Just watched both your vids and I recon you are doing well. I think I even saw a couple of Reverse Obi-Ani moves sneakily added in. I tried that move after watching Darth Cephalus do it and I put my shoulder out!

The lesson I learned from that?  Always warm up properly!

Thank you everyone for the positive feedback. After spinning for months, Master Elwood got my figure eights looking smoother and better within one session.  I owe it all to him and can’t wait to learn more from him.

It’s all due to Master Elwood’s training and recommendations. I’ve been spinning for months and my figure eights were sloppy until Master Elwood suggested some adjustments and within one video session, the improvements were noticeable even to myself.

I practiced for months and everything just looked sloppy until you came into the picture so much appreciation to your teachings my Master!


Hey there Tyeth. Thank you for your kind words as well. When I first started, I asked Master Elwood for a few tips and he mentioned started off slowly until I get my form right, speed will come later. This was months ago and even before my first video.  I have been focusing on form and keeping my speed slow because of that. Once Master Elwood and I started our training, it was easy for me to work certain issues I had since I started off with a good foundation laid out by Master Elwood.

Another tip would be to follow the tip of your blade as it travels around the orbit then, when the blade passes behind you can focus on the pommel to maintain awareness of the position of the blade. (This is because the pommel is 180 degress opposite the blade, so the blade will move in mirror fashion to the pommel)

Oh it won't be anything epic as it is a local con. I also don't have any Jedi threads to wear as I'm a bit stretched financially atm (looking after family etc).

I imagine most of the time I'll be available for the Padawans attending to try out their sabers against mine or borrowing mine for their photo opportunities!

I've always said I love seeing peoples progression documented. Whether it's someone tightening up a figure eight or working on an angel roll, I always learn something.
Everyday you're getting noticeably, WAY better. And it makes me realize I need to step it up. I'm analyzing my technique again. I was getting lazy. Like Master Resolute says, (I'm paraphrasing here) "always go back to the basics."


Master Elwood, Just a thought, but do you think hand switches should be introduced next? Seems logical to me, but what do I know? ;)

I've noticed you like that Dark Initiate for spinning. I take it the windows don't bother your hand?

Quite honestly, it was you and Master Elwood that put spinning on my radar and once I got into it with the right direction and instructions, it just got addicting.  Believe it or not, 80% of my flow spins aren’t recorded and of the 20% that I do, are mostly to check for and see if I’m doing it right but mainly to have Master Elwood view and help me adjust my form accordingly.

Someone also told me to keep a record of your progression so that you’ll know how far you’ll come and also to catch any errors you normally wouldn’t catch while spinning.   ;)

Master Elwood did mention hand switches so it’s funny that you mentioned it


And I’m honored to be your padawan, Master Elwood.   :D I’m motivated and look to perfect my craft with your guidance.  I look forward to the next steps that you’ve mentioned


Thank you SFD! That means a lot. Believe it or not, I prefer the Aeon and Dominix but only one if my Aeons can mute it’s sound while my other one and Dominix cannot, so I use the Dark Initiate which is just the same only shorter.  The windows did eat up the skin between my thumb and index finger but it did callus on both hands over time so it doesn’t hurt anymore.

I've never liked spinning my Initiate (even when it had electronics) due to the windows, not even after I got a 24" blade for it. I like my Aeon and Dominix because they don't have windows.

Believe it or not, you will get used to it it will have grow callus to accommodate the Windows

Thanks DPM! You should, it’s good for combat and spinning. My sensei in martial arts say its good to have balance between your dominant and non dominant sides. The Masters teach and promote that for spins as well.  Record some videos and share it when you do please

Master Venturous was where I finally really "got it" though.  An art I've let go for now unfortunately...

I'm glad that you said that, Darth Cephalus's training videos are what got me going with my spins.  Shout outs to him and kudos for posting all of those training videos.  Til this day, I still visit those to look at and practice with. 

Samhain is a master at the staff and his saber flow videos are always on point leaving me in awe, the most impressive part is that he can do everything you see him in the videos dressed down, in costume.  I have spoken to him and will hopefully have the honor to train and learn from him as well.  Now, his contact staff and pyro spin videos are on a different realm of it's own.  I don't think he's even human at this point.

