any chance you could make a list of staff compatible hilts? for example combining a raven with a redemption and the piece you would need to combine them. I really like the idea of making a staff not a mirror image of itself.

There's no need to make a list. Any mhs compatible saber can use an mhs compatible coupler.  The non mhs couplers specify what sabers they can be used with.

You have the Bane listed as an MHS compatible hilt, but on the Build-a-saber thing you put on the site, it's listed as Not MHS Compatible. I'm confused now, which is it?

An MHS pommel will fit the Bane.

Could I use parts from the custom saber shop and swap them out for parts on these sabers (the ones sold by ultrasabers)? Thanks!

Are the MHS compatible components backwards compatible with 100% MHS sabers? In other words, would I be able to take a Consular Emitter and replace it with the emitter on something like this..?

Hey, I don't see the Overlord on the list but I've seen it in many posts with various MHS pommels and emitters so I'm assuming it was an oversight?

My real question however, is can the Overlord pommel be ordered on it's own?  I don't see it in the Build Your Own Saber section.

I'm looking for a low profile pommel, much like the Prophecy, but the the Proph pommel isn't cut for sound.

Is the choke on the Catalyst male/male or male/female?  Can I swap out the emitter on the end of the choke or is removing the emitter going to leave me with a male thread (like the Archon)?

From body up the choke is, Male/Female.

The LED sitts at the top of the choke and isn't in a round Module like the on say the liberators. It's difficult to explain.

I'll try better and PM you with pics when I get back from Star Wars. ;D

I think I get it - if the LED sits above the choke then that pretty much answers my question - I can put a different emitter on the end of the choke, but unless I want to mess with with the wiring (I don't), I can't remove the choke and put an emitter on the body.

Were you thinking of getting a Catalyst and changing the emitter?

If you were, you can order the full saber plus the emitter and ask int he comments that they please build it to work with that emitter.

The emitters on my Dark Catalyst and Shock have this same LED setup so the emitters have focusing pieces, since the LED isn't sitting in the little mirrored module.

How's that? It's hard to explain without pictures and  my camera is dead from today.

I have one on the way; it's from the raffle so I'm sure it was fully pre-assembled; I wasn't going make any special requests for what is essentially a gift.

 I thought it might be fun thiugh to try a few different looks with it and order some other emitters.  I'll find out soon enough when it arrives.  :)

The original Aeon is not MHS compatible.  The newer Aeon V3 is.

Yes, any pommel that is MHS compatible will work on an MHS compatible hilt.  It makes for some good customization options!

If you look at the page for the Initiate V3 (which is essentially a shorter version of the Aeon), it shows some different pommel choices and how they look.

I was told that a Dark Shock that I purchased at WonderCon 2011 was not MHS compatible, why is that? Because I really would like to puchase some different emitter and pommel styles to put on this saber.

I don't see any reason why it wouldn't be... who said it wasn't?

Ummm, no I didn't say that.  The Dark Shock has an MHS compatible emitter, body, and pommel.  Fully MHS compatible.  You must have spoken to someone else... less knowledgeable.

I inquired about wether or not I could put an Overlord emitter on my Shock in an email and I got a response saying because my particular Shock was an older model that didn't use an MLS unit I wouldn't be able to put that emitter on there. I apologize in advance if you only meant that particular emitter but I got the impression the same thing applied to all the MHS emitters as well.

Being MLS compatible is not the same as being MHS compatible.  The older versions of the Shock did not use MLS units.  An MHS emitter would work, but not an emitter designed for exclusive use with an MLS unit, like the Overlord emitter.

I think all V3 sabers take the MHS pommels listed on the site.

Only those made to fit the old, thinner v2 versions. None of the newer, MHS pommels fit in those.

So I could, say, replace the emitter on the reaper with a dark war glaive emitter to make my own saber? I think that'd be friggin' sweet to have as my first custom saber. Either way, I'm definately going to want sound and an arctic blue blade, since it's the closest color you have to the silver-blue blade my SWTOR character has (note the sig: Urzig Vaylen is my SWTOR character name).

What does 'MHS compatible' mean? Does it mean you can take the pommel (for example) off and put a pommel from another saber on  there instead? If so, what does the 'MHS' stand for?

Modular Hilt System. Which means parts of the saber are interchangeable, such as the pommel, emitter, and even some other parts like extensions, couplers, and necks.

I am still trying to figure out what I am looking to buy, and wanting to know if the dark war glaive emitter will work on the phantom staff?

The Phantom is built using two Initiate sabers, which aren't MHS compatible aside from their pommels, or in this case the coupler.

