Title: The "Official" Saberforum.com Pro Wrestling Thread. Post by: ThreadJack on January 19, 2011, 10:06:55 PM I don't know if it's ok to call this an official thread, so I'll gladly change the title if not. The main focus here will be WWE and TNA since there the most accessible promotions, but if you have something about another promotion feel free to speak up.
So let the discussion begin! I'll admit I've been pretty bad the last couple of months and haven't watched much wrestling, other than the odd episode of RAW or Smackdown, so I'm kinda out of the loop a bit( I'll try and do better I promise). So let's just start with a General question: Any other wrestling fans on here? Title: Re: The "Official" Saberforum.com Pro Wrestling Thread. I like Sting as well but he needs out of TNA ASAP. And Ultra, HELL YES!!! Title: Re: The "Official" Saberforum.com Pro Wrestling Thread. Title: Re: The "Official" Saberforum.com Pro Wrestling Thread. Post by: SILVERBACK on January 27, 2011, 02:47:21 AM i remember when i was about 8 years old (now 35) my dad took my two brothers and i to watch wrestling. as we were standing in line nicholai volkoff walked right past me. at the time he was one of my favorite wrestlers and he was a matter of three feet in front of me. i stood there in awe, i couldnt even ask him for his autograph because i was in such shock. later on george '' the animal'' steel wrestled , and if any of you guys remember he used to tear open the turnbuckle and throw all of the stuffing outside of the ring. when all of the matches were over my dad took me down next to the ring and i reached in between the steel barriers and grabbed a handful of the stuffing and put it in my coat pocket. i think i still have the stuffing up in my parents attic. as we were leaving ''leaping lenny '' poffo( i think thats how you spell his last name) was in the entrance way signing autographs. even though he usually lost every match i still stood in line to get his autograph on a w.w.f. magazine. my God that was a long time ago.

ULTIMATE WARRIOR RULES!! (http://www.bustedcoverage.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/06/the-ultimate-warrior.jpg) Title: Re: The "Official" Saberforum.com Pro Wrestling Thread. Post by: JdiKnhtJMH on January 27, 2011, 03:08:20 AM I remember watching this stuff as a kid. Its sad what happened to some of those guys, Ultimate Warrior lost the mullet thing and the handlebar streamers and is now some conservative talk show host nut job. Lex Luger is a paraplegic or something last I heard.
Moth Man's in an asylum in Maine. Dollar Bill got his cape stuck in a revolving door where he got gunned down. The first Nite Owl runs an auto repair shop. The first Silk Spectre... woops, lacked into Rorshach mode there. Title: Re: The "Official" Saberforum.com Pro Wrestling Thread. Post by: Ultra on January 27, 2011, 03:15:37 AM In an entertainment field that demands this kind of top level physical conditioning, it's almost inevitable that it will cause harm. However, I wonder how the rest of the acting world fares in that regard. All I can do is be grateful for the memories that those men and women sacrificed their lives to give me. I'm sure the money they were making had something do with their motivations, too, but I'll always think they did it for me! ;D
And what do you mean Warrior became a nut job? LOL, look at the dude, he's always had a few crystals missing from his saber. Title: Re: The "Official" Saberforum.com Pro Wrestling Thread. Post by: ThreadJack on January 27, 2011, 04:08:12 AM I was wondering that as well Ultra. About the actors I mean. It takes TONS of work to get to the level of a Tom Cruise(horrible actor by the way) or an Angelina Jolie. I heard somewhere that something like 1% of actors are actually working at any given time. That's not very good odds.
Anyway, I'm pretty psyched for the Royal Rumble on Sunday! Title: Re: The "Official" Saberforum.com Pro Wrestling Thread. Post by: JdiKnhtJMH on January 28, 2011, 02:06:23 AM Ultra - I hear that, and (aside from Yokozuna lol) the wrestlers of the 90s werent only great entertainers and sometimes sort of role models, they were advocates for kids exercising and staying fit (sure it was so that we could go on to hit people with chairs more effectively, but still!) most of the excersise I willingly did as a kid was because Lex Luger said to in WWF magazine.
As for the Warrior going crazy, you've got a point, but he never threatened to sue the internet http://www.somethingawful.com/d/legal-threats/legal-threat-ultimate.php (http://www.somethingawful.com/d/legal-threats/legal-threat-ultimate.php) while he was wrestling lol. Title: Re: The "Official" Saberforum.com Pro Wrestling Thread. Post by: ThreadJack on January 28, 2011, 02:28:55 AM The wrestlers now kinda try to get kids to exercise. WWE still has "The Body Shop" I think it's called, which is a section where Superstars share parts of there workouts as well as diet techniques, and even some hygiene tips.
I would love to see someone TRY to sue the internet. Though I don't really think you can... |
