Title: Catalyst video review (better late than never)
Post by: Prowl 1701 on February 16, 2017, 11:18:23 PM
My video review of the US Catalyst.  (I know, I know, it's late.)

Thanks for the review, Prowl! Well done! Your honest, straight forward approach in your reviews is always what I look forward to. The Catalyst (and Dark Catalyst) are both sabers I've been eyeing myself. I've switched to using 32 inch blades myself now, mostly heavy grade and I do like them much better.  Your comparison with the Prophecy is very helpful. I have both the Dark and regular Prophecy myself, so it helps to know that if I really like the Prophecy that I will mostly like the Catalyst, too, for the details Ultra Sabers puts into it. I like what you suggested about a Dark Catalyst being completely dark. I'd do a red illuminated black AV switch combined with a silver bezel and that'd be the only silver accent I'd need.   ;)

Point incoming to you, buddy.  ;D

"Swing those things for about 3 seconds I need to sleep for about 7 hours" . . . EASILY my favourite part of the review, lol! ;D

The Catalyst may be a simpler design but it sure is attractive.  I have the MHS version of the choke and found I didn't like it much which is partly why this hilt has stayed off my wish list.  I imagine it makes for a perfect grip for most people.

Love the idea of an Ultra Dark Catalyst - that should totally be it's name.

Points to you Prowl 8)

Another helpful detailed review from Prowl.  I really appreciate your comparing the Catalyst to other sabers that have a similar length and size.  This room is so much better for videos than your old cramped bedroom with that ceiling fan... but perhaps less entertaining.  Will or will Prowl not hit it with the saber blade ?!  lol  ;D

Cudos to your ole faithful camera man.  ;)

well deserved point  :)

I'd be all over an all black Catalyst, would make a great Sith hilt.  And yeah the Scorpion and Flamberge are massive heavy hilts, not suited to my smaller size.

@ Dauntless, The old room used for videos was actually my camera man's place. It was just easier to go there than have him drive out all the time back then. It is nice not having deadly ceiling fans to contend with now, lol.

Great job on that review.  Really covered things well.  It does look very sleek and comfortable.

Thanks guys, I'm glad people find them helpful and informative.

Thinking about branching out and reviewing some other stuff like Transformers.

Do it! Just stick it in the off topic forum. Do you have Optimus Prime? I had that toy as a kid, I miss it.

Excellent!

It's really good to see another review done by Prowl. ;D

I have a Dark Catalyst, and love it.  A total dream to spin.  In fact, that choke point really helped me get the proper techniques down.

Great review my man.  :)

+1

P.S. You should update your sig now. ;)

An Ultra Dark Catalyst would sell me on owning a Catalyst. Good review, always enjoy a Prowl 1701 review. Point.
