Title: 'Durin's Lance'-Another custom build Post by: Therion Jinn on April 01, 2018, 02:33:45 AM Next up on the bench is another custom lightsaber build.
This one started life as an Ultrasabers 'Catalyst' that I picked up in a trade (http://i.imgur.com/Zqg4QE8.jpg) Picked up a new emitter and pommel for this one from TCSS, and I'll also be using the leftover sleeve material from the 'Therion's Fire' build -here are the parts and a mockup of the hilt (http://i.imgur.com/6dSQUj7.jpg) (http://i.imgur.com/q2L01Eh.jpg) I gave all of the parts a light sanding to prepare for the next step. Masked off the grip section and painted it up in transparent red. The raised sections will later be sanded for more weathering (http://i.imgur.com/nJqi0wk.jpg) Bothe the new emitter and new pommel were given a coat of flat black. I also gave the sleeve a coat of flat black followed by a coat of bronze/copper (http://i.imgur.com/wFDrZ4o.jpg) Using my Dremel, I cut grooves in the sleeve material that I then weathered with aluminum black along with the rest of the saber. The grips were given two coats of aluminum black to make them darker. The emitter and pommel were weathered with sanding screen. I've personally seen sabers that would blow you away. Way out of my league at least. :P Therion is quite adept though. I see no "trainwrecks" here. ;) Great creative vision too - that's huge. Not to sidetrack your thread Therion, but you know who is getting rather "masterful" at this? JediSeth. He went and got an actual lathe though, and is machining his own parts. You ought to check out his latest work... A bit more violent than what were probably used to though :P I kind of want to mod a saber to look like Saber's sword, her weapon always looked cool :P Basically their version of King Arthur just a woman for some reason. Good plot for once too which is why I liked all 3 versions. Anyway, I can't really think of any other custom saber to do myself though x.x Have an idea for a custom Arbiter but the led is in the main body so might be kinda hard to do. Was wanting dark body, silver emitter and Manticore low pommel if that ever comes back in stock. I know not really much to do but it works :P
