Title: Lightsaber Hilt
Post by: Dr. Lobster on April 16, 2018, 10:51:05 AM
Is there a lightsaber hilt not like the ones that you can get from UltraSabers but ones that go on your back so you don't have to take your blade out

Interesting idea Doctor. It's not he hilt that needs to be different as much as what holds it.

Somebody here on the forums had a setup where they attached two sabers to the back in a Deadpool-style pattern, but I can't remember the name of the thread  (if it even was a thread, could have been just a shared picture) or how one would even use the search engine to locate it. Covertec wheels can be very handy here because when used with a Covertec clip you can attach it a ton of different ways, including straps going across your back.

Yep that's how I carry mine at comicpalooza.  Use a belt strapped diagonally across my chest and shoulder then put the covertech clip on the back and connect my saber with blade and all on it so that it hangs off my back.  Only thing is I have to put it on over the robe.

Out of curiosity, do you situate the Covertec clip so that you can reach back with one hand and unclip it? I'm sure it's a bit of an awkward angle.

I put it on my back left shoulder blade area.  But since the clip locks onto the covertech wheel, I have to use two hands.  My right to reach back squeeze the clip to release the wheel and my left hand on the saber hilt to pull it out afterwards.

Very cool, thanks!

If its short enough, how about carrying it like an officer's sword or something so you feel old fashioned at the same time? :P Would that be possible at all?

it is possible, I steal my brothers 24" blade and do it with my prophecy all the time, it looks pretty dope.

Just my two cents.
Have yet to get to a con, but my gear is getting close to completion.

What I did for carrying my blade when not attached to my US saber. I made a staff looking tube, with a strap the Ethereal design sells for her Rey staff, had it done a black leather strap, but getting a standard version to go with my color scheme (the one in pic is picture of my gear in infancy)
I found a piece of secondary hand rail for vinyl railing at the lumber yard I work at. Cut to length. The top is from a nuematic gun and the base is from the US Lost Gray (changed mine out). Painted it a Terratone color from Andersen windows. Made felt sock to put inside to protect the blade when I'm carring it around. The strap easily spins and I can take the blade out and attach. In my pouches I have several allen wrenches (always seem to be dropping them).

Down side I would need a moment to attcach my blade before engaging in picture taking or dueling.