Honestly, Master Venturous' stuff are killer like Master Resolute.  I haven't dabbled into their world yet but Master Elwood has been kind enough to offer me training and is currently giving me training and direction.   

I do hope that you get back into the flow of things, my whole point of my thread is to keep track of my progress and to help motivate members to continue with their spins and working with their non-dominant hand more often. 

I will try my take in the SpinWars 2018 but I'm no competition to the likes of Master Venturous, Resolute or Elwood.  I'm going to do it for fun of course and with some new instructions from Master Elwood, I should have some really good videos to offer Darth Cephalus.

So I noticed that my batteries are dimming even though I replaced  them on Monday.  I do spin multiple times a day and 80% of those times, they aren't being recorded.  After replacing them last night so that I can work on tightening up my form, the difference in the brightness and color are really noticeable.

Than you DPM.  My senseis in martial arts has always taught me to use both hands for balance and for martial arts and combat training in the Marines, we focused on using both sides as well.  Thank you for your kind words, I actively start with my non-dominant hand (left) and will switch between the two but my focus is to use more of my non-dominant side.  I appreciate you checking out my thread and videos!


Thanks, DS!  I've been actively starting my spins with it first and foremost.  There are times when I just stand there and do a downward wheel for minutes then reverse it into an upward wheel on my left.

You should start chaining drills together. I don't think you would have too much difficulty.

Hey Deca!  Yes, I'm so addicted to the art of flow spinning now.  I wanted to showcase my saber after replacing the batteries twice on it, how bright it is.  (I spin a lot so I replace batteries once or twice a week).  I'm glad that I can help motivate you to use your non-dominate hand, it will help in the long run and will make switching sides during your spins much smoother giving you the ability to perform moves on both hands.  3 hours? Whoa, keep up the good work and you're welcome! My whole point of my thread is to keep track of my progress and to help motivate people and get them involved!



Thank you for checking out my videos, Master Resolute.  It's quite and honor and a goal of mine :)  My Sensei has taught me to always keep my other hand at my center line of my chest if I'm not using it for defense or to block my face so I always make note of doing so.  Hearing that from you makes me love this section and forum even more since quite a bit of people practice that which speaks highly of their martial arts background to me.  

I'm working on hand switches now so that I can start chaining drills together, hopefully soon but I'm taking my time as I want to "perfect" these forms and moves before moving onto the next lesson.

Looking good there, Deca. I like your Eclipses, keep them up and work on tightening up. What works for me is to start my moves slowly until muscle memory takes over and if I can, I will speed up as long as it doesn't compromise my form.  Speed will come, it just take patience but I'm no Master and just a learner.  I would ask the Masters and Spin Veterans these questions.

AKA...Early morning dedication. One thing I would suggest to you though is to take your practice outside or to a place that doesn't confine you in any way. Having walls or a ceiling too close will inadvertently train you to compromise your technique in order to not hit them. Simply, it trains poor technique. Being somewhere where you having plenty of space will allow you to train the full movement the way it should be so you don't have to inhibit yourself at all.

And also, I don't know if you've seen the video I did on a trick to learning the eclipse and reverse eclipse (aka the obi-ani), but it might help you with those moves as well.

Looking great, bro. You're getting there with those transitions. You kept the saber moving the whole time and you were stringing together different spins nicely. :)

Thank you for the tips, Master Venturous.  I have plan to start spinning in my back yard and will get a set up arranged. I just have to clear some grassy area as my skin is allergic to it and you're right, the limited space will give me bad form.  I have not seen your video but will check it out as once I get into work in the AM (getting ready for bed as I type).  Thanks again and I appreciate any and every tips, criticism, and pointers that you're willing to give.   :D



Thank you, SFD to always checking out my videos.  I admit that it does take some liking and interest into sticking with spinning since it's not super easy but easy to get down the basics and with practice, you can learn the more intricate moves and transitions. 

I really love this art and side of the saber (I'm still going to build and customized sabers as well, that will never go away) and it's now a part of me.  That's how I started my love for spinning was to pick up my saber for 5 to 10 minutes at a time. 



