lev's Flamberge will be set up . . . :) EDIT . . . the other thing to remember is a 2.Ch Emerald cross guard saber where at least 2 colours are available to the main blade HAS to have at least a third channel for the side LED's (power / brightness) . . . So my guess would be that all the Emerald cross guard sabers would be available in 4.Ch only, technically . . . . . BUT, maybe we ARE seeing some new Emerald functionality . . . would be very cool . . . 8) Let me throw some clarity on this. Think about a regular 4 channel saber, without the crossguard. You set up your colors for your pulse/flicker with the four sliders, in whatever mix of RGBW/RGBA you like, so if you want a flicker between full brightness and 80% brightness on one single color, you just set the sliders for the two settings at 100%/80%, right? If you wanted a color that's a mix of two or more of the channels, you set them to full (whatever numerical value that is, for you), and a reduced setting (say, 80% of whatever your full setting is for each channel). Same when you set the flash on clash, you use the sliders to set whatever you want your flash color to be. Now, imagine taking the LED that's on channel 4 and separating it from the others, and shifting it down to the crossguard area. You'd set a BR flicker for R100/80, and channel 4 also to 100/80. That will make all three blades on a Flamberge or Renegade flicker in sync. Or you could set them to flicker opposite each other (main set to 100/80, side channel set to 80/100) if you really wanted. You couldn't set the side blades to flash to another color than what their basic LED is, BUT you could make them dim or brighten with the FoC, by using the slider for channel 4. Make sense?
