With Photobucket taking a turn and charging for their picture hosting I thought I'd make a replacement thread for those unfamiliar with imgur.com and their hosting service.

I won't be going into making a profile on imgur, for that you'll have to do a little research. In this thread I'm just going with the quick and simple upload option.



1) Go to imgur and click the "New Post" option in the upper left corner and select "Upload Images"

2) Click on "Browse" to select and open the image(s) you want to upload.

3) From there your image will upload and you will need to right click it and select "Copy Image Address" or something similar depending on your browser.

4) Place the link in your post where you would like the image to appear and highlight it. Click the insert image icon on the forum tool bar.

It's as simple as that, from there your images should show up on the forum without issue.
I'm not sure how simple this is to do via mobile so keep in mind you may need to do a little experimenting if you're not working at a laptop or desktop.
It's important to note you can't re access the images you post without a link if you don't set up an account - but that's optional.

Mobile version of imgur is way different, as any imgurian will tell you(desktop vs app user war)

So, for now, I'm stuck not posting anything. All it will do is display the link address, and that's annoying and don't want anyone clicking on it and all that, so blah. Love imgur though for all it's hilarious content

i know how to set profile pic with imgur. its a bit tricky though

it involves using a pic thats been already posted using Drahcir's above method.

1) go to that post and click on either Quote or Modify
2) highlight and copy the imgur URL but ONLY starting at the http://
3) go to your profile settings and paste it on the bar next to "i have my own pic"
4) select "change profile"

I've been trying to figure this out but every time I paste the link into the profile area of the forum, the photo will never actually appear. Can someone help out?

as your profile pic.  Is that what you meant or did you mean a photo down in the signature area, below your post?

Hey DB! Thanks for posting this. I spent a good amount of time in the last few days trying to get it to work, just using the Imgur method. Happy I stumbled upon your reply! thanks!

Nope. I use it and I use gmail. I think tumblr or one of the other ones needs a yahoo account.

Okay I have been trying to do this for my profile pic but I put the link where I'm supposed to then the picture will show up where it should be but when I select change profile it disappears. I am using my phone If that helps

The problem with Dropbox is that the moment you move the file or delete it on your end, that will kill the link.

I've been fighting with the mobile version as well, not exactly the most tech savvy unfortunately. Best of luck to you and if you figure out an easier way, let a brother know and I'll do the same.

So after spending way too much time to figure out how to insert images, I finally found this thread, not until after I figure it out but oh well, will just look harder next time lol.

One thing to note, if you are using Imgur on desktop, if you click on the image you want to link to they actually have a listing of all of the different ways to link the images and 1 of them is BBCode, click the copy button and simply paste it into the thread, see the image below. Might be old news but something I thought was a helpful feature.

Pic removed...just a test after all. Still haven't figured out why my avatar won't stick...or how to delete a post...

You just need to right click on the actual image. In this case, that image being your Adegan Silver saber. Come back over to the forum. Ready to paste your image? Click the second icon from the left on the bottom of the two rows. Then paste. Easy peasy.

Uh, is imgur down at the moment? I go to upload a new pic but some Scooby Doo looking thing comes up instead, wondering if its just me x.x
