Hey guys, I just ordered the second half of my saber staff and I'm super excited. It's going to be made up of two Sentinel Yellow Dark Initiate V4s with windowed emitters. I haven't seen a dedicated topic for this so I thought I'd make a thread where people can show off their staffs. I'll add pictures as soon as it arrives in a few days.

That Guardian staff.. I'm very temped to get a second Guardian now.

I had a Guardian in GB... and then I happened to win another one in a raffle.  So I put the staff together for a picture but I really don't use it that way.  I'm debating trying to trade Guardian #2 for something different so I have more variety.

Looks awesome! I hope to build a Menace staff eventually. Is that the SE or CE?

Now, I have 36 inch blades and from the floor to the ceiling it's around 9 feet and this saber gives me barely an inch when I stand it straight up from blade tip to blade tip.

My gosh, 36" blades, that beast is an Abomination......  8)  +1 Mastarius  :)

Even holding the staff diagnaly? :P This thread makes me want a saber staff of some kind even more though for sure just unsure of blade colors like always :P Both mine will be matching though

I thought up a backstory for the name...

Mastarius ended up defeating another Sith Lord who used an orange bladed lightsaber like him but with his Raven damaged near the pommel along with the dead Sith's scorpion having the same issue and sensing Jedi approaching Mastarius used the force and joined the two sabers fixing the damage and giving birth to what many who faced off against it and die by it's firey orange blades would call an abomination...!  8)

So the name basically stuck as he began racking up the kills with it.

You don't have to buy a staff.  Just buy a coupler and put two of your sabers together.  ;)

Unless you are like me where it has to be symmetrical, and then by all means, by a staff.  ;D

I don't particularly like that it is two different colors, but I have seen very few Bellicose staffs, so here's mine. The colors are Pyrestone Orange and Dark Violet Amethyst.

Hey shade.  Your dark Menace staff looks really impressive.  Much more daunting than the usual SE Maul staff.  Also the DVA blades make it very Sithy or Grey.  +1 point and thanks for sharing.   8)

So, impressions so far.  To be honest, I've never been a huge fan of saber staffs, as a fighting implement.  They're not my usual kind of fighting weapon, and always seemed a little bit awkward to me.  But, I knew that aesthetically I'd like it, and I wanted to get something in Emerald to play around with some of the higher end stuff, and I could always split them and dual wield if I really didn't like the staff setup, because I do like the hilts on their own (with a little lengthening), but...I don't think these will be spending much time split up.  I was actually quite taken aback by how well it handled and flowed through some quick strikes and blocks, even in the close quarters of my dining room, after I first put it together.  It didn't FEEL at all awkward, although you still want to maintain awareness of where that other blade is, and your body, and ne'er the two should meet.   ;)

I'm glad I got it, it looks truly badass (even after I realized how much the knurled buttons made it a little harder to use, and switched to some quite small thumbscrews, as you can see in the pics), and elegant at the same time.  I can switch it to any color I like, whenever I like (It'll mostly be DVA or EG), and it handles wonderfully.  Like I said when I video reviewed the first half of the staff, it's a nice single blade hilt, but it just feels like it's meant to have that extra length and extra blade.

Also, I think I've heard people say that the sound can be screwy if you have it running on both ends of a staff saber, but I don't get any of that with mine.  I suspect, if it really is an issue for others, that the non-adjustable coupler may be part of why they have sound issues, as those are, IIRC, completely hollow through-and-through, and so you get two speakers directly facing each other.  The adjustable has each speaker separated from the other by the screw and toothed wall juncture.  


Anyway, with all the sabers I've ordered in the last few months, I've got nearly a hundred bucks in rewards to put towards next month's big purchase (I've got a selection of the higher-end stuff planned before I throttle back a bit), which will be my dream Flamberge, a V2 Emerald with AS side blades and V4 sound.

Also, I had been planning to remove the covertec wheel from one of the halves of this, but having seen how they sort of act as little stands when I set it on the counter for pictures, and that they're really not getting in the way, I think I'll leave it as is.

Very nice, and not often seen, staff. I placed my (first saber) order a few days ago for a dark arbiter with intentions of making it a future staff. I'll have shorter blades on it to offset the longer metal center. Next up will be a bellicose for my main saber. The forums are better than any catalog could have ever been lol

How does an Apprentice V4 staff look with 2 32 inch blades? Might get me one at some point but in Pyrestone Orange. Think that would look pretty slick. Might do all black hilts but with a silver coupler to give some character

In addition to just having the flexibility to have a variety of colors for my "beater" practice staff, this picture is precisely the other goal I had, which was to make use of some of the very rich, vibrant colors I could get via LEE filters on my Flamberge's side blades, but couldn't quite match with the RGB channels of the Emerald driver that runs the main blade.