Here's a last video for the night.  I dropped my Dark Initiate V4 on tile floor which broke the battery holder.  I super glued it but leaving it alone over night for it to cure and it's still usable but the battery holder needs to be replaced.  I planned on installing a Lit-Ion set up any how so it's out of commission for the time being.  I picked up my saber and disabled all of the sound on the Obsidian V3 so that I can practice in silence.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, the video Master Venturous posted is the best I've seen for really tightening up   
the standard and reverse/inverted Eclipse. His no eclipse challenge entry is still my main source of inspiration though. ;)

Wish I had enough space in my appartment to do some inside spinning. As it is now it's getting too cold outside to enjoy a spinning session and I only have the possibility to develop my skills once a week in my Lightsaber class (in which I don't have time to practice spinning). I'll have to try to find a place inside where I can practice...Maybe I can ask a friend if they have space or find other people so we could invest together into a place to practice (though finances are not exactly at their best right now...)

Thanks, Darth Silenoz!  One of the many reasons of creating my own thread was to help inspire those members to spin more and get comfortable.  I checked out Master Venturous' video and his tip and trick to help tighten up really works. I've been practicing it this morning and can see that it's much better.

Thank you, Crue!  I appreciate you visiting this thread and viewing my videos.  I understand not having the correct amount of space. My house has low ceilings and with a 5 year old, space is a bit restricted that I have to move a few things around myself.  Master Venturous and Master Elwood has both recommend me spinning outside which I am currently prepping my back yard to do so (cut down the grass and clear a section since my skin is allergic to it).  I understand you not being able to practice outside since it's cold where you are and having a place with space until you're living there, can be costly so it's understandable.  Just practice when you can as much as you can.  The basic moves can be done inside but the more advance moves and when you're trying to add transitions will need the space.

Grab a saber and just work on it, you don't have to throw in hours after hours. Do it in spurts, 5 to 10 minutes here and there throughout the day.

I'd stop working to spin sabers during my shift at work, but I'm pretty sure I'd get in trouble. In fact, they'd probably view it as a weapon and fire me for that. Not to mention the awkward bus ride with an Ultrasaber, which doesn't slip into normal sized bags so easily. :P

By the way, I don't know what you were listening to during that last video, but I was listening to Metallica (The Unforgiven.) It went nicely with the spinning. :)

Can't spin at work either. But I got the bag covered. I used the cotton bag for my Katana as an exemple and made my own. I adapted size since my Ultrasabers are longer than my Katana and I made it out of artifical leather so it would be better protected in case of heavy reain when I go to my Lightsaber class.

I now realize I forgot to mention I also added a strap so I can hold the saber on my back while ridding the bus/subway and walking. I made that one out of seat belt material to make it resistant.
Next goal is making another bag based on the first that will be able to hold more sabers (maybe 4 or so) in order to carry a few to conventions more easily.

That idea is genius, Crue! I will have to adopt that when carrying my saber to and from work.

Thanks, Deca!  I keep my mistakes in since we all make mistakes and it's to also show my progress as well.  You can't learn from a video without any mistakes in my opinion so don't worry about dropping your War Glaive, which I'm sure you don't.  We all make mistakes and learn from them. 

I have a personal quote that I abide by "Mistakes will make you great".

I don't worry about dropping my War Glaive,  its got spinning scars all over it!! U know me,  ill just wrap it in electrical tape,  and call it good!!  Lol.

Looking a lot better there, especially with the reverse eclipse. If I may offer one more tip though, I would spend one practice session slowing things down a bit and work on keeping the blade in the same plane as your body, both in front and in back. It seems from time to time the blade wants to go more perpendicular to your body, pointing more at the camera if that makes sense. By keeping the blade moving within the same plane as your body, that will in turn make things look tighter and smoother in your spins.

I went back to my Dark Initiate since my SI tore my hands up.  I haven't replaced the battery case yet since I'm ordering a Lit-Ion set up and a chassis for it but I Velcro the broken case horizontally and vertically so that it's "pieced together" temporarily AND it's no longer rattling. 

I know I haven’t posted in a few days. Was busy Friday and was watching the Padawan all day u til I got tired late this afternoon since we both stayed up late and woke up early and I let Mrs. Infinit01 take a nap midday. Anyhow, will post more vids again tomorrow

Yesterday was nice for the season but I was too exhausted after work to go out for even a short spinning session.

