Title: Show ME Your Customized Standard Battle Sabers!!
Post by: doomblade0 on January 11, 2017, 02:04:13 AM
I recently got a standard battle issue saber in a grab bag, and I am new to this saber scene, so I wanted to see what some people have done with their sabers, and wow people have done some amazing stuff. I haven't seen any however where people are changing the standard issues sabers...probably because no one buys them by choice(no offense by this, it's just a very simple blade). I want to do something to mine to make it different, and wanted some possible inspiration. Thanks guys!

Lots of people buy them by choice, it's a very popular saber.  (I plan to get one eventually)  In fact, they were sold out for the longest time.  Lots of people keep them as they come, because they are excellent dueling sabers with no major hilt details to bother or distract you.  There are a number of people who customize them.  A lot of people like to use that hilt as the base for a Rahm Kota style saber.

Oh! My apologies, I didn't know it was so popular! I don't think it looks bad, it is just a bit plain for my tastes, so I was curious what people have done with it, and what I could do.

There's nothing to apologize for, it is a very plain hilt.  That's why it's a battle saber.  Battle swords throughout history have typically been very plain.  After all, you don't have to look your best in combat.  Swords with more ornate hilts are typically more ceremonial in purpose.  Of course, lightsabers aren't swords, so this is different.  But, the principle is the same.  The Standard Issue is designed more along the lines of a no frills battle sword.  Though, you can always add stuff to yours to make it more ornate.  It's a blank canvas, waiting for your to do your thing.  :)

Here are a few things I found by doing an advanced search for Standard Issue in the customization sub forum:

Anyway, those are just a few.  As I said, the options are limitless with that hilt.  You can always do an advanced search yourself and see what else is in that area of the forum for the SI.  :)
