Title: Customization ideas for Initiate v3 LE
Post by: Witchpig on February 08, 2018, 10:02:53 PM
Hello, I was wondering if anyone has any good customization ideas for the initiate v3 LE, or pics of customs they have already done to it.
I want to add some sort of black grip, whether it's electrical tape, or something else, I would like to know your thoughts.
 :)

Hi WP - ck out Drachir's thread in the Customization section of the forum.  He has done some very creative takes on saber accessories w weathering and linen wraps ...etc.

That's not a bad idea but it might look better and have a better grip if you use the black rubber grip for tennis rackets and use a black o-rings in the  grooves to hold it on. This way if you ever want to change it simply take it off and it is back to normal and No sticky stuff left behind from the tape.
I like mods that I can undo easily if I change my mind.
It is all personal preference of coarse so there will be many different opinions.

What color is the blade if you don't mind me asking?

Oh, btw you should look up Seddist Skyfaller on the forums and see some of the cool accessories that he has for sabers.

Greetings WP,

These are my Dark Initiate V3's, but you get the picture. The  weathered Sentinel V4 is a good tape example.

The red one is multiple coat red and textured clear coat. Grip is fairly better
The purple is paint weathering, texture coated, leathered choke points, and grey o-rings. Grip is good
The green is also paint weathered, clear coats, with green grip tape. Grip is excellent

I'm actually getting the same saber as my first and planning to wrap and weather mine. I'm going to use gray tennis overgrip tape by Gamma. As for the weathering, I'll just take sand paper and rub the black anodization off, if you're getting a black initiate I'd suggest to look into it. Lastly I'm gonna try to build a PVC shroud based off the tutorial by srams here on the forum. If you want I'll let you know how it goes. Good luck finding inspiration!

Okay, so here it is. All I wanted was to create some contrast and grip while keeping the simplicity of the Initiate V3 design. I used black electrical tape. (https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180211/4541c2aa966509e9e6af5be1d9dab1c9.jpg)

Exactly what I was going for. I didn't want it to be unrecognizable as the Ini v3, just wanted to personalize it a bit.
