Saber Forum

This is an attempt to provide examples of every blade colour on every hilt offered by Ultrasabers. That’s around 600 combinations - and unsurprisingly some of them don’t exist (Where’s the love for Bane’s Heart and Emerald Green?) so this is likely to be a permanent work in progress.

It’s also been interesting to see some of the hilts that aren’t as popular, it seems. I’m not surprised that we don’t have many Scorpion pictures, yet, but does anyone own a Catalyst or Dark Monarch?

I’ve done my best to pair up as many combinations as possible. Some of the time I’ve had to guess at colours, but mostly people have been good enough to list them. If anything looks wrong, well, it’s not through lack of effort!

I hope this helps folks, and please don’t let it stop you looking through the galleries and reviews here. While I’ve tried to pick the ‘best’ shots, there are lots to choose from in most cases - typing ‘Aeon’ into the search engine produces around 250 results for the Gallery and Review boards alone, for example. I’ve provided a single review/gallery for each combination (with only a few exceptions) and I’ve also thrown in a few interesting topics at the end as well.

To all those whose ‘sabres are featured in these links, thank you for sharing your pics and helping us all try and choose what combinations we want - whether to match up with something we’ve seen on here, or just to try something different.

There aren't enough force points in the galaxy to be worth the effort you must have put into this.  I'm sure this will be helpful to a lot of people, myself included.   8)

I stickied this topic because it's tremendously useful, in my opinion.  It's amazing how seeing a particular color and hilt combination, even if you don't think it would look particularly good, can change your outlook dramatically.  I've had it happen, myself!

Light side points for you, James Casey.  I'll see if there's anything I can contribute, although unfortunately my only Emerald Green saber isn't truly representative because it uses an older Lux V LED instead of the RGB one used by Ultrasabers currently.

If I have time after laying a floor tonight, I'll take some pics of my Arbiter in BR, EG, SY, and VA to help fill that one out for you.

Wow, James, I have to say I admire you for the time and effort you must've put into this! I'm sure it will prove most useful to many a saber-owner :-)

As for any missing combinations, you could always try doing print screens of YouTube videos, although it might be tricky to get a clear picture... Either way, this is really interesting and thanks again!

Here is my Dark Monarch in Fire Orange.
The color of the blade is quite close to a Crayola orange.  It is an ultraedge if that is any concern.

I've always wanted a catalyst ever since I saw it.

It was my first (and to date only) saber and I was, too, captivated by the sight of it. I highly recommend this (apparently underappreciated) model!

Have to admit the catalysts hilts are rather underused but with that yari extension it looks rather slick...how long does it end up being and how is the balance?

In inches...? uuhhh... about 30 I think (86 cm is what I measured pommel to emitter)
As for balance, I think its okay, takes some getting used to going from a 6' bo. I'm probably going to get another yari or two and a smaller blade (still a 38", going to a 24").
The yari really matches the design of the Catalyst hilt, though. Looks awesome on my wall (sadly no sparing partners ;.;)

I have a Dominix V3 in sunriders destiny, Basic Initiat saber in emerald green,  and a Graflex in emerald green all being up for pictures on Christmas day,.......... Its killing me to stare at the boxes and I cant touch them....... I can shake the box....... why must I wait???????

Does anyone know if Violet Amethyst looks better in UltraEdge Heavy Grade or regular Heavy Grade?

I prefer it in regular blades, but it's a personal choice of course. My view of ultra-edge blades is that they look great on cooler/lighter colours (Sunrider's Destiny and Adegan Silver, for example) but on warmer/deeper colours like Violet Amethyst or Blazing Red I prefer regular blades.

In my experience, incidentally, there's very little difference between the appearance of a midgrade and regular blade unless you're actually looking for it.

I second that, VA looks better in regular blades to me. I feel like some of the color is washed out in the ultra edge.

Okay excellent! Thanks guys! I've seen some videos on youtube where people have Violet Amethyst blades in Heavy grade or mid-grade blades and they said pretty much the exact same thing.

I've actually had the opposite experience. I find that the warmer colors look better in ultra-edge, and cooler look better in Mid-grade. But as Deep said in the "Blade Video." it all comes down to pesronal taste. I've noticed that in pics of BR in an Ultra-edge, it looks straight-up like movie effect, bright pink at the core with a red aura. But on the flip side AB in a Mid-grade has the same effect to the naked eye.

I think everyone should just get one of everything so they can see for themselves... and fill in the gaps in the list ;)

I was wondering about something with your double bladed sabers. How do they connect? Do you have to screw them together or is it easier to take apart?

Not a rep of the company, but... Ultrasabers offers varying styles of couplers to make saber staffs. The couplers screw into the threads used by the pommels. Some are vented for sound, some run flush with the bodies. The latest design that they put out is adjustable so that you can align features.

