Doesn't look to be an easy build, but should look excellent when done

Thanks. i want to make the ghost version that appears before Yoda on korriban.

I think i may have to burn the robes to make them looked singed, ButnI'm not sure how i will make the costume glow with leds and make it look like its transparent yet on fire. Any suggestions?

I think I may get a silicone Fx mask to wear underneath the helmet. If you see in the Clone Wars Concept art, his human neck is exposed but it looks either aged or rotting.

Maybe something like this?

I think i'll also get these zombie sleeves for his exposed hands and flesh.

Actual fire is typically simulated through LEDs and lights from what I've seen through cosplay over the years. To make it look like Bane in the series would be a daunting task for even a movie studio with a prop department at their disposal, and then in the end CGI would probably be used for all the actual fire effects.

That being said, I found this video for you:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q6dkymtMvBw

Also this one, it's a kit for a flame ball for your hand but you can see the effect of LEDs under paper and how cool it looks:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M0IGkVMoZzE

Hope that gives you some ideas. Bane is more or less covered in not only flame but mostly burning embers. Short of an intricate LED system under your outfit I don't think there is any way to really pull that off.

I think I just found an inspiration for the smoldering fire around Darth Bane's body:

Just as I'm making this post you found it, haha. How to make it is below. They need a power source but this is pretty much the effect you are looking for:

http://www.instructables.com/id/Burning-Embers-Halloween-prop/

Spray foam insulation is like something from an alien planet as it is messy and expands like an alien creature but as far as texture goes it is very unique. Using this method would probably require you to make some kind of armor (like thin EVA foam) then put the lights on top and spray a little spray foam on top of the lights. As far as a power source for the lights that is a bit out of my league.

I also think I'll try to get this pattern on the tunic/robe so it looks like I'm on fire, (for a start).

Maybe the power sources could be those red led boxes on the side of his belt. also, this might be a good idea to try. Thanks.  ;D

My pleasure, yeah the power for it is going to be the toughest thing to work out me thinks. Definitely something that will take some tinkering. Best of luck with it, I can't imagine there are too many Darth Bane costumes out there so you'll be trailblazing.

That looks both daunting and impressive DV^^  Sounds like you've got a good start though  :)

If I may suggest: for the armor you might want to talk with Therion Jinn; he's displayed some downright awesome armor and I am sure could provide some useful info\advice.

This looks interesting; good luck  :D

I'm a pretty dedicated cosplayer, but you wouldn't catch me dead wearing silicone arms and a mask with armor on top of it.  That sounds like one of the circles of hell I'm destined for.

Looks like you're planning this out fairly well, but it's gonna be HOT inside that suit

I think I'll focus on making a non-ghost version of the costume first, then have the LED Flame pieces as an added on effect/ snap on armor pieces. The hardest pieces will definately be constructing that helmet:

and making an exact replica of his lightsaber pike. I think I found a perfect matching blade here:

THAT IS AWESOME! Can they do a lightning effect?

I just found a perfect near replica of Darth Bane's Breast Plate. I just have to spray paint it a dark gray and cut some new etches into it to match the concept art reference picture:

Will be fallowing this one for sure :P I don't remember him having a lightsaber pike though. And just remember those blades are for display only and no dueling at all so

That helmet looks like a prime candidate for EVA foam construction, it has the right lines and thickness that mostly all EVA foam has already, or that can be achieved.

It was on a character sheet from a behind the scenes thing, the Picture DV posted is official imagery.