Thanks, Crue.  Just give it a few minutes here and there throughout the day if you can. They add up. When I get frustrated with not getting down a move, I stop for a bit and then try again which helps to clear my mind. Get some spinning in when you can, that's what I always tell myself.  If you can only do it for a short period of time, still do it.

Video 49 - Reverse Grip to a Flourish.

You know I love all your videos, but that one was extra smooth to me. I can see it all coming together. I think that was the most precise and most effortless I've seen you. When you do downward wield figure eights your forearm stays at 90 degrees from your body and your upward wield is right at shoulder height just like the front flourish. I don't know what Sam or other Master Level spinners would say about any of that, but it jumped out at me as making it look tighter and grabbing my attention more than usual. You've been putting in serious work and it shows.
I'm sure getting help from Sam doesn't hurt at all either. ;)

After dropping my saber from spinning, this is what happened to the battery case when I tried to replace the batteries this morning.  So moving forward, I will spin without the saber being on until I can replace it.  Going to go the Lit-Ion route anyhow so this is just a push for me to do so.

Just caught up on this thread, and I must say, I'm impressed. You can definitely see an improvement from the first vids to the last. So much so that I can see your own personal style beginning to develop. Very cool. I also have to say, your reverse eclipse spins are insanely clean. Whenever I do them they just feel wonky.

Hey there, Taegin!  Thank you for checking out my thread. I decided to make my own since I figured I wasn’t good enough to be in the spin zone. Plus, I wanted to keep track of my progress and promotemore spinning.

Thank you for following my videos and for your kind words. My style is mostly going to be Reverse Grip but with quite a bit of normal grips. I eventually want to get into the staff and dual wielding myself but of course, little steps first.

My tip is to keep practicing, repetition is the mother of all learning. I literally tried to do it slowly until I understood the motion and then take breaks in between to be able to process it and also have a clear mind to start again especially when I get frustrated with a move.

 I woke up, went to the gym, worked out, ran a few miles, came home and spun for a bit.  It was cold and windy so I didn't spin for very long since I was still drenched in sweat.


Since several members enjoyed my staff spinning, here's some more staff moves.  Also, it's the first thing that I spin from Samhain's recommendation that's got me doing the Reverse Grip Eclipse without thinking about it on my right hand.  I like spinning with the staff too, it feels really good to spin it and helps aide me with learning to be aware of both blades at all times

Pick up a saber and just spin whether it's 45 seconds or 15 minutes.  Get up, get out (or stay in) and just spin for a bit.  You don't have to over do it either, try spinning for a few minutes here and there throughout the day to get a feel for it.  I just want to see people spin and get into the groove.  Also, do share your videos!  ;D

Agreed, 55 isn't bad at all considering that we had 112 degrees as our hottest days several times this past summer. Geez, that's right, 55 is rather warm where you're from.  Kudos and more power to you for trooping through weather that most of us hardly experience, Taegin.

It really isn't that bad. Just dress appropriately and you'll be fine. You'll never see a more beautiful sight than that of an open field or valley covered in snow at 30 to 50 below.
It also isn't that cold right now, it's been between 10 and 20 this whole week.

I've always wanted to see snow, Texas' version of snow is about 1 to 3 inches which the northern states laugh at us.  10 to 20 isn't too bad either but 30 to 50 below, geez.

42°F is a little chilly yes.

My last spinning session it was 2°C (about 36°F). That's when I decided to take a membership in a gym so I could at least get some exercise inside. They have different places near me so I'll ask if they have some rooms less crowded with machines available sometimes so I could practice spinning but I'm not holding my breath.
The advantage is that this company has a dozen places in the area, one of which is only 2 min walk from my work and I could get a 30% discount as an employee of the local University hospital . They have arranged a contract for their employees to get discounts, and the club get's the advantage of being the one most of the 12'000 employees are likely to choose.

Still have a lot of catching up to do on your videos but I'll try as soon as I can.

You are showing a lot more confidence in your technique now, as evidenced in the fluidity of your spins. You're probably one of the most (if not the most) dedicated spinner on here. The sheer number of videos you upload showing your progress is remarkable and now the effort is showing. Well done.

