Hey guys, it's been a long time coming but I've finally taken some pics of my Overlord staff to share with you.

First of all, I just want to say that the Overlord is probably my favorite saber, and although my collection has grown quite a bit recently, it still remains my old standby. It is a longer hilt, yes, but I'm quite tall and have larger hands so I find the size and balance quite nice. It wasn't long after I picked my first Overlord up that I grabbed my second, both fully loaded of course.

Now I tend to grab the middle section of my staff quite a bit, so I opted for a smoother, more uniform coupler from TCSS. Don't get me wrong, the US vented coupler is gorgeous and I assume it's quite loud, I just personally wanted a smoother look for my staff. I went with a black powder coat and use two O rings in order to line up the staff's AV switches.

Here it is in action, it only adds about 1.5 inches to the saber's length, while still letting out plenty of sound.

Now I also picked up a couple of Maul inspired Blade Holders from TCSS, which I occasionally use to give the staff a more "classic", movie-like appearance. I love how comfortable they are, and they fit the style of the staff perfectly. Let's hear it for MHS compatibility!

So without further delay, here is the fully assembled staff. The entire hilt measures exactly 26 inches from tip to tip, and I opt to use 32 inch heavy grade blades for duelling. The whole thing as it stands fully assembled is quite lengthy, and it is quite a bit taller than me when I stand it on it's end (I'm 6'5").

Anyway, there you have it; my own pinnacle of Sithy awesomenss. I can't recommend these sabers enough to anyone, they're absolutely fantastic in every way, and as much as I love the loudness and clarity that one obsidian soundboard creates, two of them joined together into a staff (or even dual-wielding!) makes for an entirely more intense experience altogether.

That is bitchin', Those different emitters make it look like Darth Maul's.

Also the first time I think we've had an Overlord Staff here on the forum. ;D

Actually, I have an Archon V2, I've just never thought of trying that!

@CZ3RO As you suggested that the coupler would look awesome on the Archon V2, I threw it on there to see for myself and you were absolutely right, it looks amazing!

I don't know if there are words to describe how awesome that staff looks. I love the modifications you made to it with emitters and connector. I have always considered myself a Jedi by nature but this staff seriously has me contemplating a dalliance with the dark side :P It looks so good. Maybe some blue blades and I could keep it a light side-ish saber lol...

That is a beautiful staff!  Great pics too, they make it look absolutely tantalizing.  The Maul emitters definitly add a different look as well, very cool.

I love the other emitters.... looks very clean-cut, but still menacing. You get a point.

I keep eye balling those emitters, Thank you soo much for posting this, I want a staff like that, though I never thought of that coupler. absolutely stunning saber !  Though I'm leaning with either a PO or SRD for the color. Point for you good Sir.

Thanks everyone for your kind comments. I'm happy that I'm able to share it with everyone so you can appreciate as much as I do. I'm surprised that Overlord staffs aren't more common, the hilt seems to lend itself to staff building almost as much as some of the other sabers that are actually sold as a staff.

It really is attractive when all put together, and its prettiness is only surpassed by how fun it is to wield! I'd love to see some similar ones but in different colors, maybe with different emitters too. I'm always looking for new and interesting ways to combine saber parts!

Part of it is funds.  You get an Overlord with sound around $350.  So a staff is going to run $700.  Sometimes hard to justify that with your significant other when you can get the Staffs in sound for around $500.  I am glad that you made this and posted it.  I would love to do this one day. 

I noticed that as well, when you posted this thread.  The hilts are simple, and fit together very nicely.

Yeah you're right, it is quite pricey. I was thinking more along the lines of stunt Overlord staffs though, you'd think there may be a couple of those around... That being said it really depends on where the person in question's priorities lie, i.e. sound versus stunt.

This was pretty much at the limit of my budget though, I would like to see what something like a Guardian staff would look like, although that would for sure be too expensive for myself. I got strategic with the purchasing of this staff though, I waited for sales and ordered then.

Nice. Probably about the coolest saber on here. :P Love the new look with the Maul styled emitters. I say keep it like that. This also makes me want to do a Bellicose staff in the future. I know its being talked about doing already though. Post a video of your sick saber in action. :D

My collection has grown a fair bit since I posted this (not to mention a brand new VA Guardian on its way to me right now) but my Overlords are still probably my favorite duelling hilts so far (my Consular is a close second, it's super comfortable). I can't recommend these sabers enough!

I can not express how appreciative I am that you posted these awesome pics! You've given me some really interesting ideas for the next two sabers I plan on getting (the Overlord and the Archon v2). I have a question though, I see that TCSS blade holders don't come with a hole already drilled in them for the blade retention screw and that you in fact have to order that seperately, so my question is what size Drill & Tap hole did you get put on those blade holders from TCSS? Does it even matter? I'm so afraid that if I get this done I'm going to get the wrong size.

Also I see that TCSS has several different variations of black, which one did you get?

Wet Black is what goes best with US

I believe I requested the drill and tap to be 8-32, and it fits the set screws that came with all of my Ultrasabers quite nicely.


I had my emitters and connector powder coated with flat black (or "Black Matte Tuscan"). I know many people prefer the look of the wet black, which essentially has a glossy finish, but to me the matte finish of the flat black is much closer to the black anodizing on the US hilts (which aren't really glossy at all). You can see in my pics how close the colors match.

That being said, if you wanted an exact color match US now has a black anodized vented coupler that sits flush with your hilts.

Well if I get that coupler I plan to use it as a crystal chamber on an Archon v2 just as you did not so much to couple two sabers together. That's why I'd likely get that over Ultra Sabers' new flush coupler. Thanks for the info though.
