I confirmed to Amanda that I will for sure be at the Comicpalooza meet up.

I have seen that this is already a group in Houston called Star Wars Enthusiasts of Houston. They have meet ups and do events for charity etc.. So might be harder to find Houston folks for the Jedi Council.

Contact bigBear, I'm sure he will figure out a way.  He likes nothing more than adding members to the council, well maybe his Raven saber.

I'm already a member of this awesome group but I'm in Dallas. Good to see more people joining

I joined up on the FB page.  Not sure what all they do.  Mostly I'm looking for people to wave my saber at :)

And to the Houston peeps, I'm in the Spring area, whereabouts are the rest of ya?

I'm in Kingwood, but I go to the Woodlands a lot to visit my parents.

I attended a class at Space City Sabers, down in Spring Branch on Saturday.

Good group.  Laid back but serious.  I've enough martial arts background to tell the instructor knows his stuff.

$10 class.  Meets every other week on Saturday nights (6pm-8)

It was worth the drive.  The wife enjoyed it.

The instructor had 3 newbs (us and somebody else).  Worked us through the 8 two-handed cuts and then some variations that formed a loop, all while step and slicing across the room.  Even with an easy pace, it was a workout.

The advanced students moved from that as a warm up to some fancy reach-around strikes and such that used some of the same strikes but also formed a  spin/twirl  based on real strikes that looked good.

I can't make it to every class each month, but we'll be back.

Ok so you can just show up and pay in person for the class you attend?

Yep.  In the last 20 minutes, they turn out the lights and people can duel or what have.  You can turn on your blade during the practice bit, but it's lit and why waste battery for drills.

Just found you guys. Houston raised, but living in Austin now. Looking into joining up with the local TSL meetup over here as well.
