Definitely looks good. And using the tape certainly beats trying to sand down the black coat

Actually looks really good. I like how reflective the tape is. Did you have any problems keeping it from wrinkling or ripping? My experience with the stuff usually ends it ripped or wrinkled.

I did have some problems with the tape wrinkling. The picture is my seconded attempt and I'm still not 100% happy with it and will make a thrid attempt. You just have to be real careful. I may go with a different material that I found in a crafts store.

Thanks guys!

Nice looking, good way break up the all black look.  Try using adhesive chrome detail tape for an automobile. It does wrinkle so easily and its inexpensive. Maybe $5 USD at an autoparts store like Autozone.  Good Job!

Thanks for the tip. I'll look into autozone as well as CAP.

Updated the saber. I took the aluminum duct tape off and used an aluminum adhesive paper I found in Michael's. They also have it at AC Moore. It's works much better and is easier to put on without wrinkling. The next step is the red grips.

Not quite as reflective as the first one, but still looks great.

I went with a color closer tot he silver on the pommel, which isn't very reflective. I feel that it looks more realistic than the reflective tape. Thank you.  ;D

I like this much better!  The satin finish is more "industrial"...  Feels more ... real.  :-)  And red grips?  That I am excited to see!  :-)

The red grips are a little rough looking, but I kind of like it that way. It's hard to cut rubber the way you want. I;m still not finished with this hilt, but the next step might be a pain so I'm going to take a break and work on my costume now. Thanks to you all for the positive comments.

Yeah I actually personally like the sort of beat up look to the grips, and I also like the satin finish from the tape sections, that's my guitar side talking though, i like satin finished guitars so :P

I think the beat up look is the way to go with a lightsaber.
