I believe the previous raffle was the first with Diamond Prizes.  I remember because I was lucky enough to win an Emerald Prize and it was one saber, not two for a staff as it had been before that.  Just to be clear, I had no complaints!  :)

You really can't blame them. The raffles are pretty sweet. I'm very tempted to order something. But, I've got a feeling something really good is coming.

I must say, I like the short timing on this raffle. Having less than 2 weeks really took a lot of the indecision and "I'll try to enter later" out of it for me. I had the money, so I just entered, no hesitation. Of course, the longer timing also works out sometimes, as I don't always have the money right away.

Idk... I think that there should be some sort of a clause that you have to have been registered before the raffle started... It would still encourage people to join, but it would mean that they actually have to be a member (and ideally participate in some sort of forum activity) before qualifying. It doesn't have to be much. Post an introduction. Show off a picture of your saber, or tell everyone about what saber(s) they aspire to have...

I'm clearly more lenient than you in the matter, but I don't think that x amount of months would be unfair, particularly with the way that the raffle is advertised as "for saberforum members only" it would make sense for it to be for participating members as reward/intensive for customer loyalty. Maybe we should put this in the suggestion box.... >.>

This always seems to come up, from a pure business point of view, as long as they pay the minimum to enter the raffle, it shouldn't matter if they are active on the forum or not.  Since when do you need to be a loyal gas station user to buy a lottery ticket?

I think the point that many are trying to make is that if it's only a matter of purchasing, then why should there also be a clause to be a forum member? There are emails attached to order numbers and the whole process could thus be done excluding the forum altogether. But instead, it's designed to be done through the forum and posted to the forum. Therefore, if being a forum user has been made a requirement, does it not make sense to actually have it as a requirement? Just my two cents, but I'm certain I'm not the only one with these thoughts...

I agree with this.  Sorry, if it is too harsh but it would encourage members to actually participate in the forums.

US drums up a lot of business during these raffles and from the business and repeaters they can do this 4 or 5 times a year for us, putting a restriction like being an active forum member for let's say 3 months would really hurt there business and I bet they wouldn't be able  offer up 100+ sabers to us. Plus we all started somewhere on here, you never know what great member may just join us from registering for the raffle. IF YOU WANT A BETTER CHANCE TO WIN, PLACE MORE ORDERS.

Raffles are the Powerball of the Ultra Sabers world, it gets big  about 5 times a year and you gotta pay to play.

Agreed. Loyal members and customers is what I'm talking about, I'm not saying give a 100 post or 1 year membership requirement before participating; however, most people who aren't really US fans just participate to get something free and then leave.


I just see lots of "members" join during the raffle and less than 10% actually stay and be an active member.  I have seen existing members return though...but to get into another raffle.  Agreed, you don't need to be loyal gas station member to buy a lottery ticket but you do if you want x% off on gas or look at Costo and Sam's Club. You buy a membership yearly to get in and buy what you want or Krogers and Tom Thumb where you buy from them to add reward points to your membership.  All of these examples require an active membership to participate. 

I understand it's US' way of getting more customers but most are a one time or a every event type which in my mind, takes the reward from a participating member.  I lost count how many active and loyal members that we have on here who "never gets lucky" when it comes to raffle events.  I don't think that's exactly fair to them when those that get on here just to win and leave.

My whole point of all this is to have actual active members in the forums and not just the ones that are here for the raffle events and then check out.  To me, participation from members is what makes this community.  At the end of the day, it's just a thought and my opinion which is why I'm gladly voicing with those that agree with me but you're entitled to your opinion too.

As far as I know, the main reason to have forum membership a requirement for the raffle is for the winners list. Without a forum name, they'd have to use the person's real name, which would be a privacy violation. By providing a screen name, they're giving Deep something to put on the list for the forum.

When I joined the forum, there was a raffle going on, but I didn't participate. I was just happy to find a community of fellow Star Wars and saber nuts. :D

From a buisness perspective this is on point DB!!  As far as a saber is concerned I'd have the saber Sighted,  Optioned,  and Checked Out Wit Da Quickness!! Saber Choice Is The Easy Part,  Its Harder 2 Pick Something From The Vending Machine At Work!!  ;D

Most companies for raffles and contests have a “terms and conditions” you agree to when entering a raffle that allows the company to post the name of winners. Doesn’t have to be a full name. “First name — location” is usually the format.

Same here. I joined for the community and to learn more about the hobby and meeting new people. It was the second raffle that followed which I partook at the last minute for the fun of it. 

