So here is the video as promised. So I was struck by a couple questions and had to get answers. Can you dual wield crossguard lightsabers? Yes! Are they heavy AF? Yes! Do you end up hitting yourself with the quillions? Not if you hold them right. This is a collection of clips from a 15 minute practice session. Hope you enjoy. The sabers in the video are both Flamberges (A V1 and a V2). The V1 has been modified with a shorter hilt section and a slightly extended center emitter. The V2 is rocking some home made day blades.

What in the....?! How the....?!  :o  :o  :o You're incredible, Cephalus! I'm astonished at what I just watched! The bar has just been set quite a bit higher. Way to work some lightsaber spinning vudu. Quite a lot of fluidity there, too. Amazing work. I echo SFD when I say keep'em coming!  (although, get some rest first, you must be exhausted after that.)  :)

I am constantly surprised by how easy you make everything look. But I know from experience that it is not all that easy (especially the reverse Obi-Ani).

Good stuff.  I think the thing that surprised me the most watching this is your hand placement.  Seems lower than usual.

Good spot. I actually had to weight the V2 pommel to do this. That is part of how I am keeping those quillions away from me and from each other when the blades get close. And how I tightened up the arch on the flip. Yes, I added more weight to a Flamberge.

I enjoyed watching this feat of crossguard saber wielding DC!

On the agenda for tomorrow: try to figure out how to wield this.

Very, very, carefully.

Really though, I doubt it'll be that hard.  Mine aren't both MHS compatible so I haven't tried it.

Nice moves! Never thought id actually appreciate a Crossguard!

And then there is this. Flamberge staff with a Yari extension. I had hoped this would work like a Dragonstaff. It does not. It is fun in it's own right but heavy and the weight is still focused in the center rather than the ends. You can get some interesting roll rotations out of it though. All in all, a bit easier to work with than a regular crossguard staff with longer blades.

I have been practicing with my new flamberge se and it is heavy AF. I am just now getting the single crossguard spinning down and now i see you doing the dual crossguard thing....makes me want to push myself further.

No problem. The best advice I can give for learning a crossguard is pick it up straight on. By which I mean your arm is perpendicular to the quillions when you are holding it straight out. Your inclination will probably be to pick it up with one quillion pointing in front and the other pointing towards you. If you hold it the other way, you won't hit your wrist. One of these days, I will do a video on that.

Point for sheer craziness. I might also say those day blades worked pretty well in that first vid. Have you made more?

I have just made the one set, but now I also have other day options for my second saber.

Oh, now those light up in an interesting way. I like. Would go well with the sound font I got recently for my new (other guys) saber.

Thats some impressive coordination. How did you keep the crossguards from catching on eachother/yourself? Man thats cool. Did you rehearse this a lot?

Nope. That was freestyle. It was also the first time I had tried to spin those dual wield. They are more straightforward than you would think. The trick is to use shorter blades and to grip them right. If you grip a crossguard with the spikes pointing to either side, you actually have to work to hit yourself in the wrist with it. From there it is a matter of giving the spins a wider berth to keep from hitting your body.

Now that is incredibly awesome! It looks very close to the real thing. Very cool mod of that hilt too. Thanks for the advice on how to hold the Flamberge. I had figured it out pretty quick after realizing I couldn't spin the blade properly until I held it properly to prevent "wrist collision". Man Cephalus, I cant get over how cool the blades of that crossguard are. Are they painted that way? How did you make them look like that?
