Title: Marks of contact
Post by: Jammo on November 10, 2011, 07:04:10 PM
I've always considered Sun Djem the best way to end a fight, but what do prefer?

Wonderful Topic Master Jammo ;)!!!

I Love The Study of "The Marks of Contact"...

I Especially Find The Jedi's Critique of The "Marks of Contact"... ;)

Here's What I Have Personally Come To Believe About Them:

I Would Rater Have A Cho Mai... Than A Sun Djem... (Hands Can Be Replaced With A Prosthetic Replacement) (Though, I Am Not Trying To Tempt The Fates Here  :-\... We Are Talking Star Wars Here ;)!!!)

Jedi Try To Avoid Sai Cha, and Sai Tok Whenever Possible... Yeah... Uh Huh...  That's Why Obi Wan Sai Tok'ed Darth Maul... and Why Mace Windu Sai Cha'ed Poor Jango Fett...  (Never Bring A Blaster To A Saber Fight ;)!!! lmao)

I Would Think Mou Kei Would Be A Useful and Amusing Torture Tactic, While Interrogating Your Fallen Opponent... (or Just Watching Him Squirm ;)) Before You End Their Pain Permanently ;)... (Very Sith)

I Don't Understand What Purpose Shiim Has, Short of Pure Torture...

Shiim?  Shiim is just for fun.  Also, I think I saw a Shiim when Anakin killed the Separatist leaders.  A slash across the torso without actually severing it could be construed as a shiim.  Mostly because that's what it's closest to out of these points of contact.

I'm more of a Shiak guy myself.  I like how you get to pause and look awesome/sneer at your victim.  Also, that's how Maul kills Qui-Gon.

I hit a Mou Kei on my brother about a year ago with a spin attack with my Yari and almost knocked him down completely. He took a knee and put a hand on the ground. I pulled the shot, too.

Okay, So Shiim Is Any Slash That Doesn't Pierce Through, You Learn Something Everyday ;)!!! Thank You My Dark Brother Terion  8)

The Shiak Just Seem's Like Such A Nasty Way To Kill Your Opponent... Makes Them "Feel It" If You Follow Me...

If I Had To Pick A Favorite Mark of Contact As A Preferable Method of Making A Kill... I Think I'd Have To Say That I Choose Sai Cha ;)!!!  The Victim Would Only Last A Few Moments After The Blow Was Dealt... (If Even That Few Moments...) I See It As A Very Merciful Kill... and I Am A Grey Sith After All ;)!!!

@ To Master Jammo:

Well... I'm Glad That You Weren't Using Real Sabers... or Short of The Other Arm and The Fire, You Would Have Just Darth Vader'ed Your Brother  :-\... (I'll Start Calling You Ulic-Qel Droma ;) lol)

Easy with that Master talk. I might guide a young one here and there, but my chops are those of a Corporal of Marines. Hey, its our birthday today, by the way. We are 236 years old today. Happy Birthday to any Marines that frequent the joint...

Hey If You Are of A Certain Age and Experience and A Jedi, I Shall Address You As A Master, Same For Sith... that I Shall Address As Lord...

Just A Respect Factor For Me ;)!!! (My Father Was Born In 1945... This Is The Sir and Mam Translated To Star Wars Lingo ;) lol...)

You can have your fancy sabers. I prefer a quick blaster shot to the face. 8)

The Jarhead in me appreciates that sentiment.

Is that a grenade launcher I see attached?  I got to play with an m-16, 9mil and shotgun.

Being a Makashi guy I like some precise disabling shots... also there's the fact that I'm afraid to hurt my friends when I'm sparring with them.  These things make me end up using a lot of Cho Mai and Mou Kei.

It all depends on who I'm dueling.... If I'm dueling a Sith, anything goes  ;)

'Tis the M203 Grenade Launcher, yes. I also got to play with heavy machine guns and SHOULDER FIRED MISSILES, but back to the subject at hand... 99% of my hits are Sun Djem, Cho Mai, Cho Mok, or Shiim. I'm particularly notorious as a knuckle duster and strangely enough, for hitting a saber on the battery side rather than the blade side, a hit which in universe would hack off the power cell. I love that shot, particularly when I nail it in a manner that causes no injury to my opponent. The intact disarm is the closest thing to perfection I can think of in a fight.

Ooorah to all my Devil Dog brothers a slightly late Happy 236th. Happy Veterans day to everyone, and as far as my favorite marks of contact. Despite my slight reputation as a rough and tumble type. My favorite marks of contact are Sun Djem, Cho Mai, Cho Mak, and Mou Kei. I often use Shiim as well, it's good for that quick disable, and it works really well with the 3/4'' blades.

A little bit of motivation for the day.

240 Bravo, the only difference is a hydraulic self cleaning buffer system, and only one setting for the gas plug. Other than that it's pretty much the same gun. Anyways, my favorite machine gun. Perfect for turret use, and still light enough you can run with her on the ground too.

and I agree happiness is a belt fed weapon!

I Should Probably Show A Tad More Restraint While Dueling My Friends...

Seriously... I Nearly Broke The Ribs of One of My Old Friends... In The Saber Group I Used To Run Several Years... Woops  :-\...  (Wasn't Angry With Him or Anything... I Just Tend To Be Really Aggressive While Dueling...)

I Love How Your Jedi Sense of Morality Flies Right Out The Window... When You Are Dueling A "Evil Sith"... Does The Sith Not Deserve A Chance At Redemption In Your Eyes?!?  Why Do You Not Show Some Restraint, So As To Try and Redeem Him/or Her Later...

You Have Already Begun To Walk The Dark Path... Jedi... ;)...

(Sorry... This Is All In Good Fun ;)!!!  I Enjoy Giving The Jedi A Hard Time... In Regards To Moral Ambiguity ;)... and I Enjoy Showing The Jedi How They're Code's and Philosophies Are Nothing But Utter Fallacy's...)

If I'm about to kill them, I think they're a little late for the redemption thing  ;) The nickname the local 'council' gave me was not 'Redeemer of Baddies,' it was 'Sword of the Jedi.'  Pardon me for assuming that the sword is not dull ;)

Dark Side points for trying  ;) Back on the subject of killing Sithies.... What else can be done with them? You can't just tie them up (they'd get you in the process or escape easily afterwards).

Isn't there always something that can be done? Heck, there has to be some kind of neural restraint in the Star Wars universe that can be used to transport dangerous cargo like Force users, right? I always like to do as little damage as I can, both as the Jedi thing to do and the fact that it displays more skill as a duelist to take only what you need and come away unharmed.

Ysalamiri + shock cuffs.  That'll keep the Sithies tied down.

And yeah, they did come up with a neural shock cuff that delivered a zap whenever the Force-user reaches out with the Force, disrupting their connection to the Force for a brief moment and leaving them unconscious.

Like that would have worked against Sidious.... Or Caedus.... Or Maul.... But I guess it could work if you could stun them first; use Vergere's method of making oneself's force presence invisible and then use a stun blaster.

Shiim is considered an intentionally placed wound, as I understand it. Tyrannus takes Kenobi out of commission with Shiim wounds to the leg in AOTC (much as it pains me to site from prequels...though the Clone Wars series is electric). So it seems Shiim is designed to get your opponent's attention at best (the slightest grazing mark) and to cripple at worst (as above, without severing anything).

Not sure killing marks can be considered Shiim (as on Mustafar); not if keeping the opponent alive is the intent behind such a mark.

...there may be some "grey area" here.

Wonderful Topic Master Jammo ;)!!!
