Title: Dark Prophecy LE (SRD Color) Review Post by: Volust on January 06, 2012, 08:33:23 PM As a first-time buyer of an Ultrasaber, I must say I am quite impressed with the overall buying experience! I will be doing a short review of the saber that I ordered (the Dark Prophecy LE in Sunrider's Destiny color with mid-grade Ultraedge blade) and give some overall comments relating to how it met or exceeded my expectations. I have much gratitude towards those that provide reviews of their sabers as it helped solidify my decision on what saber/color/etc. to purchase, so it is my hope that I can provide some brief additional information on my particular saber and experience.
Shipping Packaging First off, wow! The saber shipped without a scratch on it, and was tightly packed with bubble wrap and foam peanuts in a sturdy cardboard box that arrived in ~1 week from the time that I ordered it (on New Year's weekend, no doubt!) The Saber-Build Quality The hilt looks amazing in person! Picking up the hilt has that sort of quality where it feels very durable/high quality and does not feel cheap or have any loose parts at all. I was very happy that the hilt was smaller than I expected as I have smaller hands. The saber feels evenly balanced when holding the saber in my hand. The batteries are located inside the hilt and can be accessed via a screw off pommel. To retract the batteries, all I did was use the small tool that came with the saber to gently tug on the velcro snugly attaching the batteries inside the hilt. I was happy that the batteries do not move even when the hilt is shaken vigorously! (I apologize that these aren't the best quality of pictures, but all I have is an iPhone! 8)) (http://i.imgur.com/56YNn.jpg) (http://i.imgur.com/DETQo.jpg) (http://i.imgur.com/brUPH.jpg) The Color-Sunrider's Destiny After viewing many pictures of the Sunrider's Destiny color on the forums, I was very impressed with the color and am even more impressed in person. Pictures do not give a truly accurate representation of the color in my opinion; the color is a very green-tinted teal or "electric green" color that actually becomes slightly bluer (almost an icy blue at the very tip, I'm not sure if this is due to new batteries but it looks cool!) at the top with my ultraedge mid-grade blade. The color is a favorite of mine and I couldn't be happier with how it looks in person! In closing, I found that the shipping speed, packaging, and most importantly, the lightsaber, exceeded my expectations and I know that I will be buying another one soon. ;D The only thing that I feel is missing with this saber is the sound but I knew going into the purchase that this particular saber was not included with sound (and therefore, better for my wallet!). Is it possible to somehow install a soundboard into a smaller hilt such as this? Does Ultrasabers do that sort of work in already-built lightsabers? I hope this brief review helps those that may be potential buyers of the Dark Prophecy LE! I am certainly impressed with the level of craftmanship! See you all around on the forums. :) Title: Re: Dark Prophecy LE (SRD Color) Review Post by: Kham-Ryn Kurios on January 06, 2012, 08:43:58 PM Good review. You get a point.
It was very refreshing to see a Dark Prophecy review. ;D The color compliments the black accents very nicely. Title: Re: Dark Prophecy LE (SRD Color) Review Post by: SOTJ on January 06, 2012, 08:57:36 PM You get a point from me, too. I've been pondering getting one of these for a while now, and this review probably just closed the deal ;D
Title: Re: Dark Prophecy LE (SRD Color) Review Post by: Volust on January 06, 2012, 09:03:57 PM I'm glad this helped you (and thank you to both for the points/compliments)! The Dark Prophecy really is a sharp-looking hilt, and I agree that the SRD compliments the black accents nicely.

IDK if anyone saw but Check it out. The Dark Prophecy V3 is now available. It would be very tough but I've seen it done and am currently working on it myself. You won't be able to fit obsidian in there with a power source. And your Cram-Fu skillz must be quite high for this build. How much electronics experience do you have? Know how to solder? Title: Re: Dark Prophecy LE (SRD Color) Review Post by: Volust on January 07, 2012, 07:33:12 AM I actually have no experience with soldering or technical know-how when it comes to sabers :'( Wish I had the handy man skills of my dad-seems like he can put together anything mechanical or technical :P Let me know how your project goes and if you find success in fitting in a soundboard, that would be great to see.
Anyway, perhaps this is an opportunity for me to wishfully customize a saber that comes equipped with that Obsidian soundboard (eyeing that Dark Shock or Consular) and watch it sit in the check out basket for a few weeks or so until my birthday...was listening to some of the sounds on various videos and they sure do sound good. Title: Re: Dark Prophecy LE (SRD Color) Review Post by: Manroon on January 08, 2012, 12:41:01 AM Nice review! Like MAV, I too have worked (or rather had my Dad work lol) on putting an 'Econo' Soundboard (taken from an Obi-Wan Hasbro 2010 toy saber) into a Prophecy V2. It IS doable.... but I will warn you, if you can find someone with electronics know-how to do it for you, it takes some good cram-fu to fit it all in there. We got it to work in mine, but it seems every time we go to change the batteries we break a wire. lol We're planning to take ours down again and re-wire it for in hilt recharge to solve this problem at some point, but I'm sure there are simpler solutions. (We just figured if we had to do wiring work, we might as well go for gold with the recharge. lol)
Title: Re: Dark Prophecy LE (SRD Color) Review Post by: Darth Unobtanium on January 12, 2012, 02:27:50 AM SRD is just amazing. I think my next saber is going to have to be an SRD saber. If it looks that beautiful on your camera, it must look amazing in real life.
Title: Re: Dark Prophecy LE (SRD Color) Review Post by: Volust on January 12, 2012, 07:33:10 AM I am really pleased with it. I am tempted to try it out in a Consular hilt. As soon as I get a mid-grade blade I will take some comparison shots of it with the Ultraedge and see the differences, if any. Should be getting that mid-grade blade tomorrow early afternoon!
Title: Re: Dark Prophecy LE (SRD Color) Review Post by: Padawan Emile on January 17, 2013, 02:12:17 AM Mother of God. Amazing. This is just what I was looking for to customize my Dark Prophecy I'm getting. I've been looking for a better looking Darth Vader saber and this look would be awesome! Awesome job.