I agree with Master V, Master E and SFD. Can really see the improvement. If you watch closely you can still see that you are more comfortable with your right hand, but you definitely have skills with your left. Very inspirational as always. :)

See, the spinning is great, but, I really like the looks on your face when you’re clearly displeased with a move! Totally relate!!!! I’m over critical about my technique, and I bet it’s obvious when I’m not satisfied with a move. You’re style is becoming deep with individuality, and is smoother on the daily brother!!

Awesomenezz my brother!!  Keep the momentum up!!! I've always practiced my spinning from time 2 time,  but sometimes I'm just worn out from work,  and literally don't have it in me!! Lately I've been spinning on a daily!!  I try 2 learn something new,  and then put time in before work and after to get a better feel and flow!! I usually have 10 min before work 2 practice,  and if I had a good flow and feel I step out the door feeling pretty satisfied,  but that doesn't happen everyday!! Alot of the times I leave dissatisfied about my skills,  which bothers me all day long!! During the day I'm thinking to myself I can't  wait to get 2 da crib 2 redeem myself!!!!

Thanks, Deca!  I noticed that you have been practicing lately which is great and what I'm promoting through my thread and videos.  I notice that you're progressing along quite nicely as each video, you're getting better and better. That's what it's all about and you're your worse critic. I know that I am, I have lots of videos that I just delete to save space but remember where I made a mistake or should of tighten up a specific move or sequence.  Get in some spins whenever you can, that's what I do.  Before work, during break, at home, after working out, traveling, etc.  Every little spin session counts and you can never do too little in my opinion.   

So I traveled out of town this past week and brought two sabers with me with the intention of spinning them as a staff but once I stopped at a rest stop to get a spin in, I realized that I left the coupler at home.  I did get some spins in minus one day but didn't do any staff spinning since last Sunday. So, I'm spinning the staff today

Looks good infinit01!!! Making the duel wield look easy!! I threw a little time in on that this week,  and it was tricky getting the feel for that!! Duel wield is tough on my mind with spinning being alternating and opposing!! Yeah, that's early. It's still dark outside.

I'm always at work at 0530 in the morning. I test my 5 conference rooms and then grab my saber for a few sessions.  It helps me start the day since I prefer to work out before work than after but given my time in, the saber works.

Heh, I'm at work at 5:30 too, but I'm about an hour and a half before time to go home by then. ;)

It's cool that you're able to take your sabers with you and do your thing before you get started. We all have those routines that get us going before work, and this is obviously one of yours.

I get to work between 5:30 and 7:15 depending on activities but I just can't do anything before that. I don't function that way. I much rather do something after work. We all have our habits  ;)

Another early bird, kudos!  Yup, it's a great source of meditation even though I'm moving about, my mind is clear.


Another early bird! I spin early before work and then when I'm off of work, I head to the gym every day.  On the weekends and on my days off, I head to the gym once I wake up which is 0430 to 0530

No, not an early bird. I work at night and sleep in the afternoon. I'm only up at 5:30 AM because I'm still up, not because I intentionally got up then. ;)

Your dedication is impressive. I simply can't find the will to wake up earlier to do anything BEFORE work. I guess the fact that I have nocturnal habits makes it better for me to do all my hobbies AFTER work,.
I try to go to the gym 2-3 times a week. Everyday is still a bit much for my taste.


My girlfriend is a nurse and when she works night shift she usually gets off between 7:30 and 8:00 am

I work from 10 PM to 7 AM. It's so much better than the shift I used to work, which was 2 PM to 11 PM. (ugh)

Understood,  I'm a gym and health nut and it's really addicting.  It also helps aide with stress and PTSD at times


I love working early in the AM myself so that I can have the rest of the day to myself and being able to get things done. 

I01...you’re getting better and better with those spins. I think a coupler to make a staff is in my future. I’m thinking using both would be a good thing for gaining better coordination. I have advanced a little, but have been too busy this month to spin as much as I like. Now I’m down with a blasted knee injury and light duties for the next week!!!

All of the Resident Masters and pros will tell you that dropping your saber is a form of learning.  My Taekwondo Master has told me the same thing so don't be afraid to drop it (not on purpose of course).

