Title: Just too much black. Post by: tx_tuff on March 16, 2019, 01:28:51 AM So I won the Dark Initiate V5 (before they were released) in a raffle. It came with V4 sound and CG. Not look after I got it I took out the inside to make my wife a DVA Manticore. So it has been sitting empty for a little while.
Today I decided to change that. The main thing I want crazy with about the hilt, besides the claws pointing at my hand, was the color. The solid black made it hard to see the details that makes this a nice looking saber. So I had an idea in my mind to work on. I started by sanding off the black from the top and bottom claws, the gernade areas and the slant at the top of the emitter and the bottom of the pommel. I didn't want to just keep it in that state, I wanted to give it more character. So I made up a batch of my etching bath and throw it in for a swim. I'm very happy with how it turn out, gives it character I was looking for and texture. I didn't want to put the CG back in because it just really isn't one if my favorite colors and besides it was just screaming for the dark side. I had another MB saber that had lite sound with BR and AS FOC so I stole the electronics from it and installed them into this baby. Overall happy without it came out and not bad for half a days work.
