Title: Fin / Rey SABER Font anyone?
Post by: Amazonite on January 13, 2016, 01:19:55 AM
Hey everyone. The Force Awakens does have Luke's old saber (now Rey's) making a new, upgraded noise (clash, hum, etc). Anyone know if there are any fonts out there for these new sounds? Thanks!

Those sounds were absolutely amazing, I second this.

Mmmmm...yes, everyone's been so focused on Kylo Ren's saber and making a font for it, but I want to hear the new font for Anakin's saber. It was so slick in the movie.

I agree with both of you, hopefully somebody will make a sound font, or post one that is already made.

I agree as well. The first time the lightsaber was turned on in Ep VII, the bass on it blew me back. It was crazy and this would be my sound font of choice.

I came back to the saber forum after months of not checking it, only to look for a ep7 anakin/luke/finn/rey font... make it happen!

I'll give this a bump, see if anyone has anything for it.

At first it sort of bothered me that his saber made a different sound. But I suppose age might effect the components in a lightsaber. I'd love a font of this.

IT EXISTS.....i just don't know where to find it.

Here's the situation, there is a website and for rules purpose we'll call them... I dunno ........ Mark's Sabers. They sell a Graflex Kit designed by TCSS. I saw a video review by searching about the Kit on YouTube. I'm gonna go and find that hang on.

Beware, he mentions MANY other sabersmiths. Proceed with caution.

Anyhow, his soundboard had 2 fonts on it, one being the ANH soundfont and the other being the bassy TFA soundfont. You can attempt to contact him and ask where he got his soundfont and if it would be compatible with Obsidian. Good luck!

That is a *really* nice ignition sound.

But, it's only the ignition. Someone else would have to make the other sounds for a true TFA Light Side font.

Thanks for all your bumps and replies! Hopefully some legend like NinjaJesus makes a font, or maybe the guy from that video will share with us the font he has created.

Unfortunately he intends only to bundle that don't with his Graflex sabers. I asked on Facebook.

He stated that the files would be for sale soon on a certain saber font selling site. Just awaiting approval from them apparently.

Another thought, if you do the Google Light side thing, your YouTube volume adjuster will make the sounds of a Ep. 7 Finn/Rey saber. You could try to rip those sounds into a font. The only sounds it doesn't have is clash/lockup.

I just looked and the promotion ended today.

I have HD audio of TFA and have ripped this Ign sound from the start of the Fin Kylo fight. It sounds awesome. As soon as I can get the hum to properly sync to the ignition I will share with this forum.

You ripped the audio and removed Finn's breathing from the Ign sound?

There is no breathing during the ignition, some while its idleing  but that's alright because I'm only taking a 1-2 sec clip and mirroring it a few times.  I've read some good font guide and I'm no stranger to audacity. Hopefully I'll have something worth sharing by the weeks end as work has be very busy atm.

Update:
Making fonts is harder then iI thought  lol. I have a decent Ignition and power down sound, but the hum/clash, and swings are all doff volumes and sound fine as single sound files but very weird when put in a saber and used. I WILL be keeping at this font, as I really like the new movies saber sounds. It just won't be as speedy as I would like because finding time for a saber hobby while being single, owning a house, and working 50+ hours/week. Not to mention 2 dogs to walk and play every day. Time is precious. Just wanted to put it out there that I haven't given up!!  :)