I actually like that you leave stuff like drops and you hitting your leg in there when you post these. Some people would edit that stuff out. But, it's a good reminder that nobody's perfect and that these sort of things happen. Though, I did wince every time that lovely saber hit the floor. ;)

Thanks SFD!  I leave my drops and me smacking myself or my surrounding to encourage unedited videos. If any claims to "never" drop their sabers then they don't really spin or aren't telling the truth.  All the Resident Masters will say the same and even in my martial arts study, my Masters will say that "dropping your weapon is just you learning.  No one is perfect, not even masters."

If it's any consolation, my Dark Initiate is now an empty and yes it has battle scars but to me, if a saber gets scares during spins and drops, it's even worse when it sees battle to a completely shinning saber isn't realistic.  But I also don't spin my Consular either since it's my most prized saber. I have cosplay and shelf queens and the sabers that I use for spinning which gets beats up and down but still holds strong.

Heh, I hardly spin. I do simple stuff compared to what you and others do, and I drop my sabers from time to time. Anyone who claims to not drop theirs is full of bantha crap.

I only reason I winced with the DA being dropped is because of the anodizing. But then, US anodizing is really strong. Scratches in general I don't worry about. I scratch my hilts just doing installs. I don't mean to, but it happens. (yes, I've even scratched anodizing) Aluminum is a soft metal. But, it's perfect for these sabers since it's light weight and less likely to corrode.

I swear some of y'all would have a heart attack if you saw some close ups of my Menace 😆

Some might. But, the SW universe is known for its used look. ;)

Believe it or not, the only thing that really gets dinged up is the pommel which makes the bottom end of the saber heavy anyhow.

Nice! You seem to have taken to the staff with ease. I have not yet worked with a staff. Would you say there are a lot of crossover techniques from single-blade spinning?

I’ve only dropped mine on the carpet, so no major scars. I really need to order a couple of GBs or MB’s after Christmas and designate one as a beater saber.  I fear I am still too new at this hobby and worry about messing up my precious sabers—which inhibits my going all out while spinning. And that impedes learning as well.

Hey there, DPM.  Yes, just about all of the moves transfer over to the staff. You'll just need to be aware of the other end and the weight is all.  I used the staff to learn Reverse Grip spins which helped me out a lot. 


What I learned from martial arts and weapons training in the military is that if you're afraid of dropping something, you will. Don't be afraid and you'll learn from it.  I do have beater sabers that I use to spin which are all of my stunts.  My Diamond and Emerald sabers, I don't spin but with my stunts, it's whatever one that I'm in the mood of spinning and what I'm doing.

Sorry to hear, I01. Being out of commission myself, I know how that is. I need to stock up on a couple of extra grab bag blades in future orders. I currently have one extra blade...but discovering I like to have some variations in blades regardless. Plus it’s hard to breath those grab bag prices!

Once you spin for some time, you learn where the blades go especially on the staff.  I do smack myself or the ground sometimes when I'm not paying attention

Ya, I put the 36’s back on my staff and spent the whole session alternating between smacking the ground and my head. I do way better with the 24’s. Then, I only smack myself every five min or so. Looking good bubba. Keep up the fight.

Exactly what is takes to get better. Looking real good. I went back and watched a couple of your first vid's and then rewatched the last five. Big difference. Your moving smooth, and with much more confidence. Keep working on the movement. I would suggest learning Diamond footwork. Goes by many names, triangle, hourglass, etc etc.
I use a blend of Jun Fan, Diamond and Circle Stepping footwork personally.

I have a challenge for you. You should make the forum a progression video that shows Day 1 to Day ? ( at the rate your going, I say 365! So its a full one year progression. )

I always keep a log of training demo's, 99% of which never get posted. They are a library for me to criticize myself and work on technique.

I definitely need them for this staff, I can't do anything with this unless I'm outside - and then my neighbors are like what is this guy doing with a massive glow stick

I had 32” blades for a temp staff set up before my Sentinel staff and the staff itself stood about 7 feet tall. The Sentinel staff with 24” is a little taller than me, about 6 feet or so and I’m 5’10 but it’s a perfect setup

I’m an orange belt in Taekwondo and a black belt in the Marine Corps Martial Arts Program but we just call it MCMAP.  I was an instructor my last 6 years in the Corps.  I’m taking up Kung Fu classes now since January of this year but want to switch back to Taekwondo since I found a good dojo nearby.