I’m probably going to get the Spectre finally if I participate in this one. Can add some pretty decent specs (V4, windows, engraving, covertech and D-ring and whatnot), and if I combine the discount code with my reward points it equals out to $260-something.... plus there’s free shipping. It’s really quite tempting...

I’ll admit, I did join the forum with ulterior motives while a raffle was in progress... but the raffle was not those motives. I joined to get better traffic for my fanfic in a place more Star Wars specific.

Turns out though that there’s an awesome community here, not only of other writers, but of general saber enthusiasts as well, and I’ve enjoyed many a conversation about a myriad of topics I would have not had the opportunity to discuss with anyone otherwise.

Exactly, putting your forum name in the order notes is the condition. You need that for raffle consideration, along with the coupon code. By doing that, you're giving them an name to list for the winners. After all, who doesn't like looking at who won what, and picking out familiar names? I always like seeing when my friends on here win stuff. And, their forum name is how I know them. And, there are always unfamiliar names on there, because people join the forum just for the raffles.

The thing is, you can't make people participate in an online community. I used to be a member of a CGI forum with a downloads section. In order to download, you had to post five times in the forums. Believe me, forcing people to post five times led to a lot of inane posts. I'm glad Ultrasabers doesn't make anyone post. It should be voluntary.

Hi Everybody, even with a Forum name you aren't guaranteed anonymity! I went to a Sci-Fi Fest over the weekend and I was recognised by one of the event guests that was attending (he builds Astromechs btw). Kinda cool and "Internet Privacy" scary at the same time!

Lots of us join for lots of different reasons. Truth is, it doesn't really matter why we joined, we're ultimately glad that we did. I for one, don't care why y'all joined. I'm just happy you did. This is a pretty awesome forum,  made up of some great like minded people. There's no better feeling than talking with someone who loves what you love, who gets it. Plus, we get cool sabers for good prices.  Sounds like a win win situation to me.

Well, I got an "order complete" e-mail about my raffle order, complete with a tracking number. Two days, kids. That's faster than anyone else can build a custom saber and ship it out. 8) Though, it's kind of weird, since this is the first time I've ever entered a raffle at the beginning, so I'm not used to my raffle orders shipping before the prize announcements. (not complaining for sure, just saying it's an unusual situation for me)

A Guardian blue Consular sounds sweet. I can say from experience that the Consular is a great looking and great handling hilt.

Well I'm in it again! The Butcher couldn't be without the Savior, at least that's what I'm telling my self and getting some Christmas shopping out of the way. Seeing how this went off course earlier I thought I might add me two pennies worth. I have been a member since May after my son and I bought our first sabers during the smugglers run. It was a very memorable time for us, him being 5 and me 40 and Star Wars being something that never gets old. During the many day that has pasted very few have gone by that I haven't been here reading post or watching you guys videos. Thank y'all for sharing. This is post 20 for me, a lot of the time I don't have much to say but I do enjoy the forum very much.

Funny thing: I used to say when I got a Consular I wasn't going to do it in green. Too predictable. What's sitting on a bookcase next to my desk? My Consular with the green, green, white Tri-CREE XP-E2, of course. :P

To me, some sabers have to be canon but some don't. 

I ordered my Graflex back in May not wanting it to be exactly cannon, only to find out recently General Grevious has one [likely due to prop reusing] that fits the same blade color. I'd say mine is still better than his lol.

Well good news. I'm expecting a job promotion. Waiting for my boss to get approval from his boss. Should know in the next week or so. Even if greenlit, probably won't be officially in that position until another month or possibly January while they hire additional staff for a new department. But if news comes back that they're going forward, I think a celebration saber is in order  :P

It's a new position being entirely created to manage the company's digital needs. I'd be second in command in overseeing it. Here's hoping that pay raise can help me continue to afford my addiction lol

Well stated. I didn't think it would be that important to me to have a Qui-Gon saber in green, until I remembered that Qui-Gon is a f***ing awesome character, so of course the sword has to be green. ;) I have another Qui-Gon inspired hilt that I also did in green. GGG Tri Cree in that one. 8)

Understood, I switched my Consular to CG a couple weeks ago and it looks grand so I understand completely.   I will probably switch it back to SRD eventually since it's my favorite color and the Consular is my favorite saber.  Have to have my favorite color with my favorite saber. 

