The Old Republic is the only game I have seen in a long time I want to try out so I am hoping to be playing, although my current computer system may need replacement before then.

I don't really play MMOs much any more, don't have as much time, and went through some physical problems that made it tough for me to sit at a computer for too many hours. Also, it's tough to justify a subscription fee when you only log in a few hours a week to play online games.
I was pretty tempted by this game though, especially when I first heard about it. My interest has waned a bit since then, but I still get their newsletters, and am keeping an eye on it. Even though I've never played a MMORPG before, I definitely MUST play that game...I loved KOTOR and Mass Effect and have complete faith Bioware can pull off something amazing with TOR. I just finished reading SW TOR Fatal Alliance and will be interested in seeing what elements of that makes it into the game...what I found particularly interesting was how the book tried to 'balance' participation of characters from different 'classes' as all making worthy contribution to the story in the book [some SW EU fiction seems like everything is about Jedi/Sith but this book improves that]...if Bioware can pull that off in the gameplay for TOR as well it will really be great fun to play as any class I think Title: Re: Post here if you're going to give this game a shot Post by: Luckyjack on December 27, 2010, 12:31:52 PM Would love to try it out. Second lands in March. And fear not, I think they'll tie up Revan's story at long last. Or at least continue it. One of the trailers (can't remember if this was on the website or youtube, but it was done in engine and is indeed the real thing) had several Sith party members discovering some ancient site Revan had once visited. *********MILD SPOILERS********** It was the site where Revan was reborn. Whatever that means. I took it to mean a literal reincarnation, and not where he first turned to the dark side. The trailer ended on a cliffhanger of sorts and it seemed to indicate that this rebirth was AFTER KOTOR/KOTOR2. Now if only I could find said trailer to link here... Of course this is the same woman that has said "How many lightsabers do you need?" Clearly I'm misunderstood...
In an unrelated rant, I can't wait to pass on my Ultra Saber Initiates to my twin daughters (I envision a whole Obi-Wan/Luke moment... "This is your father's lightsaber, an elegant weapon for a more civilized age"...). Of course they are only a month old, so I'll have to wait a while. I think I'm more excited about the prospect of space battles than anything else. A lot of the ground combat is fairly standard in MMOs but the space combat is fairly unique. Looking forward to the fully-voiced aspect of it as well.

I've never been a huge fan of mmos however. I never seem to know anyone who plays the same games I do, and am too shy to join a random guild. But if their is a US guild, then I will be much more comfortable. I think I may start out as a jedi. Does anyone know if you can fall to the dark side or vis versa, or do you have to stay with your chosen affliation throughout the game?

I don't think I will never take Vista (not an OS, just a joke) nor 7. I use Mac for EVERYTHING except games.
But if the game is Mac'patible, I'll give it a try on Mac. Windows works fine when you use it only for one thing. Me and a couple of friends are going to be playing SW:TOR. We originally came from the Moonglade-EU realm and got bored with it. So we formed The Fifth Order and are planning on joining a european RP-realm. 4 of us already sent in our pre-order codes, so if all goes well BioWare should automatically set up our guild on one of their servers during pre-launch ;D Oh, and I also set up a nice little (free) website for our future guild through GuildLaunch.com. I like it because it was very easy to set up and manage ;) |
