If you want a few free fonts just to play around with, feel free to download the fonts below.  They were made for us by a volunteer in our own community with the LSU Encoder.  They are not as high quality as the fonts found in our Obsidian Font Store, but they will give you the ability to play around with the font changing capabilities of your Obsidian board.

I have a question:  I have downloaded the new fonts (zipped) onto my desktop.  Opening the obsidian program and going to my desktop I can see the fonts in zipped format, but cannot access them in the obsidian program to load them.  Also, I can double click on the fonts while in desktop and can see the separate lsu files.  If the fonts need to be unzipped how do I do that...do I need a special program.

try extracting them to their own file on your desktop. i created a folder for each font on my desktop. for example....
if you have the classic font, create a new folder( maybe called classic) and extract all those files into the new classic folder. have this folder on your desktop. then in your obsidian program it should be there.

Great DT, That worked!!!  One other question; why does a each font have so many "impact" and "motion" files, do they all have to be loaded or are they there for individuals to pick and choose based on their preferences?

i believe they are indicidual. i think you can have up to 12 motions/swings. i also believe you for example do like 6 motions from the sith sounds and then 6 from the classic. soe you can end up having many different swing sounds if you wish. im not positive about that since i havent finished my saber yet which i am still pissed about >:(

The obsidian soundboard has something like 5 MB of space for your fonts. The space each sound takes is represented by the blue indicator at the bottom of the Obsidian launcher, and lets you know how mutch space you have left to full up.

Example: Default obsidian font still has some space on it, if you wish to add force sounds to your lockup or force lightning.

Just to clear stuff up: All clashes and motion sounds have their mother "hum" allso inprinted at the back. So if you choose (for example) 6 default obsidian swings and 5 sith swings, you will be able to see the change in the background hum when u swing your saber. Its not  a big thing, but just to let you all know. You can mix sounds from difrent fonts, but make sure the bacground HUM of the clashes/swings sounds similar to the HUM you selected, or you will notice the difrent HUM while swings/clashes acour.

Thanks, I was just wondering.  I thought you might have to upload all impact sounds and all clash sounds in order to make it work correctly.  I'm just going to upload one impact and one clash sound depending on what I like.

Hi everyone! Noob here making my first post... I'm planning on ordering my first saber from here soon, and in preperation I've already downloaded the Obsidian Launcher program as well as a few sound fonts. My question is this: Is there a way to "preview" the sounds without having a saber? I know you can load the program and run it "offline" I figured that much out, but I don't see a way to actually play the sounds so I can hear what they sound like without loading them onto a saber and turning it on. Am I missing something?

Open up the obisidian launcher, navigate to your sound fonts from inside the program, and ctrl click them and they'll play so you can hear what they sound like.

I can't get these files to work. I downloaded the old republic and starkiller fonts, put them on my desktop. When I try to even listen to them my laptop says "file not valid". I made sure I have version 2.0 what the heck is going on? Go easy on me people, I'm an idiot when it comes to computer issues

.lst files probably aren't a valid extension in whatever program you're attempting to play them in.  To preview the sounds open their folder location in the Obsidian Launcher and control click it. 

They can be played while the obsidian usb is connected and u play from the launcher or
its just the easiest way to play them right before u upload them onto obsidian

OK I got everything working now, thanks for the help guys. NOW I downloaded some clips from each of these fonts BUT I want to get some of the standard sounds back. I tried to get it from xsabers.com. It is free so I checked out for zero dollars and it said that it would be in the mail ??? What now? is there anyway I can just download the standard sound from here?

I suck at computers, everytime I try to download a sample font, all it does is open up media player and give me an error message. I have the obsidian launcher installed. and I can view the font/fonts in obsidian launcher but they appear with the (.zip) I just dont know how to get them to work :P.

So you have the packages themselves downloaded?  If so, you just unzip them using something like Winrar, and use that directory in the Obsidian launcher.  If not, click on "save target as" to save the RAR files to your computer and then unzip.

Well, everytime I download them the only place I can find them is the downloads folder and when I left click on any of them I dont even get the "save target as" thing as an option

i hope you can help ultra um i cant get the two new sound fonts i can get the starkiller and all the others but i cant get the other two it wont show up as zipped folder it just takes me back to the site

There are two sounds (saber tooth and Dominix nox) that I also can't open. They are a different file type than the rest. The rest of the fonts work great!
Would love to know how to make these ones work!

Download 7zip, the windows default wont open them.

I have unzipped them fine, and can get them on the drop list in the obsidian launcher. Problem is they are not lsu files, so the launcher does not recognize them.

Thats weird. Mine are ok.

These are definitely .lsu files.  Download winrar from here http://www.rarlab.com/download.htm (http://www.rarlab.com/download.htm) and use that to unzip them.