Actually edit, if I had the chance to finally would be a Blazing Red Monarch CE with a silver av switch and probably V4 sound at least :P

I miss it. TBH, I'm thinking of getting an empty and gutting my Lost Grey's internals for it. A worthy donation to be sure, I'd like to try and get the Dark Prophecy this time though to switch it up. Entered the Raffle! Read some of the comments regarding forum membership being a requirement, and agreed to some extent with the fact that the interest might bring in valuable forum members. Of course, I'm brand new around here, but from what I can see the community is already very active and accepting, especially with encouraging new members to thrive with this hobby. Toughest thing to do is have a hilt you want come up on flash sale and not be able to use it in a raffle, if you want the big $$$$ discount if you go emerald or diamond. 10% off during the raffle is nice, with a chance at one of the prizes though. Both have their positive and negatives.

Course, I advocate for diamond on at least one of your sabers, the design you most love, so you can have the best, most versatile, saber for your arsenal. Raffle or flash sale, doesn't matter, as long as you can convince yourself the cost is worth it.

For sure, it’s a major issue for me, because I love so many of the hilts, and can’t decide on just one just yet... the other thing too is that I don’t really know myself which hilt is my favorite. So there’s that. I’ll definately decide one day though.

An excellent choice LR, I've become quite fond of my Spectre and I love AS. If you don't have them, order yourself some LEE or Roscolux color filters. They're way better than color discs and with a little patience you can find almost all colors. Pics when it arrives. I'm trying to put my raffle order together,  just not sure what I want yet.

Thanks for the tip! I’ll be sure to look into the filters. I have the discs, but they block so much light for some of the colors (I managed to make a really nice red once but it used 4 discs and was so dim you could only see it if it was super dark).

Don't underestimate that little disk set that US sells, they're not too bad. But, on the same token, don't expect miracles. ;) Some of the colors are quite nice. There are some nice pale blues, greens and purples. I especially like the yellows and oranges that come with it. Also, if you like pink blades, you're set with the red disks. It's not my color choice, but others might find it quite nice.

Funnily enough, I usually just leave my AS Dominix white, because it looks great. Also, it's handy for finding stuff in my fairly large closet. ;)

Lady Revan, you are right to be excited! I got my Spectre in DVA. It's probably my new favorite saber (still love my Emperor's Hand with diamond controller and my Scorpion). The Spectre (engraved version) is an amazing looking saber. Very well balanced, and well, it's just badass! Can't wait to see your pictures.

Alas, I planned to jump into this raffle, but a car repair took over $500 this week and looks like my chances are slim now. I’ll have to see what’s left of my budget after get my next paycheck. If nothing else, I’ll grab another mystery box just to get my saber fix in, but raffle does not look likely :)

I actually tried loading this one! Sadly thought it wouldn’t register that my saber was connected, even after troubleshooting, and my saber died suddenly, which I’m hoping is just from the batteries needing a charge. Otherwise I’m SOL and my only changeable soundboard just died on me.

After much deliberation and coin flipping I have decided to get in this raffle. The big question is what to get.  My most recent purchases have been a Dorinian, Spectre, Emperors Hand, and I pulled a Malice from a mystery box at Dragon con. I held the Butcher prototype and I was impressed but I am not sure. I could also get 3 Mystery Boxes and have a early Christmas morning. Help me decide.

You mean the Butcher? Because that's the one he built during his redemption. The Savior is his earlier one, which he carried as a Jedi and then a Sith. Both are fantastic and I highly recommend them.

It depends, do you want a specific saber or do you want quantity? If you’re looking for a specific saber, then I would go with the Savior. If you want more than just one, then I say something like the Savior which gets my vote. Also, will three random MBs satisfy your saber hunger or will one specific saber like the Savior, Butcher, it any saber you want wil do. Sometimes, it’s also quality over  quatity, and I’m not saying that US doesn’t put out quality products, but im talking about any specific saber that will do beyond what a few MBs can do for you.

What are the order numbers up to now I wonder? Still tempted to jump into this one but something tells me a big Black Friday sale sans raffle might be next since I'm starting to see some of the other guys mark their stuff down in preparation. I'm on the fence between spending money now with the chance to win another saber, or possibly saving more money down the line lol

They usually do a Black Friday sale, so that's a good bet. I think that may be why the raffle is so short. Just a guess.

Yeah, it's one of those weird things. Originally, his two sabers were identical, as they all looked the same in KOTOR. However, it was SWTOR that established the Butcher design. So, retroactive continuity states that that was his second saber. But, as Emory said in his intro video, the Butcher definitely looks more menacing.