Horizontal Only Spins

Film 2 minutes using only horizontal spins and strikes. These can be over-the-head palm spins, around the neck, waste, etc. No eclipse spins, no plum blossoms, and so on. Either or both hands can be used, so long as everything is kept in the horizontal plane. Good luck!

Thanks, Deca.  My preference is spinning outside over grass but since it was dark and really cold, I didn't.  I normally spin upstairs over carpet; however, there's a space restriction both vertically and horizontally.  I try not to drop my saber and have no issues until my hands sweats


It's fine, I wrap them horizontally and vertically with velcro to help absorb the shock but I have 18650 batteries that I'm going to swap out which is my preferred battery for stunts nowadays.

That's cool, being able to do stuff with both hands and not even think about it. If I try to do stuff with my left hand, it just feels funky.

I try to switch up for at least a few minutes each day. Really does help. I’m trying right handed palm spins and throws lately as much as I can.

Thank you for your kind words, Master Wedwyn.  That means a lot, this form of flow art has been one of the various best things that happened to me since I've gotten into the saber world.

Thank you Master Elwood.  You're right you know, once I got started, I can't stop nor do I want to. I'm always wanting to learn new moves and ways to spin.  I've learned a lot from yourself, Samhain, Master Venturous, Master Resolute just to name a few to help get my form tighten and to nail harder moves that took much longer. 

I'm glad that I can inspire others and get those to join me in this thread since it was on of my main goals, just to get people involved and aware of this great art form.

Nice spins and nice saber. Are you normally right handed practicing left hand dexterity? I usually stick to the right myself and habitually defend with my left more so. I'm trying to break out of it! I like that move where you spin in front/behind/hold behind your back, then stab out in the "eclipse work" video.

Thanks, RhyslisArdhrn.  Yes, I'm right handed but since I started training, I've always learned all the moves on my left as well.  I like to mix martial arts into my flows like quite a bit of the members here and we're always taught to train with both sides. 

Try it out, it feels awkward at first but the more you train with your non-dominant hand, the better it'll feel and the better you'll get.  Makes more spinning or fighting at ease since you can use both hands instead of favoring just one.

I have lots to learn. And "a lot will I learn here". Haha I'm going to spend some time learning actual techniques,  and try some left hand stuff. I'll use your advice and others, and I know I will be of great service on the battlefeild when the time comes :p And no problem I really enjoyed it!

Yup, I spin them until I need to repair them but once I swap the cheap AAA case with an 18650 and a chassis, I no longer have that problem unless I damage a switch.

your improvement over the last year is fantastic. Especially the control level. I really like that your incorporating more strikes into your training sessions as well. I'd like to see you train at a local park one of these days. A nice open space outdoors is all your missing now. Keep at it!

Actually, I saw where you'd updated your thread here. At that point, you hadn't put up the stuff from this morning, but I went to YT and found it all. :) I was on my tablet at the time, which is why it was easier to just go there, watch and like them. The embedded player is different on mobile than it is on PC, likely due to the software.

Right on.  ;D You’re right, tablets read embedded video coding much differently than PCs do since their OS are design for them it read it differently than a format that was created for PC use.  If it’s an iOad, they hate flash which YT videos run on, specifically. Android also reads them differently but if you use browsers like Chrome or Firefox, the should work. Windows tablet uses a tablet version of Windows 10 so it’ll read anything designed for a pc just fine.

Youtube runs on HTML5, fortunately. It's been that way for a few years. It's actually due to mobile phones and Flash not being available on there. I don't use the Flash plugin unless I absolutely have to. I have Chromium (the open source browser behind Google spyware Chrome) installed with a limited Flash plugin that only works with it for when I absolutely need Flash, but I mainly use Firefox without Flash. Most media these days has left Flash behind, fortunately.

I was watching that first one thinking how effortlessly you switch between forward grip and reverse grip. It usually happens so fast and smoothly that I don't even catch the transition. I managed to spot a couple of the transitions in the second video because I was looking for them. ;)

Thank you my friend. When I first learned the reverse grip, I would sit or stand and just practice transitioning between the two with both hands.  One of the things that Samhain taught me was that I needed to transition between the two grips without aide from my other hand so that I can transition within one side.  Thanks, I was trying to get the feel of my flow this morning and then I dropped my saber. Well, it kind of flew out but I tried again.