Hi jellybelly ( your avatar of course  :P ).  Hope you are enjoying your Aeon v2.  I'm excited about the newer latching av switches as sometimes the guarded plastic ring gets in my way.  Am going to get x2 dark v2 Initiates with av switches to make a short staff with 24" midgrade blades.  Blade color likely tri -red or perhaps the new tri- arctic blue.  point for you just because I can.   ;D

I am not exactly a Light flyweight boxer however  ;D



I am enjoying this first saber (try to train between two nappies :) ) Will try to think about a second one ... a one blade staff. Your two blades staff are awesome but do you have enough inertia with small blades?

I usually use HG weight if using 24" blades on a two blade staff.  For my 5' 3" height that is enough.  May cut down some longer blades to 28".  I just want to use the v2 Initiate staff for one handed close combat use and to practice some throw spinning.  Will likely try out the 16" blades as well.  Think that everyone could find value in that 16" length.  Worst case scenario is that I have two really bright flashlights/torches.   ;D

Shade, this is my next purchase.  OK Yellow is my absolute favorite version of SY.  :-)

Nice photos Kencyrath.  The gold accents with the GB blades add a richness to the Sentinel staff.  Am liking the color from the photon blades as well.  I want to obtain the shorter dark Initiate v2 staff so it's helpful to see what it will look like.   point   :D

Hi Mads. Really nice staff with my favorite blade color.  Am giving you a dark side point and will change your light side ones to your darker preference.  Have to remove the others first to get you to a total of 4 ds points.   :)

Yeah I think Violet Amethyst comes through a Saber so well I had to get it for the Staff and the team at US got the color so good on it I won't dare change it. My favorite attribute (other than obviously the color) is how well it translates even in a brightly lit room.


hengpy does the para cord or rope on that Staff come apart? Or is it mostly for display? I only ask because I love the look you have going on with your Staff but how well does the wrapping hold up to consistent use?

The paracord on it holds very well. I using the hilts for spinning and nothing has came out or fall apart.

That staff is literally the biggest thing. I haven't seen a saber that big before. How easy/ difficult is it to move around with that thing? Like, is it fun to use in combat or do you just use it as a show off abomination saber?

I have trouble with my consular staff and 24" blades haha. That thing is boss though

I wasn't sure if red illuminated switches would work with a VA staff so I went back and forth with that option or just plain black guarded switches. I still can't figure out if I made the right call or not lol!

I like t use Renegade large pommels when I split the staff in to 2 sabers.

Mads I used to feel bound to matching the AV switch to the blade color.  But now I don't think i'll do it again, because an off color switch adds detail and contrast that compliments the whole package.  VA is made with a mixture of blue and red - so any of those for an AV switch would actually compliment the blade and i think yours does on your staff.   

Yeah you can't help but feel like you have to follow a color code. If my understanding of the books is correct all lightsabers are built by hand in the SW universe so it should only make sense that if you have any other illumination on the hilt (like power switches) should be varying colors.

I am beginning to favor black or silver guarded switches for future purchases simply for the protection they offer. Hilts will hit! Put a good swing in to your attack or adjust your hold to block and sometimes the hilts meet in the middle. With Renegade and Scorpion pommels some scraping from those pointy edges start showing up on the hilts to! Hopefully those illuminated switches never take a direct hit but so far they seem to hold up well.

Here's a good example hazard of what I'm a little worried about. Look right above the power switch in this pic you'll notice a good scratch. No big deal to me since I view nicks, dings, wear n' tear as decor, battle scars if you will but obviously the reason I'm leaning towards guarded switches from now on.

Thanks Mads and a point back to you as well!  I see that scratch and it looks like a good one :)  I think for the most part your hands will take most of the beating rather then the switch but your picture proves otherwise lol.  I like the low profile of the AV's but a guarded switch has a nice activation feel to it.  I like the one on my stunt and it's an nice option for the reasons you'd like to try it.

With V4 sound and QDs, so it's VERY flexible.

You can rub most of those types of scratches out or minimize their visibility with MAAS Metal Polish.  It's what the guys at UltraSabers use there in the shop.  I've used it myself and it's fantastic stuff and really adds a shine, too.

Using O-rings to get things to line up.  I'd much prefer metal shims, the rubber of the O-rings means that the joints to the coupler are a little wobbly, but it's not too bad.

I put my other photos in the wrong thread haha. I combined my dark Sentinel V4 and dominix V4 into a diamond staff. Dark Sentinix staff? I'm contemplating doing some weathering, good or bad idea? I would practice on my stunt dark initiate first.

Very nice staff. I'm going to do something similar with a Dark Apprentice LE and Dark Initiate LE when I get the Initiate.

Have any weathering tips? I'm thinking about just using sand paper.

Thank you. Did exactly what Therion Jinn suggested, I used a couple different grits of sandpaper and went to town. Used some scotch brite pads to smooth it out afterwards. Didn't take too long to get them to look like that.
