Title: Combat Choreography Practice and Performance
Post by: Lady Revan on March 04, 2019, 08:39:54 AM
Because it was encouraged by Master Seblaise that I post my combat choreography work here, I thought I would make a place for it. :)

One of my saber peeps who attends the same university as I do sometimes meets up with me to practice. She got a new saber this past week and wanted to try it out, so we practiced the Anakin Dooku Episode III scene I've been notating.

That looks good. That's one of my favorite saber duels. Though, that's a shocking lack of safety gear.

Ok it is choreography, Ok the speed is controlled but gloves can save some fingers ... Stay safe ;)

By the way, this is a very nice vid ... and even if it is choreography, it has its place on this section

Point for sharing ;)

You just have to watch outtakes from Jackie Chan films to see what kind of injuries can happen with choreographed fighting.

Accidents can occur at anytime ... even at low speed choreographed combat, I would put gloves and security glasses ...

Indeed, a saber to the hand would hurt, one the the eye may mean trip to the hospital.

Tell me about it, SFD. I take blades to the shin, back, face, back of the head (and even a hilt or two to the head) more times than I can count and it hurts.

Videos from my recent Saber Guild Revan submission (anything with a mask or helmet you need to submit a "movement" video to prove you can safely perform choreography in costume). It's with the same person I usually practice "Anikoo" with. Sadly she did not know the choreography I'd originally wanted to do (Luke/Vader Episode VI translates beautifully to Jarr Kai) so we did shorter and simpler choreography that still shows enough for the purpose.

My pleasure! This was at our monthly "open sabers" session, so there were people from Saber Craft (choreography sport), Guild (Performance), and Legion (Full Contact) present. Legion people practicing for the "Sun Crusher 2: The Chrushioning" tournament next weekend.

Is it just me or is purple a popular blade color there?

So the instructor videod me for the short example of the newest CM learned in our class on Saturday! :D it feels so weird seeing me with green. This was while my red wire was loose and not working, hence the color. That’s technically my mute yellow font....

Tutorial for my recent submission that was included in the SaberCraft alphabet of choreographies. I took Bastila submission photos that morning, so I'm dressed as her still for the video

Performance from Saturday at the con. We screwed up a bit at the very end, but it turned out well otherwise.

Looks like a ton of fun Lady!! Great crowd and performance. You should be very proud - the amount of training you are putting in really shows. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks you two! :D it was a lot of fun! The Saturday performance I think turned out the best, but Thursday was also good because we were both Fresh (don’t have any video of that one I think, but there are some pics).

We did all of Luke VS Vader RotJ and part of ESB, Musashi and Tanaka Westworld Season 2 Episode 5, part of Anakin VS Dooku Episide III, Choreography based on the moves of Starkiller in Force Unleashed, and an original dodging choreography. We were going to try to thro in park of Kylo VS Rey in TFA, but decided it would end up a bit long and it was better to leave out since the choreography was still new to both of us.
