I would try to find a red AV switch or get a red illuminated black AV switch though. I would also consider Arctic Blue if I was going for the Guardian. I say you win either way. Both are at the top of my list and I like the rest of the specs you have in mind.

I got the Guardian first, then the Consular as I am a big Obi Wan fan. My suggestion if you are ready to buy right now (like today or tomorrow) is to get the Guardian as it is on sale for 25% through 7/14. That is how I got my Consular. It will save you quite a bit of $$.

The Guardian is a very nice saber, but I agree the Consular is easier to use and just as nice. So I would go with the Consular.

If you are going to buy them both at some point then I would buy the Guardian now while it is on the flash sale ,as it will save you money. If you have to pick one of them that makes it much more difficult to choose. Then it becomes more personal preference for sure and what you intend on doing with it, dueling, cosplay, etc. I have the canon setups on mine as well. I have an ultra-edge (white looking) mid-grade blade on my Consular and a standard mid-grade (silver looking) blade on my Guardian. If you have one type already than I would get the other to see which one you like better. Both of these sabers have excellent craftsmanship and will serve you well. I have both, but find I heft the Councilor more, because the emitter can be swapped and the shroud is removable. The Guardian is a very pretty lightsaber, built to SW:TPM specs, but just a bit larger overall. Only reason I don't play around with either as much as my Initiate V4's is because I went with nickel plating which picks up fingerprints easily.

I will tell you my opinion any ways. Both sabers are great. I own both. I love the guardian but you really can't do much to customize it. Just change the pummel really. The switch on the guardian prevents you from removing the shroud. So it is pretty much just the guardian. The Consular on the other hand is completely customizable. You can remove the pummel, emitter, and the shroud. Without the shroud the Consular actually looks like a Sith saber. Change out the emitter and pummel, then paint the shroud. You have a one of a kind saber! I think you made the right decision for you first saber. It is a Jedi hilt, but you can remove the shroud and have a Sith hilt. You can also endlessly customize it. One of the best light sabers out there.