Agreed, also, US gave both of these sabers the opposite names of their actual counterparts on purpose.  It does get confusing but most who have played the games know which is which.

Last year their Black Friday special was 15% off sabers with sound with tier goodies where free shipping started at $500 so nothing too earthshattering.  Unless they do something better this year which they might, the current offer of 10% off all sabers with free shipping at $250 plus a raffle ticket, it is quite competitive.

Or, did they? Revan was a savior in the Mandalorian War. The Mandalorians were beating the Republic badly until Revan led the Revanchist into battle, which turned the tide and saved the Republic. (yes, he later attacked said Republic, not my point) In saving the Republic from Malak's forces, he certainly butchered a lot of Sith.

So, it's correct, from a certain point of view. ;)

No matter how you slice it, Revan is a complex and dynamic character. Both the original incarnation and the reborn Revan had knowledge of both the Light and Dark sides. Also, no matter how you slice it, the two sabers are freaking cool. You can't go wrong buying either.

I remember the storyline, I meant from people who don’t play the game and don’t know the history. They just think the Butcher would be a Sith saber while the Savior is the Jedi one (although it started out as a Jedi saber)

Could be. Very rarely, they do savings on features like flash on clash and recharge ports. You can really save some money with reduced prices upgrades like that. Usually, the Black Friday sale is something special, so I doubt last year's was just 15% with free shipping and tiered rewards.

Filters are definitely solid but also a silver blade itself is surprisingly satisfying, feels powerful :)

Agreed, there's something about the AS blade that is just beautiful

AS is my plan for my Dark Omen when I order it...of course....I will probably go diamond or emerald...or maybe try the color disks  because I think blazing red would be cool once in a while.

It may sound odd but it's very difficult to get a bright and satisfying Red using filters. In this instance, a dedicated Red LED is a superior solution. Wanted to give you a heads up about that, it can be done but it's underwhelming IMHO. Maybe consider quick disconnects and at some points getting a Red LED to swap in? Just thoughts :)   However, an AS main blade is definitely worth it.

Okay, alright, uh-huh—might just be a chance to get in on this here little raffle. Final decision will be tomorrow when I get my paycheck. Not looking to go into further debt this holiday season, so there’s other things I need to make sure I take care of first. I’ve gone over my cash flow between last night and this morning, looked over the points I’ve accumulated from my previous purchases...and looking at two sabers that would allow me to squeak in with just a bit over the minimal $250 mark. The more expensive of the two would be a savior. Sci-fi dude’s review—after watching it a couple of times—just about convinced me to go in that direction. However, the V5 Dominic is looking pretty darn amazing and brings me in a little cheaper with more actual features I can upgrade. Been wanting a dark saber, and this one looks like a great place to start.

Countdown to paycheck and checking my holiday to-do list twice, maybe three times, between tomorrow. Which also happens to be the final day of the raffle. Nothing like cutting it close!!!

I have AS on my Azure Omen and it is perfect, a great blade color choice.

those 2 sabers are both on my list of the next sabers I want to buy, can't wait for the pics. also, I really like the switched colors of the 2, we don't see too many non-blue graflexes, and the blue should look really nice on the Archon.

Don't worry I went with a green bladed Graflex, plus worst case you look at Grevious' he has a green bladed graflex and blue bladed Archon. Or you can jokingly say you copied my green graflex ;)

The aeons and Dominix seems to be everyone’s go-to saber for spinning...plus those claws! It just looks mean and I wanted something nice and Sithy this time around. Can’t wait!

Plus with the points I’ve built up and the discounts, this was like getting the mystery box and shipping free. Gotta love US for all they do. And since this is my third purchase in four months—I think it’s safe to say I’m addicted :)

Heh, I don't know about spinning a V5 with those claws, you'll have to let us know how it is. I do love playing with the V2, V3 and V4 Aeon and Dominix sabers. Though, since I reassembled it, I've been messing with my Initiate more than anything. Though, that's typical for me. New toys (or newly refurbished ones) get played with more. ;)

I put in an order yesterday for a "Chosen One" with Diamond controller.  But it would sure be nice to win the fall Raffle, so I could have a "spare" saber to play with!  Good luck to all of us, but maybe a little extra luck for myself?

Yeah, in all honesty the free shipping during the raffle was really the turning point for me, but dropping that to a $100 threshold for the sale will save a lot of folks some cash!  Enough for an AV switch upgrade, eh?  :-)
