Title: "Sith" Font updated?
Post by: Darth Blightus on April 04, 2017, 02:18:38 AM
i watched emory's videos on the diamond controller
while watching the video where he demonstrates the different soundfonts-as he switches to the "sith" setting-i noticed something.
the boot up sound -usually just the activation sound-added the word "sith" to it
did they update that?

I just got a new saber today. I will have to check if my sith font says that.

Yes, the Sith boot sound now has the word "sith" in it. Since the boot sounds are used as tags in the font selection menu, and Sith was the only font that didn't explicitly say the name, we figured it would be easier this way.
But if you don't like it... you can change it any time!

Marius.

Hopefully Marius with chime in.  I have tried my best to get it to load to the Obsidian sound board with no luck at all. I doesn't seem to be able to read it.

There is a way. A little tricky, but it definitely works. Here's how it goes:
- go to the Font Wizard and select the Sith font
- go to the Tag effect and open it in the Effect Editor (click on "Edit Effect")
- save this effect; a .PEFF file will be generated
- now, the trick: PEFF is actually a ZIP file. We packaged all the files contained by an effect into a ZIP archive in order to make the effects easier to share. But PEFF is just an ordinary ZIP. If you change the file extension from PEFF to ZIP, you can open it with WinZip (or whatever archive software you use) and there you'll find "sh_tag.wav". Extract this WAV from the archive and you can use it with Obsidian.

Well that's a very neat bit of information. I'll keep that in mind when working with fonts. Thanks!

Sounds like the Diamond launcher. Apparently you can install that even without the Diamond Controller, but you'd just have to reinstall it if you got a controller

I understand how to save the file. I also know how to convert the Zip file. What I don't understand is how to change it from PEFF to Zip? Thanks Marius!

There is no "Obsidian Launcher" and "Diamond Launcher", there is a single "Ultrasabers Launcher" that handles all boards. The latest version controls Diamond and everything else, while the older versions only control Obsidian and Emerald. So, to answer your questions, the WAV extraction process that I previously detailed is for the latest version of the Launcher.

Anyway: I extracted the Sith boot sound for you, here it is: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B8lnjnV_xxP5MU40cVczUlotQ3c/view?usp=sharing

So I took that link Marius just provided ( Thanks Marius ) and added a Sith Voice to it. I didn't really hear anything like Sith in the boot.  So I made one.  Just because I think it's a cool idea.
Here's the link. If you want something different let me know.

There are actually two boots, one say's " The Sith" and the other says just " Sith"  they are both close to the same.

well thats how i distinguish them. so i used poor words
and its not like you can update the old launcher for the diamond. youll need to reinstall a completely new one.
im too lazy for that
but a big thanks for the trouble you went through Marius and jediseth

In a few days, the new Launcher will be available as an update. We just completed the driver signing process, which was the only thing that prevented us to distribute the latest version through the update system.

Thank you once again JS! I like the font a lot, but this was the thing i also though was missing. Since I have the V4 and not the diamond I was wondering if anyone in the thread would make this. Low and behold! Here you are for the win!

Light side points awarded!  ;D