I was going through and noticed that you don't even have the azure reaper on the list. I have one with emerald that i will start taking pictures of when my camera is charged and i can upload them for you :)

I've begun work on a second version of this list, with all the new hilts (an extra 23+, depending on how many versions of the Renegade get released!) and I'm filling in lots of gaps as I go. There are actually some complete lists now (Aeon v2, Manticore) and as I have more hilts I can fill in some more of the gaps myself.

If anyone is able to help out by sharing photos, or providing links to their review/gallery posts of recent purchases, especially newer hilts like the Chosen One, Dark/Azure/Crimson Menaces/Omens/Mantises... I would really appreciate it :)

I just got my Chosen One CE as well, but it has the emerald driver so I'm not sure how much that will help since the colors can vary compared to the LED modules.

I never thought pink would turn out great as a saber color, but dang that looks awesome! Gives it a nice balance of colors.

You are not blind.  They are not on the list because they were not released at the time this was posted.  If you want to post pics of them I'm sure they would be helpful in building a more comprehensive list.

Hey Everyone!  Would anyone be able to post some pics of the Dark Sentinel with some different blade colors?  I am debating getting BR but I kind of want to see some other colors before I make my decision.  I am stuck between CR, and VA but it doesn't have to be those.  Thanks everyone! 

I assume by your listed color choices that you swing towards the Dark Side? This is unfortunate for you as both of these blade colors look excellent in a Dark hilt.

Pro: BR can come in Tri-Cree which means brighter and fuller color. Con: It's kinda over done, but with good canon behind it.

Pro: VA it's more exotic. Con: doesn't come in Tri-Cree.

I have both of these colors in std MLS. The BR is my go-to. I just love the color.

Dark side indeed my friend! But if we are gonna get technical I would say gray Jedi haha. I love the BR (and would get tri-Cree) but I feel like that is the easy solution. I will probably end up goin with VA or CG. If I go CG the backstory would be that the lightsaber was taken off a dead sith and I rebuilt with CG from a jedi saber....or something along those lines haha.

I keep telling people this...Your blade color doesn't determine your affiliation. It the color of what's inside that counts. Because chronologically, Vader's first lightsaber was.........?

When I plan on going full Sith costume for episode 8 next year, I will definitely be going for DA or PO.  From pictures on forum both colours look suitably Sith but slightly different from usual BR. 

Not that I have anything against BR.  I have two BR sabers.  Normal single LED in cheap Dark ST stunt and Tri-Led in Menace Staff.

As I'm working on the second edition of this list, I wanted to check something with folks.

Would it be easier for people looking through this to have the the hilts organised alphabetically, or grouped more logically?

At present it's alphabetical, but if it makes more sense to group the v3s, v4s, Reapers, Menaces and so on together, I'll go with that. I think it may be easier for me to search for hilts that way too as I won't have to scroll up and down through a 30 page document when I've got the Dark Mantis, Azure Mantis, Crimson Mantis, Mantis etc all popping up in the same search results.

I would echo D7's sage advice ( ;) ) on that.

That said - maybe in order from the store in terms of Lowest price to Higher price, so you start with the v2s and go up to Chosen One & Flaberge CE's would be a decent way to go.

Oh - and I SWEAR the galleries I owe you will be done by the end of the year, my friend!   :D

I'll leave it to you to decide on alphabetical or not, but I would recommend the leaving out the color designators for individual designs. (ie: the Menace and Mantis) List one, and all of it's permutations, then move on to the next model. I would also exempt hilts like the Archon and Flam from the "V-series" hilts.

How is the tricolor compared to single led? I have a dark war glaive in br amd I want a dark standard to make it a staff but if I get it I  tri blazing red will I notice huge difference or should  I stick with consistent  reds?

Can someone provide a photo of a dark (black) hilt with a blue button? All I ever see is them with silver, red or occasionally black buttons (the regular most basic buttons).
I have a dark apprentice v4 with a consular green blade on order, so I'm assuming it'll come with a blue button...I'm just really curious to see what blue buttons look like on a black hilt like mine!

can some one tell me how much the colour discs effect the brightness

It does affect the brightness (I have AS with color discs), but the blade is nonetheless freaking bright, even with four discs lined up inside. I cannot really give you a scale, but maybe I can, in a few days, give you a comparison to the Lee filters.

Right, a quick update.

I'm hoping to get this done by the end of the month. I have to do a batch of extra pictures with my own hilts/LEDs, but there are a few hilts I don't own, and which seem to be very rare in general on the board, so I have half or less of the colours.

Hi James.  So someone for example, could provide photos of their dark Menace in all or most of the requested colors if they have a 4 ch. Emerald driver ?   :)

The crossguards might be a special case since most of them will be in the basic colors even the few with emerald have to kinda do neat trickery with their ccross guards to get the different colors.

