Title: Custom US saber Post by: Baldon on February 15, 2019, 02:12:31 AM I want to try making a custom saber using an empty hilt using a cree xml rgbw led and obsidian v3/v4 sound board. I cant seem to find an led driver. I also want to try using 18650 batteries (2 of them if possible. Can anyone help me identify the items I would need?
Thanks Title: Re: Custom US saber Post by: Rapine on February 15, 2019, 12:53:36 PM If you are indeed looking to use 2x18650, that would be 7.4v, so a buckpuck would work very nicely.
link (https://ultrasabers.com/product/1000ma-wired-buckpuck/) For 3.7v (one 18650), you'd need to go the resistor route. 3.7v wouldn't power an Obsidian V3/V4 board though... Only a certain number of hilts will accommodate two 18650s (that's a lot of real estate). Looking forward to it though. :) Title: Re: Custom US saber Post by: Baldon on February 15, 2019, 06:27:19 AM Any idea what led driver I would need for the cree xml rgbw led?

Research. Title: Re: Custom US saber Post by: Baldon on February 15, 2019, 12:53:00 PM Can you change colors easily with the buckpuck?
Title: Re: Custom US saber Post by: Rapine on February 15, 2019, 08:13:00 PM Nope.
A buckpuck will only regulate current flow, not select channels. You'd need a colour changing board (like Emerald or Diamond) for that. An Obsidian board is just sound. |
