We've heard a lot of the criticism that "Rey had never held a saber before" but she'd been using a staff to KEEP HERSELF ALIVE for YEARS! That tends to breed both techique and familiarity. The fact that she was using the "poke" moves (classic staff attack) and the reverse grip common to staff work both speak to her training with the staff for years.
I'd love to hear an analysis of the Kylo/Rey fight from The Last Jedi... :-) |
