Title: Costuming for the screening of Star Wars: Rogue One
Post by: Jeadus Teal on December 13, 2016, 10:02:39 PM
Who has or will be going in costume to Star Wars: Rogue One?

If so please post your photos here.

Last year my group went costuming for the screening of Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

Last years Midnight premiere- good guys and bad guys :D There was something like 70-80 of us including wranglers.

and just us good guys

I will be in my usual outfit. Hubby this year will also have a SWTOR outfit *madly rushes to finish it in time*

Sucks to be all yous.... our screening is tonight, 11 hours to go, only 9 hours til costuming starts! (but who's counting? ;D )

I was seriously considering going in costume, albeit that I'd be the only one in my family, but wasn't sure if I wanted to for this one, since it's kind of a different story without Jedi this time. So part of me says "just do it, it's Star Wars", and the other "logical" part of me, says "just go in a Star Wars T-shirt". If I end up going, I'll be sure to have my family take some pics of me.  8)

I will be going in my Dark Jedi costume for Rogue One. I will always lean towards "Just do it, it's Star Wars" when it comes to costuming for a new Star Wars movie. My friends feel the same way and it is great to go out as a group in costume. Going in a Star Wars shirt is still the way to go and look forward to seeing some photos of you at Rogue One.

Jedi Kermit brings back memories when Mark Hamill appeared in the Muppets TV show as Luke Skywalker. I guess Kermit had Jedi training as well.

I have to wait until Saturday to watch Rogue One. Looking forward to it.

I live in the wrong place. Our biggest theater here is an Imax, but only 3 people had costumes. 5 if you count the guys wearing Star Wars pajamas like they were being ironic. First time I ever wore a costume to a movie. First time seeing opening night of any movie. Where's all the costumes like I saw on the news for TFA last year? I thought I was going to be among my people.

Two people not in costume wanted pictures with the 3 of us in costume. Shoulda charged a buck.  :P

Today is the big day for Rogue One. I have a friend that will be taking photos for us using a 3D camera while we are in costume at the cinema and surrounding area. I will be posting photos when available.

We are walking from our meeting place to the cinema which takes around 5 minutes. It may take 3 times as long to get there depending on how many times we stop along the way to take photos with people.

Looking forward to this movie and I won't post spoilers.

Went and saw Rogue One last night, and I was DELIGHTED by this movie. There are some scenes that I can't wait to see over and over again.

Here are some pics in the lobby of the theater with my son and I and a certain scout trooper we captured...

Thanks Lord Bladewraith. Yeah wearing a cloak can be a little too warm whilst costuming in any weather. It was good to see your complete Jedi costume. Point to you good sir.

Oh, same here. I've seen it twice now, and MUST go see it a third time on Monday in Laser Projection while it's available here for a limited time. It's supposed to be just gorgeous on the screen.

another +1 incoming for more great photos there.

Excellent photos standing in front of the Rogue One signage B1ondeange1 and great group photo. We could not take a photo in front of the Rogue One posters as the cinema had posted them high up. We do have a couple of good photos taken outside with the group standing in front of the Imax Rogue One poster. It was taken in 3D and it will be a few weeks before it is available to post.

Well done and I like this photo the most. Point for you.

Those photos are awesome bigBear. You would be surprised of how many people appreciated seeing Star Wars fans show up in costume for the movie. We got out of the cinema and someone asked if they could take a photo with us. The next moment everyone was jumping in to take photos. Great job once again and very impressed.  :)

IMAX here said no blasters and full face covering masks. I asked how it was decided. They don't want other customers freaking out when they think they see a gun. Of the 5 people I saw in costume, two wore Vader's full face covering masks.

A different theater here said no lightsabers. They don't want people swinging fighting in a crowd.

After the movie, I was spinning in an empty hallway.

I contacted the cinema in person before arranging a group book to see Star Wars: TFA. I explained clearly to the manager on what items and costumes my group would be bringing along. We asked if we could take photos of our group inside the cinema prior to the movie commencing. Thankfully we got the green light to actively troop while there. The cinema was happy for us to be there as long as we were not trying to promote the movie on behalf of Disney. We also did not troop officially as a club. Just as friends getting together and dressing up for the movie.

When we went along to the cinema to see Rogue One we were never asked not to use our lightsabers and replica guns. We did our very best to not block the flow of traffic going in and out of the cinema. We also had no problems in taking photos in the cinema as well as people asking to have there photos taken with our group.

Every major cinema I know had people showing up in Star Wars costumes just to go and watch Rogue One.

I hope you guys do get a chance to wear your costumes and being able to take photos at the cinema.

So awesome! I wish I lived in a bigger city. Cold Lake is so small and doesn't do this sort of thing. The closest "big city" is Edmonton and thats 4 hours away.

One of these days we'll get dressed up for a movie premiere. :)

wouldn't call my area a "big city" hardly a building larger than 3 stories. exception of Hospital, court house maybe 2 apartment complexes.

Fair enough. Either way, we're kind of out in the boonies. Our theater is an old cinema that hasn't been updated since forever. I miss my Famous Players.

Either way, there isn't much of a nerd population here, so this type of thing rarely happens here.

Either way your costume looks great even if you don't get a chance to wear it to Rogue One.

My friend posted up some really nice photos of our Rogue One movie outing today. Hopefully I will post some more as he adds them.  :)
