Title: Then and now Post by: Samhain138 on November 13, 2017, 04:58:43 PM So I dug through my oldest videos and thought it would be neat to show my progression in that respect. This was a suggestion Ryan made to me, and I don't know if this is what he meant, but I think I covered everything here best I can.
This is the oldest video of me spinning a lightsaber. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CW5_rysIECY This is my most recent outing with a staff http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j7Wum8ofhBk This is my oldest single saber video of me practicing aerials http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pufR2j0Vqgw This is my most recent single saber video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4mZW9Azlp_4 Title: Re: Then and now Post by: Samhain138 on November 13, 2017, 05:00:30 PM For bonus points...
My first cross guard video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E3d5f2CWEDs My most recent http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zXfMqjmqhWE Title: Re: Then and now Post by: Samhain138 on November 13, 2017, 05:28:48 PM Hell, while we're at it, I'll share what I felt like were 3 videos that sum up progression.
At this point I knew the moves, I was just really struggling to put them together. It's not a pretty video but you can see I'm trying hard to understand how to free style http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PaOeF6sRsmA Here you can see I've really started to smooth things out. Everything I posted from this point on looked much better, at least in my opinion. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6QqYbjgrMY0 I did this back in June, and I feel it really showcases what I was working towards. I'd say a little while after this I started focusing on staff and dual wield and then my skills with a single saber went up exponentially. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=emydMGRDJJo I am never content in what I've learned. I am always trying new things. Its just like any skill, you have to find motivation and go work hard to learn it. Helping and teachings been my favorite part of all this and I hope maybe I'll keep inspiring some people along the way. Title: Re: Then and now Post by: Master Resolute on November 13, 2017, 07:22:23 PM It's always good to see someone else go through the " Growing Pains " of training and trying something new. You've come a long way! Keep at it! Good progression set.
Title: Re: Then and now Post by: Pink Ego on November 14, 2017, 09:57:51 PM Cool videos, your progression is strong. I like the old vs. new skills idea, I’m going to do this also it will help me track my progress.
Title: Re: Then and now Post by: Taegin Roan on November 15, 2017, 05:48:39 AM It is really cool to see your progression. I can actually see the difference. At first your had quite a bit of speed, but your execution of the moves was not as nice as later on. Now you have more moves, more speed, and better execution. Well done.
This is my most recent outing with a staff http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j7Wum8ofhBk At (I think) about 29 seconds in this video, you start to do a move where you alternate spinning on both sides of your body, and you have multiple complete circles before switching sides again. Do you think you (or someone else reading this) could do an instructional vid (or link me to one) on how to do this move? I have been trying to figure it out, but I can't get it. Thanks. Here, I tried my best to explain the move. Please keep in mind I am left handed and I forgot to mention that in the video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bhZfTyXWbc8&feature=youtu.be Title: Re: Then and now Post by: Taegin Roan on November 15, 2017, 08:22:13 PM Here, I tried my best to explain the move. Watching it being done in the dark, I couldn't tell what I needed to do in order to get it to work, but after seeing this, and seeing how simple it is, I think I can figure it out. Definitely helped.
