Title: See what I have created!
Post by: cujoe_da_man on December 05, 2018, 02:36:13 AM
During Ultrasaber's Black Friday sale, I bought myself some new blades, a couple new batteries and a new emitter.  A clawed emitter!

Yes, behold, I have combined my Dark Mantis with the emitter of a Warglaive!  I shall name it, Dark Mantis Warglaive!  Hmm... that name is a bit long.  I shall rework that.

No matter, for I removed the collar, because I know some wanted to see it that way.  It shall hence forth be known as, THE GRABOID!  No, can't call it that, I'll get sued...

And for those out there that consider themselves mad in the face of science and like to create their own Frankenstein monsters, let your eyes gaze upon the ABOMINATION!

Ok, so I most likely won't be doing that last one, but I'm having lots of fun with this new emitter, it really gives the Mantis a new look.  The only downside is that the claws don't line up with the center line of the hilt itself, still trying to figure out how to make that happen.

I like it. Point for creativity. As for the name...how about “Mantiwar?”

Hi cujoe_da_man,

Nice mash up you've created, here's two more names for consideration....

The Manti-Claw ( Ok might be a bit too like Manticore :-\ )

Or... the Man-O-War

point incoming.

Yeah I like it with the collar too. Get some clocking washers from TCSS to help you get everything lined up.

I never knew they had such a thing.  I was always thinking if I could find some kind of washer or something to make that work, even with the original Mantis emitter, that would be awesome :D

That's awesome!

Question: How did you adapt the War Glaive pommel to the V2?

That's awesome!

Question: How did you adapt the War Glaive pommel to the V2?

He had a machine shop drill into the WG pommel so that the V2 pommel can fit in it and somehow permanently adhere the V2 pommel to the War Glaive pommel so he can keep the V2 threading.

Question: How did you adapt the War Glaive pommel to the V2?

As mentioned the machinist could have drilled out the WG pommel so the ID hole was just a few thousandths too small to accept the V2 pommel. Then by carefully heating the WG pommel it would expand and the hole would become that few thousandths wider as well. Then they could quickly press the V2 pommel into the WG and allow it all to cool down again. The cooling down causes the WG pommel to shrink back down to normal size around the V2 pommel so it would be permanently wedged in place. Similar to how plumbers press fit pipes together before final soldering.

However they did it, it looks fantastic and congrats JediMazterSK!

point for the share.

well you guys (and girls) approval really means alot
after seeing so many customs, nobody seemed to be into the v2 models
realizing they weren't compatible with anything made me want to try even more lol anyhow big thanks (+point)

I like the glove. 😁👍🏽🤟🏼

appreciate gumby. took some time. looking up references. sewing metal digits, microchips, etc
but glad it all worked out. going for that whole robotic hand effect wasn't as easy as i thought

thanks Karmack
like Infinit said, had a custom guy remove threads from WG sitting v2 pommel inside
as Tyeth mentioned he used a heating method to mold them together without welding
highly suggested for those wiling to go through the procedure plus finding custom welder with decent price

If you left the collar off and used the dark catalyst pommel it have a really sleek look and I feel like it would handle a little better.
