Title: Project Bastila
Post by: Lady Revan on February 26, 2019, 08:13:29 AM
So as some people may have already noted in my post from the suggestion box, I’ve been working on a Bastila Shan costume lately as well. My new body suit came this morning. It still needs some heavy alterations for better fit around the middle and legs, but I like the texture and the bunching effect at the bracers (much closer to the style in the game than other Bastila cosplays I’ve seen). I’m also going to be altering the boots since they’re too tall right now and to add the subtle design on the toe seen if you look closely at the game sprites. I found some hair bangles to get the pigtail knots, but I’m not hoing to bother with that for early pics. Honestly, the hair is the hardest part. I think eventually I’m going to get a wig and style it so I don’t have to do my hair every time lol. Also building electronics in an empty hilt, but won’t be posting that here since the empty hilts are not Ultrasabers. Pics here will be with my catalyst staff, which finally got back from repairs. Last image in this post is with the old style andex body suit.

Very nice. I've been looking forward to this since you posted that pic in the suggestion thread. The new body suit looks good. I'm sure it will look even better after you alter it. The whole costume looks good so far. Furthermore, you look as though you're really getting into the role of Bastilla. You have the the air of superiority and properness nailed with your posture and the look on your face in those pics.

Anyway, I'm looking forward to seeing this progress.

You're your own Star Wars power couple! Revan and Bastila!

I will refrain from my very strong feelings on the matter. There is no emotion. There is peace.

Awesome outfit Lady Revan, and as mentioned really hitting the mark getting into the character, honestly I already think all you need is the sabre and your done - I've always found cosplays more appealing when they capture the broad nature of a character with their own spin - i.e. how YOU as the cosplayer understand the character - rather than worrying about details of hair style etc. too much (obviously you have to be recognizable as a character which that suit does)

Lol good one -strangely never seen in the same room at the same time!

Hello Lady Revan (Rey...Bastilla...Revan...this is confusing so many names!)

As always I am mightily impressed with your projects! Lookin' great.

EDIT: Sorry Lord_S_Gray I didn't realise you had just posted too.

New suit definitely looks more the part, Lady Revan
Looks good on you, as well

Rey doesn't count. That was a Disney Costume XD Although considering that someone at my Temple just had his Kylo approved, it might be in temple interests for me to consider... Rey can be done cheaper than a lot of other costumes at least... :P

Thanks! Hopefully, I'll get to work on it more soon. I'm in two different tech weeks back to back right now, so not a lot of time for projects >.<

I agree! The texture of the Linen just looks so much better than the spandex. Color is much more vibrant too

Nope! :P To be fair, the only time they meet dressed as so is in their duel on the flagship, so.... :P

Hi again, well don't worry I'm not trying to pressure you into taking on more sewing jobs! Just concentrate on completing the ones you have and they'll be fantastic.

That would be a piecing job more likely than not. I have a fear of sewing machines, so my sewing is all limited to hand stitches XD

Thanks Edon! The person who did the overlay is great (sadly not me, though I wish I had that sort of sewing skill lol).

So I think I’ve figured out this hair thing about as well as I can without a wig and doing it myself...

Looking good! I like that style on you.

Also, I must ask; Is that a tent in your bathroom?

Thanks! I think the loop pigtails aren't too distracting, even if they're a bit long. I could probably loop them again to make them shorter and thicker, but that's tricky to do on my own. Wvwntually I'm going to get a wig, but that's later down the line.

Nuuuuu. It's a garment bag. lol Two, actually! That's the empty garment bag for my Bastila costume hung up next to Revan's garment bag.

That makes a lot more sense. :D

I think it looks good how it is. You have the hairstyle, even if it's not perfect, but considering she's a CGI video game character, her hair will always be perfect in a style that isn't really practical for human wear.

It's more of a length difference since Bastila has short thick hair and I have long fine hair :P

The hair looks good, Lady Revan. It definitely looks right for KOTOR Bastilla.

You're more able to pull it off than me! My hair is WAAAAAY too curly for that. Fine, dense, and curly is a bad combo.

Fair lol. Still... wig eventually means I don't have to try to style it every single time XD

Thanks! It’s not quite finished yet. I still need to make some alterations to the boots and to the body suit, then figure out the makeup, but it’s close!

You're definitely making it work, Lady Revan
Her hair, as seen in-game, is NOT an easy thing to do

It's definitely not a practical everyday hairdo...

Definitely not! Hence Why I'm planning on eventually investing in a wig XD Costume itself doesn't require a dresser and I can get on in two minutes easy. Hair on the other hand... that's a whole different monster.

Finally pinned the bodysuit and cut the boots. Going to the fabric store tonight after I finish with the younglings to match the thread color and then maybe start the stitching.

Yes! Haha.

I got the thread, so now all that's left is gradually finishing the stitching. I think I should get some thin white elastic too though so I can make it fit better at the knees without sacrificing mobility. This part might take a bit since I only hand-sew XD I have a machine, but it jams a lot and I get scared of it eating my fingers.
