That blue blade in your first video looks sick on video. Nice!

Meesa like dis! 🙂
Until now I could't tell what was that very essential in these videos kept me hooked but - and it may sound weird - I feel a solid dose of that "love of life"-factor I'm always so happy to see!
Surely a thing for me to look forward to Fridays!

I assume the application of these vids are the same, since I’ve used the footwork vid from Luke vs Vader that you put out and have had relative success in my group. But my group uses purely heavy grade blades (or ultra edge heavy) so while I’ve tried to one hand like your vids, I can’t pull off the same strategies that most of your sabers use. Any tips for heavy grade users? Currently using initiate v4 with a 32”, but I’ve also practiced a bit more with roughly a 29”. I want to get good enough to dual wield, but obviously with longer blades in heavy grade I need to two hand to have the same power and control.

Besides getting stronger? You can use your shoulder more to power your attacks. This would fall into the "sweep" category of attacks, which is a video we haven't released yet (we have a tournament to prepare for so the series needs to be on hold for a couple weeks).

Hope that helps. Are you just talking about attacks or other things too?

Was wondering what happened to the every Friday part.

IMO, the weight of the blade (and of the saber) has a great impact on your fighting style.

Let's consider real world fighting style: if you have a light weapon (like a rapier) or a heavy one (like a staff, a spear or a medieval sword), you will definitively have a different style.

A light weapon can be easily put into move by only use the wrist. A duelist can strike very quickly from a stand by position.

On the following vid, we can see that duelist use their whole body but the blade is directed by the wist ...

A heavy weapon is more difficult to put into move and need the whole body of the duelist ... Here, a duelist must use is whole body to strike or must give speed to his/her weapon and try to keep as much inertia as possible ...

So, i agree with Cang ... you have to be stronger or use your whole body and have a different style ;)

Thanks for the tips, I’ll definitely give the whole body and working out to get stronger a go! I do want to have more of a medieval Longsword style so that’ll work out for me hopefully. Thanks a bunch!

You are welcome :)

But once again, just my opinion ... maybe others will have advice too

By no means comprehensive! There's still A LOT to talk about on best practices for your deflectors. But this is a start.

This is the key to your defense. The most important bladework you can learn to do, even more important than shields.

Interesting vid Cang Snow (like every Friday i would say).

When i defend myself in a duel, i try to keep my blade (and my arms) as close to my body as possible. The goal is to defend a little zone to save energy and to be quicker to counterattack (a little zone like the blue one on the Left fig and not the blue one of the Right fig).

I searched for a free picture on the web to illustrate ...

This is the last video in this series, on feints and chain attacks. From here I'll be producing videos at a slower pace but with better production. You can support us at Patreon (http://www.patreon.com/LightspeedSaber). Thank you!