Hey guys, looking forward to being a contributing member here, so I am here to offer my 4ch Emerald Dark Catalyst up for show.

I noticed that there aren't any mentions of the DC at all in this tread, but I did skim through quickly.

It's from '13 and seems to be for RGB's and not for Emerald's... which I guess is still 100% accurate since if you don't get Emerald...these are your colors. The 4ch E. Drive allows for WAYYY better colors, I've made a few really sweet colors and combos with the little time i've messed around. Like MY AS is more silvery, just a hint of blue and viola! My Dk VA is like a blacklight, my SRD is a little less GREEN and more tealish.

Any ways I have pics of all the US colors on my DC, stand by for mass upload!!

I've an Emerald Dark Arbiter (RGBA), so I could post a few photos in different colors if needed. Also available Archon v2.1 in Fire Orange, Dominix v4 in Arctic Blue, Aeon v4 in violet amethyst,  and Apprentice v4 in arctic blue.

I'm very curious to see what G+A and B+A looks like.

Nice. So how does the Hot Pink look in person? My mom has also been interested in that color. Is it much like the Bane's Heart just brighter like how Consular Green is compared to Emerald Green? I find Emerald Green a bit darker but not brightness wise, like shade wise. I got a Dominix V4 LE saber in Guardian Blue with a blue guarded switch, looks pretty cool. I'll get a pic up for you soon for the person that asked awhile back. Can I get a full blade shot of Sentinel Yellow too? i want that color in my saber collection as well at some point. Like full blade shot then kind of a close up in the emitter section? natural color though no emerald =]

What color would you consider for Ahsoka Tano's Clone Wars era shoto blade?

What I came up with for my  Apprentice v4 was this:

R: 10%
G: 100%
B: 0%
A: 100%

With the pulse the only change was to drop the A: to 75%.

(The Archon is in  CG (G: 100% with pulse at G: 80%))

These are heavy grade blades.

I added the red to make the blade color a little more yellow than the straight G+A 100% seen earlier.  The producers had said they had pushed Ahsoka's blade as close to yellow as possible while still being green.

My dark monarch is the silver led.  Do you need pictures?  My bestie also has the mantis I am 98% sure it is the sunriders destiny.  I would be happy to grab some pictures of hers as well; I noticed the mantis isn't listed at all.  She also has the claws.

Actually, Bane's Heart and Hot Pink are two different colors.  Bane's Heart is a touch more magenta, closer to Violet Amethyst.  Hot Pink uses a bit less blue in the mix, so it is closer to a true pink.

That maybe true however the two have been used in place of each other quite often when being discussed here on the forum.

But, yeah, to the eye, Bane's Heart, while more properly a magenta, is what most would call pink, and pretty bright pink at that.  To people not as fussed about specific hues, it could easily be called "Hot Pink" by most.  Add to that, that color mixes in a saber don't strictly equate to color mixes for RGB monitor display, and exact definitions get a lot fuzzier.

Are there any full length shots of these?  I know that violet amethyst tends to change colors down the length of the blade, with the red more visible than the blue at points.  Do the blue + amber combinations on the RGBA also do this?

Funny, my eyes see virtually the same color :P  At least my wife has better photo-receptors in her eyes than I do; when I showed her these pics, she noticed a subtle difference.  I guess I'm just (partially) color-blind  ;)

They are virtually the same color. But the BH is distinctly more red. If you saw them side by side, you'd easily see the difference.

I imagine you're right, DL.  Still: which do you prefer and/or would you choose another alternative?

Depends on the hilt color. For the Crimson Scorp I'd go with the BH. It is more red than the HP and won't clash as much.

However, I recently ordered a Dark Ini V4 in HP that looked particularly nice. ;D

My name is Joanna and I  my saber.  I bought an Initiate v4, with Sunrider's Destiny, silver AV switch and a Lithium ion,  and Buck-puck.
I am somewhat of a computer and, Star Wars geek and have been since I was 5 years old.

So uh...I heard they have a new hilt,Emperor's Revenge or something like that.Can it be combined with other types of blades or is there just like,one hilt going with one type of blade?Also,this is my first post,so uh...don't suddenly burst into flames...

Blade types are interchangeable with any hilt. The Emperor's Hand is capable of being fit with Quick Disconnects, which make it possible to change out LED colors. OR you can spend extra on the setup and get Emerald or Diamond controllers that will allow you to customize your own color mixes.

We're not the ones who should worry about bursting into flames, but you have already taken care of posting in RULES. >:D

Okay, quick question then: Which color is closer to Mace Windu's blade, Violet Amethyst or Blue Violet Amethyst? I ordered the blue violet, but want to make sure it's the right one as it is a gift.

Violet Amethyst.

The Dark version has too much blue in it to match Windu's, but it does look particularly good. I got my Emperor's Hand in DVA.
