Title: Introducing the saber of Darth Luchadorado
Post by: imgumby001dammit on September 19, 2018, 01:52:08 AM
Introducing Darth Luchadorado’s saber! Not coincidentally, this is my first attempt at a more detailed wrap. This can’t be understated, before this I had never attempted anything like this. It’s not perfect, but I’m feeling pretty good about it!! Tell me what you think...

Great work there, Gumby.  Now, I have to look at wrapping some of my grips which I've been meaning to do, just is just the boost I need!  Appreciation point.

I was thinking of painting these sabers( the v2’s), but after seeing D7’s engraving work, I don’t know if paint will cut it!!

How about engraving and then paint?

I can totally appreciate that feel of a "first-timer" with the wrap…I just recently did my own first leather wrap and can tell you that ya dun good!! POINTAGE

Thanks mrg! It was hard, but fun. I don’t know Infinit, the engraving scares me. I’m not exactly even really good a drawing. If I can get my hands on a decent tool there should be a considerable amount of time spent practicing on a steel plate of something.

I like it! You can't go wrong with black and light to medium brown. Did you epoxy it or stitch/tie the back side?

You don't have to do the finer detailed engraving like I sometimes do and most persons won't be successful on a tube.  I have to be somewhat good at something lol.  ;)

Anything you add to a saber custom can only give it more character and dimension.  Really there are no mistakes and the saber and it's back story take on another element.  Just take that first step and go for it.  :D

Nice job of the leather wrap.  point  8)

Here's an example of destroying a saber lol... and it was such fun to do.  ;D

Seriously Dauntless, all B.S. aside, I’m so inspired by that saber. The first time I saw it I carried my phone around for days showing my family and annoying them about how I wanted to do something like that and how it was the baddest saber I’d ever seen!!

Thanks... You can do this as well.  It took me about a year before I could even think about or imagine drilling into and purposefully marking up a saber.  Could not have done it at first without Drahcir's frequent guidance and encouragement.  So hopefully it will rub off on you and others.  There are so many customizers on the Forum now... which is a blast and very satisfying for me to view other's creativity and saber offerings.  Nothing like making a saber uniquely your own.  :D

This looks pretty good. I like my sabers clean, so I have yet to customize any of them. It will probably happen sometime though. But yeah, the wrap looks pretty good for sure.

Gumby, that's a hell of a nice job for your 1st time. Point for leaping into the leather.
D7 that destroyed saber is pretty much the direction I want to take my consular. Thanks for the inspiration.

Thanks Roan and Bone!! I’m planning on doing a lot more intricate wraps in the future, so the positive feedback is much appreciated!! The main reason I have purchased so many sabers is so I can risk destroying one in the quest for glory. Hopefully, I’ll get up the gumption to disassemble one of the stunts and start drilling and dremmeling on it. I really want a BH led to put into my battle damaged unit.

Thanks fellas! I actually just bought an industrial quantity of epoxy. I’ve got a few more basic projects in mind before I do something fancy!!
