Title: Paladya's Storm saberstaff and Bane LED swap
Post by: Therion Jinn on February 01, 2019, 08:19:52 PM
During my day off, Yesterday, I got some saber work done.
Had two goals, and I accomplished both of them

The first goal was to complete the saberstaff I call "Paladya's Storm."
This is the pair of Initiate V5s with Obsidian Lite sound in Sundrider's Destiny that I received a couple of days ago.
I used Aluminum Black to darken the grip and choke sections.
Then, after some cleanup using steel wool, I sealed them with a matte finish and connected them with an older vented coupler I had

The other project was swapping out the LED in the Bane I recieved last fall as a raffle prize
It came in Guardian Blue, and I changed that to Fire Orange with an LED purcahes through Ultrasabers for that purpose.
I also took some sanding screen and roughed up the grip sections

Nice. You should totally build a Dark Jedi outfit around the Bane lightsaber =] The Initiate V5 staff isn't bad either. Sun Rider's Destiny is probably my 4th favorite lightsaber blade color

Nice video and good ideas with your staff and awesome color choice for your Bane.

Thanks, guys.
I really enjoy coming up with these

I’m loving these Jinn!! The v5’s seem like a natural choice for a staff. The claw edges pose no issue in that configuration!! Point

I was noticing that myself, Gumby
Thanks for dropping by

Always a pleasure to see everyone’s customs!! Ya, life has been very busy. Don’t think I haven’t been fully engrossed in a saber project though!!!

I like that you're never afraid of customizing and weathering your sabers, Therion.  I some members like them shiny and new looking but you have no qualms with making it look like it's seen some battles

TJ, these look amazing. Your work is top notch my friend. Point
Today is my first day off in a while and I hope to get a little work done myself.

Thanks, guys.

Infinit01, I think it stems from me seeing things in a 'used' universe.
About the only saber currently in my collection that may never get a 'used' look is my Electrum Wind. Mostly because I see Mace Windu taking meticulous care of his saber

You're welcome. I like that. I too feel that most sabers are weathered and used aside from Mace Windu as well.

The sanding on the grip sections of that Bane is so simple, yet SO effective! I love the look it creates!

Sometimes, the simplest mods work best

Agreed. Simplicity can add to something quite well

Very nice customization work Jinn! I like those ideas and outcomes a lot. Where did you learn to do the customization side of sabers?

Thanks
Some of it I picked up here, Darth Cruelty, from reading other peoples' threads.
Another place I picked up ideas from is Youtube.
I'm also helped by the fact I've been building models since I was a kid

Awesome! ive barely scratched the surface of this forum, so im sure ill learn some things also by checking out all of these threads. And youtube is great, im currently watching Darth Cephalus' spinning videos to improve my skills there. And at some point i would like to get a saber to weather and make look really cool.  :)   Thanks for the info Jinn, and i hope to see the progress/finished piece.

This one's actually finished. I didn't really do a great deal to it

None the less, its impressive! And i like that you are not afraid to be splicing wires and going at it the way you do. I am not very good with things like that, so i fear that i would screw it up beyond repair, haha. But im learning and improving daily, thats all that matters i guess.  :)

Some of my 'lack of fear' comes from working with electronics in models, Darth Cruelty.
That, and the fact that at one time I was a certified computer tech.

Other than that, it's just a matter of knowing what I want in my sabers

Hope to reach that lvl one day. Currently just trying to get this Obi Ani down, lol. Its been rough. Anyway you could go over to the saber artistry (spin tutorial) thread at the very end and tell me if the movements are correct?

Afraid I'm not much of a technical spinner, Darth Cruelty
I do some spinning, but it's mostly for feel and look. I have no idea what even half of the actual moves are called
