Title: Wall thickness of the various blade types Post by: Ander on October 18, 2011, 01:43:39 PM Hi, can somebody give me a precise measurement of the wall thickness of the four blade types? Or at the very least of the UltraEdge Midgrade and UltraEdge Heavygrade?
I have already read http://www.saberforum.com/index.php?topic=666.0 (http://www.saberforum.com/index.php?topic=666.0) but there are no actual values, and I need them because my saber school apparently has a precise requirement. I have searched the forums far and wide for that answer, but I failed... The only answer I found said 1 and 3 mm, but it's probably not correct because the shop says that the heavy is 2 x mid, so it doesn't match. The photo in the thread above is nice, but doesn't really offer a precise answer, also because the UE mid looks thicker than the normal mid. Does anybody have the solution to this mistery? It would be very helpful. Cheers Andrea, from Italy PS Feel free to go SI or imperial, I can convert ;) Title: Re: Wall thickness of the various blade types Post by: Master Nero Attoru on October 18, 2011, 01:59:48 PM I will have to check when I get home, but my best guess right now would be 1/32" for the midgrade and 1/16" for the heavy grade. This is based off the assumption that Ultrasabers uses imperial and not metric (I know the retention screws are imperial). I will try to measure my blades after work for you.

If you can measure them, I'll thank you in advance.

The Ultraedge should be the same as the midgrade, while the Ultraedge Heavy Grade should be the same as the regular heavy grade. I'll measure them all (I have all 4 types) and let you know. If you can measure them, I'll thank you in advance. This is all correct. It's 1/16" for thin and 1/8" for thick. In addition, white polycarbonate is thicker by like .0001" due to the addition of the pigmentation. This is nothing to worry about or that you would notice in normal use. That's a problem, because my school insists on uniform 2 mm thick blades, which is 20% more than 1/16. I might have to get the blade replaced. |