Hi there.  My double saber was made of two Dominix V2 sabers.  Would the Dominix be compatible enough to use the Yari Extenders?

Not for the Dominix v2, no - they're different diameters, and US don't offer an adapter to link the two together.

On the Catalyst, is the led in the choke or the emitter? and whats the retention screw size? I'm planning to buy two of them and switch the emitter and pommel out for ones I've found on tcss

The LED is in the choke, and it's not the usual style of LED. You'd need to buy additional LEDs to replace it, as the lens in the Catalyst is inside the emitter - it's a unique arrangement. It works well, but it doesn't lend itself to modifications the way other MHS hilts do (I enjoyed playing around with mine, though!)

For an all-silver twin MHS hilt, you might want to consider the Shocks or Arbiters as an alternative.

Nice.  I had the idea of coupling two Dark War Glaive sabers in mind for my CosPlay project.

Forgive my ignorance, what does MHS mean?

MHS = Modular Hilt System

 It's a series of components with a set size thread, so they can be interchanged without any loss of functionality. TCSS, Ultrasabers, and a few independent guys all use MHS threading, as it allows easy intercompatibility and modification by those of us lucky enough to have one of their creations.

 It also makes it easier for third parties to make accessories, as you can buy MHS blanks to machine your own emitters and pommels, or vented MHS sections to use as couplers or to build into crystal chambers etc.

this is something that's been bugging me for a whilst now

the fore grip on the arbiter (grip section below the emitter), can it be removed?

a lot of pictures I've seen show the LED on one end of it and the wires coming out the other end before going into the main part of the body. I've also seen some with the quick disconnect so I guess that wouldn't be an issue as you could disconnect the LED, swap the fore grip for a different part, then re-connect the LED

But would this be possible with an Emerald driver installed?

I'm thinking of getting an arbiter in emerald as my ultimate customization saber, but if I can't change the fore grip without have to dis-connect then re-wire the LED then i'll look at a different saber

Hey! I just have a few questions.

I saw on the most recent sale (free premium grab bag with purchase of $500 or more) that the Scorpion emitter was placed on the Dark Arbiter. Is that specific to the sale, or is the Scorpion emitter MHS compatible? Or am I just confused (I am new at this, after all)?

Also, if I would want to order a lightsaber with a hilt that is fully MHS compatible (emitter, pommel, etc.), can I substitute a different emitter than the one provided with the lightsaber, or is there an extra cost? For example, if I wanted to buy a Shock, could I substitute the Manticore emitter? If so, would there be an extra cost and how would I order that specification?

Yes you can order a new emitter but I think you have to add it to your order by going to build your own saber section.  Or email Emory before placing an order and arrange with him - he can tell you how to pay for any extra cost.

Connah, I'm also wondering if the neck on the arbiter/dark arbiter can be removed or not, but for a different purpose. Simply, to make the arbiter shorter (as I like the grooved body, but I'm more of a middle length hilt saber user). Could be a cool customization option. All 4 parts of the arbiter are MHS compatible, so I would say "Yes?" with a question mark to my question and possibly your first question, but I have no idea as to your further questions about disconnecting options/Emerald Driver options. Since I'm only a few months into the hobby, I'm sure you understand and I hope someone a little more experienced could answer your questions. But, I'll look a little bit at the forums and see if I find anything and I'll link it to you if I find something.

yes you can and you can even use an emitter as a pommel if you wanted to. I've seen quite afew commonly use couplers to add windows to sabers that regularly don't come with them towards the emitter

I answered my first question thanks to a little searching on the forums. Thanks Brian64. According to him, the emitter is MHS compatible (so I guess purchase it separately?), but it's not accessible to take off the Scorpion itself due to the shroud on the Scorpion (unless you want to void your warranty and dissemble your Scorpion yourself).

So i have two questions, one pertaining to MHS and the other to saberstaffs. I noticed that all the emitters i would be interested in purchasing are all out of stock. will they be restocked anytime soon, and also i want to get a saberstaff that is equipped with an emerald driver. is this possible?

Fulcrum and Lost Gray aren't on the list.

That list is from 2011.  The Fulcrum and Lost Gray didn't exist then.  But they have MHS compatible pommels.

I read the coupler is compatible with all sound sabers and V3 and V4 too but I tried to install it on my liberatorV3 and it is not, so, before my purchase i'd like to know if it is compatible with the ProphecyV3

I just gotten a stunt Dark Catalyst and instead of getting the Dark Catalyst pommel for it I'm thinking of getting a Grandmaster pommel, but I'm not sure if they connect smoothly together.