Sick fonts! But I won't be using them. Dominux would go well with Ancient Saber though. Hope to see more saber themed fonts.

i am hoping this is ok with everyone.. but some of you are wondering about getting some of the sounds or download links to work ... if need be i dont mind making a zip file with the program already to go with several sound fonts in the folder... compress it and make a program+fonts zip folder for all members... if this is ok with the masters and moderators, let me know and il set to work on the winrar/7zip compression

another example of this would be.. i have the program, and all available founts unzipped into the folder with the program.. i then take that folder of the program AND all sound files and compress it into a zip file.. so that all files are already in one folder when you unzip it.. you may still have to run the setup though.. keep this in mind... if the masters and moderators say im good to go with this... just to be safe when you unzip it .. make a new folder, and do a fresh install of the program.

As much as I like to customize my sounds, I really miss the original ones they came with .. where can I get /download these? I think I may have accidentally overwritten the default sounds with a blank slate! ARRGGHHH! :)  Is it the classic sounds?? I think they sound quite similar..

anyone working on anything new?

Yeah its been kinda dead. I'm wanting some more fonts for the 2.0 board made if anyone wouldn't mind. Would be awesome. I have the Episode 6 font on right now but I like that one personally. My theory is correct and my board can only use the store front fonts so anything like that would be awesome for me

ok, as much as peeps here may not like Rebels, or Ezra's gimmicky saber.. do you guys like the sound of it?? kinda sounds like a blaster going off when it turns on, then the "hum" sounds pretty awesome.. this would be a niice sounding font?

I've been mixing them and getting a CRAZY assortment of sound FX!  Numerous clash, blaster deflects, it's pretty amazing the freedom of configuration! :o

Hey can the Obsidian V4 fonts work with a V2 soundboard?? I really want to try that Episode II font. Unless someone don't mind fixing it to where it works for Obsidian 2.0? That's all I have for now :P

Just scroll down the page a bit and you can download it there. Once you unzip it you'll find Sister of Shadows and 9 other font packages.

Maybe try again? I had to re download a couple of the fonts from that page. I just thought it was my internet connection.

Hey guys, I'm just having trouble downloading the default Obsidian sounds. I click the links posted and it downloads a zipped file, but the file is empty when I go to extract. Is there a different link I can use or am I doing something wrong?

I've managed to download a couple other fonts from other people, but I would really like to have the default as backup option.

So please tell us what you did to correct this as downloading and storing sound fonts is an ongoing challenge for many owners.  Thanks.   :)

I've got the Guardian and the Consular sabers with the Obsidian V3 board. Got them in 2014, and haven't tried downloading and playing with fonts...until now. I've got the V4 launcher downloaded for my Bellicose, and I understand that the current launcher will work with the V3 board. I'm trying to download the Classic fonts, and am able to do so and extract them...or so it seems, but when I try to load from the folder I have saved to my desktop, the folder is empty. Where am I going wrong? Any suggestions?

The Tags for "Episode 1", "Ep 2" and "Ep 6" on the V4 default package are corrupt. They do not play correctly on both computer and saber. Can you please try it out and let us know if fixed versions will be available for download?

What exactly is happening for you?

I have several V4 sabers and have never had an issue with any of them . . .

Thanks for replying. I have a V4 saber and the Launcher for Mac version 1.04. When I run the sound wizard and preview the "Ep1, 2, or 6" boot/tag files, they don't sound right. Instead of a voice clearly announcing "Episode..." as shipped with the saber, it sounds like a garbled robotic sound. This is true for all 3 Episodes. Every other sound file is clearly audible except for those 3. Other users have confirmed the same problem. I dare not overwrite those 3 banks on my saber until I can get hold of a fixed sound font. If you start the launcher on your V4 and load up the Episode 1/2/6 on your Wizard, try to preview the Tag files. Do they sound right to you?

Put on Classic episode 5, and episode 6 fonts on instead then? :Pbi love the Classic font

Awesome. Just got my first Obsidian V4 blade the other day and was messing around (purposefully) wiped the board but I wanted to keep some of them on it. So big thanks for that.

 It's here on the Diamond default sounds offered on this page. It should work for you, but I'm not 100% certain. I can't seem to find the original.

I downloaded some of the Diamond controller stuff, but the file types don't seen like anything the Obsidian board uses. In the meantime I created a font and turned the volume down to 0% and it works, but it takes up space on the board.

 Here you go, just put this as the tag on the sound bank of your choice you would like silent and then write to board. It should work for you and then your not wasting space on your board.  Just click on the arrow right of the box to download.

Sorry to seem like an idiot, but I downloaded the file and it's a .wav file. Launcher seems to only want .lsu or  .lscfgx files. What do you mean by "tagging"?

Tag on Obsidian launcher means the boot slot. You can convert the file in Audicity. If you don't know how I will do it when I get home later.

Okay I downloaded the last link I posted for you and loaded it on the Launcher. It works just fine, it converted to .isu already. You shouldn't have any problems. Just put in the bank slot you want and put under Tag/Boot and write to board.

Again, thanks for all the help. I didn't realize that you could use .wav fiiles for the different sounds and then create a .lscfgx or whatever that extension is and load it into one of the banks.
I downloaded audacity and might start playing with it when I have more time. One question is how do you convert .wav files to .lsu files. I didn't see this extension as one of the export options. Or do people just keep using .wav files?
