Title: Memory lane....my very first lightsaber Post by: Jedi_Phoenix on June 19, 2020, 01:23:37 AM Salutations, friends and neighbors....
I had to share this bad boy with you guys...probably the prototype OG model of the current Ultrasabers (and similar companies). This is one of the earlier Hasbro kind, I got it in the mid 1990s. The blade extends pretty long as you can see - I think it goes out to about 3 feet, longer than a lot of the toy sabers out there nowadays. However, it doesn't collapse all the way. Light and sound, of course, and it does have the proper sound effect when you strike something with it. The blade does have more than a few scuffs, and there is a crease in the upper part of the blade - let's just say I got a lot of mileage out of it, LOL. I have officially retired it; no more dueling with it, cause i don't want to damage it any further. But I still twirl it around every now and then, for old times sake. ;D (http://i.imgur.com/z2yzeuc.jpg) (http://i.imgur.com/bIijGGE.jpg) Title: Re: Memory lane....my very first lightsaber Post by: HesaHeart on June 19, 2020, 01:26:07 AM thank you for that lil piece of history +point
Title: Re: Memory lane....my very first lightsaber Post by: Jedi_Phoenix on June 19, 2020, 01:40:19 AM thank you for that lil piece of history +point Much obliged, kind sir... I remember having to decide between that one and Vader's - similar style with the red blade and the hilt was pretty authentic for a toy. But as much as I'm a Vader fan, I ended up going with Luke's cause the grip felt better. Still does, actually. Title: Re: Memory lane....my very first lightsaber Post by: For Tyeth on June 19, 2020, 03:24:00 AM Hi Jedi_Phoenix
While not my "first" saber, that was an original flashlight saber with a tube which I modded to turn the bulb green this picture shows my little collection of Hasbro's finest.... (https://ftsabersite.files.wordpress.com/2020/06/dscf4667.jpg) L-R: Luke ROTJ electronic L/S 2) Anakin Skinnyflex electronic L/S with spring loaded blade 3)Anakin Skinnyflex with electronics Red and Blue colour change blade 4) Qui-Gon basic flick saber 5) Obi-Wan Ep.1 with light and finally 6) Interactive Electronic Teaching saber with Yoda voice. I got one but then couldn't stop afterwards. All still work, either mechanically or electronically I just didn't have batteries on hand to put in for the picture (though the Ep.1 Obi is lit just very dim) I think you might recognise the one on the left of picture ;) I still use this ROTJ hilt because the blade is so light to practise spinning with believe it or not. point for sharing your saber. My kids had the spring loaded saber, but that was long ago; they weren't exactly careful with it, LOL. Hi again, yes it is downright dangerous in the wrong hands! Funnily enough yesterday I saw a GIF on another site of a kid doing an impromptu sword swallowing act with an extending saber. Anyhoo, luckily I never had any mishaps with mine though I was waiting for the end section to come loose and shoot off the end. Title: Re: Memory lane....my very first lightsaber Post by: Darth Tepes on June 19, 2020, 03:44:02 PM It was my first "official" saber as well. Over the years I had many of the Hasbro sabers my favorite being the Episode II Dooku saber. I am still chomping at the bit for US to make a curved hilt like Dooku.

Hi Darth Tepes, while they may not be US designs, I have a few curved sabers I have come up with that I think you might like. I hope you don't mind but I sent you a PM with a link to check them out if you're interested ok! p.s. the Dooku hilt is very nice. Title: Re: Memory lane....my very first lightsaber Post by: MVHI JEDI on September 27, 2020, 08:08:57 PM My very first lightsaber was a 1980's Kenner. Plastic with a solid fixed plastic green tube... had some kind of "whistle" built into the end, so when you swung it it made the whoosh whoosh noises. Had so much fun with that.

I came to Star Wars at age 16 when Episode I came out so my first saber was Kenner EP I Obi-Wan. My favorite though has always been Dooku's. I'm itching for US to make one like his.
